This research article assesses the implications of using lean manufacturing for universities’ educational, scientific, financial and economic activities. The research methods include comparative analysis, trend analysis, Wilcoxon T-test, Fisher’s exact test, and correlation analysis. In retrospect, when comparing data on universities that are members of the «Association of Lean Universities», there comes to be a positive effect of lean manufacturing on the indicator «Income from all sources per one scientific and educational worker» and, in less degree, on research and development work (R&D), inflation taken into account. No statistically significant relationship between lean manufacturing and the average Unified State Examination (USE) score of the students admitted to the budgetary form of education was found. A comparative analysis of lean medical schools with their «non-lean» peers showed that lean manufacturing has a positive effect on the growth of R&D, taking inflation into account. Consequently, the use of lean manufacturing allowed universities to maintain average income growth rates per one scientific and educational worker. In addition, lean universities differ from their peers in terms of R&D amount dynamics. The study is to some extent limited by lacking quantitative information on the scale of lean manufacturing implementation, as well as by the dissimilar structure of the lean universities as such, medical schools predominating among them. The research results can be useful for university management and for the lean technologies implementation partners, who are interested in making decisions on the use of lean manufacturing.

This paper deals with a general state of European norms for timber structures, according to "Eurocode 5: Design of timber structures, part 1.1 General rules and rules for buildings ", together with the following European norms EN. The concept of design of timber structures, according to limit states and Eurocode 5 (EC5). draft is briefly shown. In some areas a comparative analysis of EC5/JUS/DIN norm is given. The paper contains the proposition of the possible model for limit state of rupture of the timber structures during bending and eccentric stress.

Conformation features of animals, which are the external expression of the constitution play an important role in breeding work they can be judged on the productivity of the animal and the general state of the organism. The data on live weight, measurements and body indices of young Red deer of Altai-Sayan breed in LLC “Niva” in the Altai Republic have been presented in the article. The purpose of the research was to identify the features of growth and development of young Red deer of Altai-Sayan breed. Two groups of 10 animals in each have been formed. In the 1st group were included males, in the 2nd – females from birth to 18 months of age, which have been kept under the same conditions of feeding and housing. Studies have shown the gain in live weight of young animals in the period from birth to one and a half years. At the end of the experiment males had a live weight of 168,5 kg and surpassed females by 20,4 kg. Data on the average daily, absolute and relative gains in the live weight of young Red deer have been also obtained. The absolute gain in live weight in males from birth to the end of the experiment was 152,0 kg, and in females it was 132,6 kg. The relative gain from birth to the age of 6 months was 136,50 % in males and 141,44 % in females, while from 12 to 18 months it decreased to 26,35 % in males and 30,23 % in females. Comparative analysis of measurements of the two groups has shown that males were taller and larger than female Red deer during the whole period of studies by 3–6 %.

The article presents the results of research and analysis of the general state of the architectural structures’ coloristics in historical areas of a number of cities in the south of the Tyumen region. It contains the examples of photofixation and formalized color schemes of the selected building facades, and provides a summary table of typical colors in the historical centers of cities under study. The differences in the polychromy of the studied cities and possible options for the development of the concept of coloristics of the architectural environment of these cities are determined.
