The coarse-grained protein modeling tool, Cabs-flex, is feely available online server; it is based on the CABS model in which each residue of a protein has been represented by four points. The server was used for the protein Calbindin D9k in it’s doubly calcium loaded state: small and single domain protein of the EF-hand family. Twelve representative structures, in all-atom format corresponding to each cluster, were also downloaded along with trajectories, ready-made plots, images, video, data files of Cα RMSD, atomic fluctuation and GDT_TS. In the present study, simulated Cα atomic fluctuations for residues of the protein was compared with the experimental results and also correlated with the respective Cα RMSD and GDT_TS.

In recent years, the number of forged videos circulating on the Internet has immensely increased. Software and services to create such forgeries have become more and more accessible to the public. In this regard, the risk of malicious use of forged videos has risen. This work proposes an approach based on the Ghost effect knwon from image forensics for detecting forgeries in videos that can replace faces in video sequences or change the mimic of a face. The experimental results show that the proposed approach is able to identify forgery in high-quality encoded video content.

This paper examines video retrieval based on Query-By-Example (QBE) approach, where shots relevant to a query are retrieved from large-scale video data based on their similarity to example shots. This involves two crucial problems: The first is that similarity in features does not necessarily imply similarity in semantic content. The second problem is an expensive computational cost to compute the similarity of a huge number of shots to example shots. The authors have developed a method that can filter a large number of shots irrelevant to a query, based on a video ontology that is knowledge base about concepts displayed in a shot. The method utilizes various concept relationships (e.g., generalization/specialization, sibling, part-of, and co-occurrence) defined in the video ontology. In addition, although the video ontology assumes that shots are accurately annotated with concepts, accurate annotation is difficult due to the diversity of forms and appearances of the concepts. Dempster-Shafer theory is used to account the uncertainty in determining the relevance of a shot based on inaccurate annotation of this shot. Experimental results on TRECVID 2009 video data validate the effectiveness of the method.

During pregnancy, the placenta represents the establishment of an intimate connection between mother and fetus that is specific to mammals. Calbindins [Calbindin-D9k (CaBP-9k) and -D28k (CaBP-28k)] are proteins possessing EF-hand motifs that have a high affinity for Ca2+ ions and play an important role in the regulation and buffering of Ca2+ in the various tissues. Many types of calcium channels, intracellular calcium binding proteins, Na+/Ca2+ exchangers (NCX) and transient receptor potential cation channels (TRPV) have been found in the placenta. In this study, the calcium channel in maternal-fetal Ca2+ transport was investigated using the phenotypes of wild-type, CaBP-9k, CaBP-28k and CaBP-9k/28k knockout (KO) mouse models. Expressions of calcium transport genes in 3 dissected sections of placenta (MP: maternal, CP: central, FP: fetal) were examined by real-time RT-PCR (RT-qPCR) and Western blot analysis at gestational Day 19 in these mice. The level of TRPV6 mRNA and protein was highest in the MP and CP of CaBP-28k KO mice and the FP of CaBP-9k KO mice compared with other sections of KO mice. The level of CaBP-9k was significantly induced in CaBP-28k KO mice in MP, CP and FP compared with in WT mice, which levels were elevated from maternal to fetal sections. The expression of CaBP-28k mRNA and protein was reduced in CaBP-9k KO mice compared with WT in the 3 sections of placenta. The expression of NCX1 mRNA and protein was higher in all KO mice than in WT in MP and NCX1 was highest in CaBP-28k KO mice in CP, but strong in CaBP-9k KO mice in FP compared with other strains. These results indicate that TRPV6 and NCX1 participate in transferring calcium ions between maternal and fetal compartments and alteration of CaBP-9k/28k is involved in the intracellular Ca2+ buffering system among WT and KO mice. These results taken together indicate that TRPV6 and CaBP-9k genes may play a role as a key element in controlling placental calcium transport during pregnancy.

Recently, neural style transfer has drawn many attentions and significant progresses have been made, especially for image style transfer. However, flexible and consistent style transfer for videos remains a challenging problem. Existing training strategies, either using a significant amount of video data with optical flows or introducing single-frame regularizers, have limited performance on real videos. In this paper, we propose a novel interpretation of temporal consistency, based on which we analyze the drawbacks of existing training strategies; and then derive a new compound regularization. Experimental results show that the proposed regularization can better balance the spatial and temporal performance, which supports our modeling. Combining with the new cost formula, we design a zero-shot video style transfer framework. Moreover, for better feature migration, we introduce a new module to dynamically adjust inter-channel distributions. Quantitative and qualitative results demonstrate the superiority of our method over other state-of-the-art style transfer methods. A new multi-dimensional index structure called RSR-tree is proposed, which based on RS-tree. In RSR-tree, index records of a leaf node are split to ensure the sequence ordering of index records in a leaf node, which reduces the addressing cost of I/O operations effectively when reading data files. The entries of a non-leaf node are split to decreases the overlap between the brother nodes, which reduces effectively the time of reading data from data files. Experimental results on different data sets show that compared to RS-tree, RSR-tree has better comprehensive performance, in regard to tree building and querying. The querying performance is increased and extra cost is not produced.

In this paper we present a novel approach to the analysis of Heat Rate Variability (HRV) data, by coarse-graining analysis using the estimation of Block Entropies with the technique of lumping. HRV time series are generated from long recordings of Electrocardiograms (ECGs) and are then filtered in order to produce a coarse-grained symbolic dynamics. Block Entropy analysis is applied to these dynamics in order to examine its coarse-grained statistics. Our data set is comprised of two subsets, one of healthy subjects and another of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) patients. It is found that Entropy analysis provides a quick and efficient tool for the differentiation of these series according to subject category. Healthy subjects provided more complex statistics compared to patients; specifically, the healthy data files provided higher values of block Entropies compared to patient ones. We also compare these results with the Correlation Dimension Estimation in order to establish coherency. We believe that this analysis may provide a useful statistical method towards the better understanding of the human cardiac system.
