In spite of the legal framework intended for the promotion and protection of rights of the disabled, such persons are still facing significant difficulties in the labour market. Intellectually disabled persons are in a particularly difficult position, primarily due to the negative perceptions held by citizenry which stem from the lack of knowledge and information about their labour potentials. We conducted research in order to determine the most prevalent obstacles in the employment of intellectually disabled persons, as perceived by employed non-disabled persons. The research comprised a sample of 269 subjects of both sexes, of differing educational levels and employed in the private and public sector in the Republic of Serbia. The analysis of the attained results points to the need for certain kinds of educational interventions, whose programmes would improve the knowledge and awareness of employed persons regarding the right to work of intellectually disabled persons, promote diversity and create an inclusive working environment. The different modes of training, reinterpretation and transformation of previous experience, informing and establishing positive contacts with intellectually disabled persons, conducted by a multidisciplinary team of experts would establish a stable base for the removal of obstacles in the employment process.

AbstractBackgroundAustria, and particularly its westernmost federal state Vorarlberg, developed an extremely high COVID-19 incidence rate in November 2020. Health care workers (HCW) may be at higher risk of contracting the disease within the working environment and therefore the seroprevalence in this population is of particular interest. Here, we analyzed SARS-CoV-2-specific antibody response in Vorarlberg HCW in a prospective cohort study.MethodsA total of 395 HCW have been tested at three different time points for the prevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies specific for NP and RBD. Enrollment started in June 2020 (t1), two months after the end of the first wave. Re-testing took place between October to November at the beginning of the second wave (t2), and again at the end of the second wave in January 2021 (t3).ResultsAt t1, 3% of HCW showed a strong IgG-specific responses to either NP or RBD. At t2, the rate increased to 4%, and after the second wave in January 2021, 14% had a strong response, which was assessed to be stable for up to ten months. The amount of HCW with anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies was 38% higher than the number of infections found by RT-PCR.ConclusionWe found low numbers of SARS-CoV-2-seropositive HCW in a hotspot setting after the first wave but a very high increase during the second massive wave. Though the seroprevalence in HCW was comparable to the general population. Our findings offer support for the routine application of serological testing in management of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.Main summaryA relatively low percentage of 3% SARS-CoV-2 seropositive HCW with strong IgG-specific antibody responses was found in the Austrian federal state Vorarlberg after the first wave increasing to 14% after the second massive wave lasting until January 2021.

Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 RNA (SARS-CoV-2 RNA). It usually manifests by fever and/or respiratory illness. Here, we present a case of COVID-19 patient who initially presented ocular symptoms like redness, itching, and watery discharge. Afterward, the patient developed fever and anosmia suggestive of COVID-19 disease. Nasopharyngeal swab and conjunctival swab test for SARS-CoV-2 RNA revealed positive by reverse-transcriptase real-time polymerase chain reaction. The patient was managed symptomatically at home and did not require any hospital admission. On day 12, the patient clinically recovered fully and his follow-up testing for SARS-CoV-2 RNA of both conjunctival swab and nasopharyngeal swab became undetected. This report emphasized that conjunctival mucosa may be considered as a portal of entrance for SARS-CoV-2 RNA in addition to the respiratory route. This study highlighted that any kind of ocular manifestations, such as conjunctival hyperemia, chemosis, watery discharge, periorbital erythema, and burning sensation should never be overlooked for probable COVID-19 in current pandemic settings. Moreover, strict eye protection using goggles/face shield should be used by all health care workers despite any working environment while caring for patients with or without COVID-19-related signs.

Stress is a complex multifaceted concept that is the result of adverse or demanding circumstances. Workers, especially health care workers, suffer significantly from distress, burnout, and other physical illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes caused by stress. Numerous stress detection systems are realized but they only help in detecting the stress in early stages, and, for regularizing it, these systems employ other means. These systems lack any inherent feature for regularization of stress. In contributing toward this aim, a novel system “EEG-Based Aptitude Detection System” is proposed. This system will help in considering working aptitude of employees working in work places with an intention to help them in assigning proper job roles based on their working aptitude. Selection of right job role for workers not only helps in uplifting productivity but also helps in regulating stress level of employees caused by improper job role assignments and reduces fatigue. Being able to select right job role for workers will help them in providing productive working environment. This paper presents detail layered architecture, implementation details, and outcomes of the proposed novel system. Integration of this system in work places will help supervisors in utilizing the human resource more suitably and will help in regulating stress related issues with improvement in overall performance of entire office. In this work, different implementation architectures based on KNN, SVM, DT, NB, CNN, and LSTM are tested, where LSTM has provided better results and achieved accuracy up to 94% in correctly classifying an EEG signal. The rest of the details can be seen in Sections 3 and 5.

Introduction. The phenomenon of burnout is defined as a state of emotional, physical and spiritual exhaustion. Health care workers, belong to professions that are often the focus of attention of researchers dealing with these issues. Aim. The aim of the research was to assess the level of occupational burnout among employees of operating theatres. Material and methods. The study was performed on a group of 325 members of staff of operating theatres. The work involved the method of diagnostic survey and statistical methods. The questionnaire technique was used based on standardized research tools including Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Areas of Worklife Survey by Christina Maslach and Michael Leiter, and authors questionnaire. Results. A higher level of occupational burnout among staff of operating theatres was recorded in women, subjects with BA degree in nursing, surgical nurses, and in persons who did not have any additional work. Workload, the sense of justice and self-esteem are the areas of professional life which have a significant impact on the degree of the subjects’ burnout. The study demonstrated that areas of non-adjustment to the working environment are predictors of the subjects’ emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and reduced sense of personal achievements of the respondents. Conclusions. The study demonstrated that occupational burnout can be found in all its dimensions among the staff of hospital operating theatres. The association with occupational burnout of the respondents has socio-demographic factors, absence of additional work and areas of professional life influence.

The purpose of the study was to examine the leisure constraints and job satisfaction of middle-aged and elderly health care workers. The study employed a mixed research method, utilizing SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistical software to analyze 260 questionnaires using basic statistical tests, t-tests, ANOVA tests, and structural equation models, and then interviewed medical and public health workers and experts in the field, and the results were analyzed using multivariate verification analysis. The results showed that there was a significant low correlation between leisure constraints and job satisfaction among middle-aged and elderly health care workers (p < 0.01); interpersonal constraints and external job satisfaction factors were the main influencing factors; improving promotion opportunities and receiving appreciation increased job satisfaction; poor working environment and facilities, as well as the lack of achievement, were the main factors that reduced satisfaction; health factors, a lack of family support, no exercise partner, and a lack of extra budget are the key to leisure constraints. If the organization can provide nearby sports facilities for middle and high-age medical workers, improve welfare, and increase willingness to participate in leisure activities, physical and mental health can be improved. Finally, interpersonal interaction in leisure obstacles is the main reason for improving job satisfaction.

This paper responds to Love's Labor, Eva Feder Kittay's seminal contribution to feminist disability theory, arguing that Kittay's “nested obligations” approach creates a two‐tiered system of justice in which care relationships built around private dependence and private obligation are figured as wholly prepolitical, to the detriment of both gender justice and disability justice. I suggest that centering the civic membership of the disabled person allows us to keep what is valuable in Kittay's contribution, namely her theorization of the nature of care and its political significance, and her call for collective support of care relationships, while omitting the nesting of obligations and resituating care recipients and care workers as equal and interdependent.
