We propose a predator-prey model by incorporating a constant harvesting rate into a Lotka-Volterra predator-prey model with prey refuge which was studied recently. All the positive equilibria and the local stability of the proposed model are studied and analyzed by sorting out the intervals of the parameters involved in the model. These intervals of the parameters exhibit the effects on the dynamical behaviors of prey and predators. The emphasis is put on the ranges of the prey refuge constant and harvesting rate. We show that the model has two positive boundary equilibria and one equilibrium. By using the qualitative theory for planar systems, we show that the two positive boundary equilibria can be saddles, saddle-nodes, topological saddles or stable or unstable nodes, and the interior positive equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable. Under suitable restrictions on the parameters, we prove that the positive interior equilibrium is a stable node.

AbstractThis paper discusses a predator-prey model with prey refuge. We investigate the role of prey refuge on the existence and stability of the positive equilibrium. The global asymptotic stability of positive interior equilibrium solution is established using suitable Lyapunov functional, which shows that the prey refuge has no influence on the permanence property of the system. Mathematically, we analyze the effect of increase or decrease of prey reserve on the equilibrium states of prey and predator species. To access the usability of proposed predator-prey model in practical scenarios, we also suggest, the use of Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) method for associated parameter estimation problem. Numerical results demonstrate faithful reconstruction of system dynamics by estimated parameter by LM method. The analytical results found in this paper are illustrated with the help of suitable numerical examples

A predator-prey model with Ivlev-Type functional response is studied. The main purpose is to investigate the global stability of a positive (co-existence) equilibrium, whenever it exists. A recently developed approach shows that for certain classes of models, there is an implicitly defined function which plays an important rule in determining the global stability of the positive equilibrium. By performing a detailed analytic analysis we demonstrate that a crucial property of this implicitly defined function is governed by the local stability of the positive equilibrium, which enable us to show that the global and local stability of the positive equilibrium, whenever it exists, is equivalent. We believe that our approach can be extended to study the global stability of the positive equilibrium for predator-prey models with some other types of functional responses.

The dynamical behaviors of a diffusive predator–prey model with Beddington–DeAngelis functional response and disease in the prey is considered in this work. By applying the comparison principle, linearized method, Lyapunov function and iterative method, we are able to achieve sufficient conditions of the permanence, the local stability and global stability of the boundary equilibria and the positive equilibrium, respectively. Our result complements and supplements some known ones.

The effect of refuge used by prey has a stabilizing impact on population dynamics and the effect of time delay has its destabilizing influences. Little attention has been paid to the combined effects of prey refuge and time delay on the dynamic consequences of the predator-prey interaction. Here, a predator-prey model with a class of functional responses was studied by using the analytical approach. The refuge is considered as protecting a constant proportion of prey and the discrete time delay is the gestation period. We evaluated both effects with regard to the local stability of the interior equilibrium point of the considered model. The results showed that the effect of prey refuge has stronger influences than that of time delay on the considered model when the time lag is smaller than the threshold. However, if the time lag is larger than the threshold, the effect of time delay has stronger influences than that of refuge used by prey.

Ratio-dependent predator–prey models are favored by many animal ecologists recently as more suitable ones for predator–prey interactions where predation involves searching process. In this paper, a ratio-dependent predator–prey model with stage structure and time delay for prey is proposed and analyzed. In this model, we only consider the stage structure of immature and mature prey species and not consider the stage structure of predator species. We assume that the predator only feed on the mature prey and the time for prey from birth to maturity represented by a constant time delay. At first, we investigate the permanence and existence of the proposed model and sufficient conditions are derived. Then the global stability of the nonnegative equilibria are derived. We also get the sufficient criteria for stability switch of the positive equilibrium. Finally, some numerical simulations are carried out for supporting the analytic results.

An ecoepidemiological predator-prey model with stage structure for the predator and time delay due to the gestation of the predator is investigated. The effects of a prey refuge with disease in the prey population are concerned. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the local stability of each of the feasible equilibria of the model is discussed. Further, it is proved that the model undergoes a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium. By means of appropriate Lyapunov functions and LaSalle’s invariance principle, sufficient conditions are obtained for the global stability of the semitrivial boundary equilibria. By using an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are derived for the global attractiveness of the positive equilibrium.

A ratio-dependent predator-prey model with two delays is investigated. The conditions which ensure the local stability and the existence of Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium of the system are obtained. It shows that the two different time delays have different effects on the dynamical behavior of the system. An example together with its numerical simulations shows the feasibility of the main results. Finally, main conclusions are included.

In this paper, a discrete-time predator-prey model involving prey refuge proportional to predator density is studied. It is assumed that the rate at which prey moves to the refuge is proportional to the predator density. The fixed points, their local stability, and the existence of Neimark-Sacker bifurcation are investigated. At last, the numerical simulations consisting of bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, and time-series are given to support analytical findings. The occurrence of chaotic solutions are also presented by showing the Lyapunov exponent while some parameters are varied.

AbstractIn this article, we discuss the dynamics of a Leslie–Gower ratio-dependent predator–prey model incorporating fear in the prey population. Moreover, the Allee effect in the predator growth is added into account from both biological and mathematical points of view. We explore the influence of the Allee and fear effect on the existence of all positive equilibria. Furthermore, the local stability properties and possible bifurcation behaviors of the proposed system about positive equilibria are discussed with the help of trace and determinant values of the Jacobian matrix. With the help of Sotomayor’s theorem, the conditions for existence of saddle-node bifurcation are derived. Also, we show that the proposed system admits limit cycle dynamics, and its stability is discussed with the value of first Lyapunov coefficient. Moreover, the numerical simulations including phase portrait, one- and two-parameter bifurcation diagrams are performed to validate our important findings.
