Peace education programmes have rapidly gained worldwide popularity, as states, civil society organizations and international agencies progressively recognise their importance. However, it is argued that youth should be a target of these programmes, and this is bolstered by economic and political considerations. The literature on the construction of peace education programming for youths is limited, especially in conflict settings. Thus, this chapter examines the conceptual debate about peace education programmes as vehicle for youths who are involved in growing conflict. Hence, this chapter provides an account of the cumulative body of knowledge of how youths conceptualise education programmes, and evaluate them as preparation for promoting peacebuilding. We believe that this chapter provides a beneficial means to explore the role of education for creating peace in areas of conflict, increase credibility in peace-building, and push youths forward to participate in peace programmes in the area of education.

One of the common social problems in Nigerian society nowadays is the increasing of violence against women and children, mostly by male members of a family. Unfortunately, the problem has assumed a new dimension in recent times as husbands become victims of their wives leading violence against them. Throughout the history of human existence on earth. The Qur’ān identifies nushūz as a factor that leads to family crises in marriage contracts and steps have been recommended for peaceful resolution of such disputes in the Qur’ān. However, in spite of this provision, violence against family members is on increase among Muslim families in Nigeria. Some of the questions that many will ask are whether Muslim couples are aware of the Qur’anic guidance in resolving family crises or not? To what extent do the Muslims follow the Islamic teachings in matters related to family life before, during and after disputes? How can such increasing violence be controlled following the teachings of the Qur’ān and Sunnah of the Prophet SAW? What shall be the role of Muslim women in promoting peaceful life within the family? The paper is an attempt to answer the above questions and recommend the best ways to improve family life among Muslims. This will be through analytical studies of relevant texts of the Qur’ān and Sunnah and the current realities in Nigerian Muslim families with a particular reference to Gombe metropolitan city of Gombe State, Nigeria. Seeing the history of Indonesia recenly often appear the phenomenon of violence or conflict based on ethnic, religious, racial, inter-group and terrorism cases. This phenomenon compel us to rethink the role of religion, especifically religious education in the life of a pluralistic society. Viewing these facts would be a challenge for the clergy, scholars, including religious education stakeholders, to build a pluralistic society become tolerant, harmonious, and cooperative, and democratic. Then, education has a strategic role in design civil society civilization, especially the students. In the application, religious education must have an inclusive paradigm not exclusive. Inclusive paradigm is the paradigm of contextual education, tolerance, respect for differences religius, racial, intergroup, and cooperate live. In other hand the exlusive paradigm is the educational paradigm that is less respect for differences, underestimate to others, just think of the group, less tolerant.

Abstract The aid dependence of Cambodian NGOs has resulted in a predominantly donor-driven peace-building process. Notwithstanding some crucial reconciliation initiatives that predate donor involvement and are rooted in local—often Buddhist—traditions, recent key initiatives in the area of transitional justice would not have happened without significant international funding and support.

This article analyzes the important role of civil society groups in the enactment of a significant legislation — the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act (IPRA) which was passed by the Philippine Congress in 1997. It examines the legislative process, the significant role of non-government organizations (NGOs) and people’s organizations (POs) in the process, the relationship between state and non-state actors, and how this relationship affected the enactment of the law. This paper shows that in spite of the limitations faced by civil society groups, they are able to play a significant role in the making of a significant legislation. The active role of civil society groups specifically in policy formulation, the collaboration between state and civil society actors and the strong support of the administration are three important factors in the making of IPRA.

In pluralistic society, democracy has become the best solution for respecting human rights dan giving thefreedom of expression. Normatively, democracy could solve any social-political issues through majorityvoices. Even though, Islam has not mention the term of democracy, its basic tenets teaches thathumankind is equal before God; and it teaches that the nobility of humankind depends on  theirproximity and nearness to God. Islam explicitly forbids the believe in that one nation to claim theirsuperiority than the others. In Islam, syura has the significant role of solving any kinds of problem inliving together.  Thus, democracy in principle did not transgress the Islamic teaching on humanism. Onthe contrary, sectarianism has created negative sentiment and conflict between East and West whichapparently represented by United States and Middle East. Through their sophisticated camouflage theUnited States has accused almost Islamic countries   as the hotspot of terrorism, even thought theirindictment has been factually wrong and misguided.
