Background. An important, still unresolved problem in this case is the creation of a full-fledged market of building materials, the creation of a comprehensive database of materials, comparative statistics in online format on quality, aesthetic, and cost indicators of these materials, recommendations on their applications. Materialsand methods. The presented research use methods of analysis, describing, and generalization of available advertising information about covering materials for interior of hotels-restaurants buildings, for their future data base for practical design. Results. The analysis of features of building and finishing materials which are widely used in design and furnish of rooms of hotels and restaurants are resulted. Summarizing the above information that takes place on the websites of manufacturers and suppliers, it should be noted that the urgent task is the need to structure and systematize such commercial information, advertising about certain materials, in particular for floor coverings. The best solution may be to create an online system, which will present a complete set of building materials for interior decoration. Such an information file can be quickly and efficiently created online with the work of a group of architects-designers, graphic designers and programmers and uploaded to a web space, such as a modular environment such as MOODLE. Conclusion. Its hould be noted that there is such an insane amount of different format and cost of building materials for interior decoration on the market. All this urgently requires a comprehensive systematization and creation of an informative data base of these materials. This will allow the designer to facilitate the preparatory work in creating exclusive and innovative design environments, as it is more than tens of thousands of textures, color patterns of textures of materials. Creation and systematization of the electronic data base – its optimization for design services in the construction market.

Due to the active development of industries using nuclear technology, the creation of highly effective and cost-effective building materials for protection against hazardous ionizing radiation is of increasing interest. Widespread in the field of radiation-protective building materials are barite-containing concrete. The purpose of this article is to establish the prospects of their use in nuclear facilities, as well as to find ways to improve their technical and operational characteristics. For this an analysis of relevant literature and scientific research in the field of radiation-protective materials and, in particular, barite-containing concrete was carried out. The advantages of barite-containing concrete are high radiation-protective properties, environmental friendliness, high density, as well as economic indicators. The disadvantages are high susceptibility to shrinkage deformation and poor resistance to cyclic temperature effects. The addition of barite to the concrete composition allows to increase the coefficient of linear absorption of -rays of the material; also, with the proper selection of the composition, such material may have strength characteristics equal to or superior to the characteristics of concrete with standard compositions. Barite-containing materials have a wide range of applications and can be used both for the production of heavy concrete in the construction of load-bearing structures and in the creation of radiation-protective coatings for walls and floors.

Building on yourself to build for another: An architectural analysis of the graves from the North Cemetery of Ayios Vasilios. For this paper I have systematically examined the construction process of the tombs from the North Cemetery of Ayios Vasilios (Laconia, Greece) using a method called architectural energetics. This method of analysis translates an architectural unit into labour costs. The calculated workhours have been combined with a precedence diagram in order to closely examine the level of human interaction, rather than to just compare labour costs. The study concludes that the transportation of the building materials that were used for the tombs was the most labour-intensive task. It also concludes that the materials that came from farthest away seem to have played the biggest role in the creation of meaning in the funerary rituals. Furthermore, two distinct strategies of construction were identified, one that focussed on scale, using low-cost materials that would have been locally available, and one that focussed on elaboration, using high-cost materials that must have come from elsewhere. The high-cost materials are theorized to have been involved in the creation of social networks among groups.

In this work, a multi-disciplinary approach regarding diagnostic study processes is presented, using as an example the Catholicon of Kaisariani Monastery in Attica, Greece. Kaisariani Monastery is considered one of the most important Byzantine architectural complexes in Greece. The Catholicon of Kaisariani Monastery was built during the middle Byzantine period, and has undergone many reconstructions during the centuries. It is a semi-complex, four-columned, cross-in-square church, with a cloisonné masonry. The suggested diagnostic processes included the creation of multidisciplinary thematic maps in Computer Aided Design (CAD) environment, which incorporated: (a) data of historical and architectural documentation; (b) data of geometric documentation; and (c) data of building materials characterization and decay diagnosis. The historical and general architectural data were acquired by thorough bibliographical/archival research. Geometric documentation data were acquired by three-dimensional (3D) laser scanner for the creation of the Catholicon section drawings, whereas image based photogrammetric techniques were utilized for the creation of a 3D textured model, from which orthoimages and architectural drawings of the Catholicon façades were developed. In parallel, characterization of building materials and identification of decay patterns took place after the onsite application of the nondestructive techniques of digital microscopy, infrared thermography and ground penetrating radar. These vast array kinds of data were elaborated and integrated into the architectural drawings, developing thematic maps that record and represent the current preservation state of the monument, a concerning major construction phases, the most important conservation intervention projects, building materials and decay. Furthermore, data quantification regarding the extent of building materials and decay at each monument’s façade took place. Therefore, correlation and better understanding of the environmental impact on building materials according to façade orientation and historical data, e.g., construction phases, was accomplished. In conclusion, the presented processes are multidisciplinary tasks that require collaboration among architects, surveyor engineers and materials scientists/engineers. They are also prerequisites for the planning and application of compatible and efficient conservation/restoration interventions, for the ultimate goal of the sustainable protection of a monument.

The article considers the creation of systematic graphically-interpreted models for matrix analysis of energy saving measures in the design of residential energy efficient and passive buildings, reconstruction of residential and historical buildings and the creation of energy-active architectural objects using alternative energy sources. Energy-efficient design of new buildings and modernization of old ones remains an urgent task. Ukraine's construction organizations are increasingly interested in reducing energy consumption and introducing energy-saving technologies. Scientists are trying to make housing more energy efficient, namely, consuming less energy compared to ordinary buildings and not polluting the environment. Increasing the level of energy supply and reducing the individual costs of servicing the house will allow solving the problem of creating graphically interpreted models of energy efficiency of the building and energy costs. The analysis is based on a combination of active and passive energy conservation measures and takes into account possible limitations based on a system approach in the construction of an integrated model of an energy active building. The analysis is based on a combination of active and passive energy saving measures and takes into account possible limitations based on a systematic approach by creation a comprehensive model of an energy-active building.
