Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan kemampuan representasi matematis dan Self Confindece siswa SMP melalui penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dua orang siswa kelas VII. Pengambilan siswa berdasarkan hasil tes dan konsultasi dengan guru. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes dan wawancara semi terstruktur. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data kemampuan representasi matematis selama proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran PBL berupa hasil tes individu setiap pertemuan, sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data Self Confidece siswa berupa angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model PBL dapat membantu menumbuhkan perkembangan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa terlihat dari hasil tes individu setiap pertemuan dan hasil wawancara semi terstruktur siswa. Meskipun siswa belum dapat memenuhi semua indikator yang diukur, namun terlihat sebahagian besar siswa telah dapat memenuhi sebahagian besar  indikator representasi matematis yaitu (1) menyajikan data atau informasi dari suatu masalah ke representasi gambar, diagram, grafik atau tabel, (2) menyelesaikan masalah yang melibatkan ekspresi matematis. Hanya satu indikator kemampuan representasi matematis yang tidak terpenuhi yaitu  menuliskan langkah-langkah penyelesaian masalah matematika. Kemampuan Self Confindece siswa mengalami perkembangan secara klasikal dan memiliki dampak positif terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa terhadap proses pembelajaran PBL sesuai dengan indikator Self Confindece. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran tentang pentingnya melatih siswa menjawab soal non-routin melalui pembelajaran. Tantangan bagi guru untuk membiasakan siswa merepresentasi dan  melakukan langkah-langkah penyelesaian masalah secara sistematis serta memiliki kepercayaan diri dalam menjawab soal. Pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan guru berpengaruh terhadap terbentuknya kebiasaan siswa. Data collection was performed using semi-structured tests and interviews.The instrument used to obtain mathematical representation ability data during the learning process by using the PBL learning model in the form of individual test results at each meeting, while the instrument used to obtain students' Self Confidence data in the form of a questionnaire.The results was  showed that learn with the PBL model can help students to grow the development of students 'mathematical representation abilities seen from the results of individual tests at each meeting and the results of students' semi-structured interviews. Although students have not been able to meet all the measured indicators, it appears that most students have been able to meet most of the mathematical representation indicators, namely (1) presenting data or information from a problem to the representation of images, diagrams, graphs or tables, (2) solving problems that involves mathematical expressions. Only one indicator of mathematical representation ability that is not fulfilled is to write steps to solve mathematical problems. The ability of Self Confindece students have developed classically and has a positive impact on the ability of students' mathematical representation of the PBL learning process in accordance with the Self Confindece indicator. This study provides an overview of the importance of training students to answer non-routin problems through learning. The challenge for the teacher is to get the students to represent and take steps to solve problems systematically and have confidence in answering questions. This research was conducted with the aim of describing the engagement of junior high school students in the mathematics learning process measured using an adapted Watson analytical tool. This research is a qualitative study that analyzes video transcripts of a junior high school teacher in West Nusa Tenggara, East Indonesia who are carrying out mathematical teaching on probability.  In this study, the teacher carried out mathematics teaching designed by researchers using the ELPSA (Experience, Language, Pictorial, Symbolic, and Application) framework. The learning process was recorded through a video and then transcribed so that it is easily analyzed. The results showed that the dimensions of student mathematical engagement that emerged during the mathematics learning process were dominated by activities comparing/classifying and justifying/reasoning. These results also have a positive impact that by using the adapted of Watson analytical tool to analyze the learning process of mathematics can help teachers to gain deeper insight into students' mathematical engagement. This technique can be used as a reference by the teacher to further analyze so that better teaching actions can be planned.

Introduction and Aims. Refractive errors such as miopia, hyperopia and astigmatism in teenagers are common in Asian country nowadays. Gadget usage also influence the prevalence and incidence of refractive errors specially for miopia and astigmatism. Outdoor activities have positive impact to prevent miopia. The aim of this study is to report the role of outdoor activities as unique school program that could prevent refractive errors in Junior High School in rural area of Bali Method. This is analytic descriptive study with cross sectional approach of 231 Pekutatan II Junior High School students taken in December 2016. This school located in rural area; 35,3 km from Jembarana and 60,5 km from Denpasar, the capital city of Bali. The area of the school is about 1500 m2, where 70% of the land are still vacant to natural habitat and this school had their own garden area that being organized by the students themselves after school hours. This school do not have computer extra curriculum as well. Result. From 231 students there were only 14 students that have refractive errors consist of 5 boys and 9 girls, mostly aged 15 years. Six students (2%) were diagnosed as myopia and 8 students (3.4%) were diagnosed as compound astigmatism myopia. The length of gadget usage in this school were 1.66 hours and outdoor activities time were 4.78 hours per day. The hereditary factors of refractive errors were noted in 12 students (5 %). Outdoor activities associated with refractive errors in this study (p = 0.03). While time using gadget does not have an association with the refractive errors (p = 0.38). Conclusion. Rural area where the outdoor activities are still common have protective effect to prevalence of refractive errors in teenager.

The objective of the study is to explore on how Sundanese local wisdoms are implemented in civic studies in reinforcing students’ characters in SMP Negeri 3 Purwakarta (Junior high school). Qualitative approach is employed in this study by conducting case study as a method of data gathering. The results of the study indicate that the learning process has been implemented ordinarily through the seven-day at school program. Despite the fact that local wisdoms are not specifically embedded into the syllabus, the local wisdoms are integrated in the daily learning process. In practice, teachers are expected to be able to give insights to their students relted to the Sundanese local wisdom. The implementation is carried out in forms of: 1) Civic studies classes; 2) extracuricullar activities; 3) having meals together, and so on. Those activities are considered as a leading way to reinforce the students’ character.

Problem-based learning model is a learning model emphasizes on solving the problem as a mean to know the students’ thinking skills and bring learning process more meaningful. But there are some problems in the learning that many teachers still relied their learning practices conventionally in which make students often bored and uncomfortable within the classroom. The purpose of this research is revealing the development of learning practices using problem-based learning model of junior high school students in Indonesia in 2010-2019. This research used qualitative approach and the result shown that problem-based learning model has been used widely and has attracted many first high school students to improve their competencies. Therefore, teachers need to create such innovations based on problem-based learning. Abstrak Problem-based learning atau pembelajaran berbasis masalah adalah model pembelajaran yang lebih mengedepankan pemecahan masalah untuk dapat mengetahui perkembangan kemampuan berpikir peserta didik dan menjadikan pembelajaran lebih bermakna. Perlu diketahui bahwasnya ada beberapa permasalahan yang terjadi di dalam pembelajaran yaitu masih banyaknya guru yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional yang membuat siswa sering merasa bosan dan tidak nyaman dalam mengikuti pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perkembangan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran problem-based learning oleh para siswa pada jenjang sekolah menengah pertama di Indonesia pada tahun 2010-2019. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Hasil yang akan diperoleh adalah model pembelajaran problem-based learning memang banyak digunakan dan lebih diminati oleh siswa sekolah menengah pertama pada tahun 2010-2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa penggunaannya memang banyak pada periode tahun-tahun tersebut dan dikehendaki oleh siswa untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mereka. Oleh karena itu para guru perlu mengembangkan inovasi-inovasi baru problem-based learning ini.
