Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to articulate clear understanding about the role of enterprise information systems (EIS) in developing innovative business practices. Particularly, it aims to explore the different ways that make EIS enables innovation development. Design/methodology/approach – The study adopted exploratory case study, based on qualitative approach. Investigations included two case studies each involved interviewing a number of senior information technology staff, working at these cases. Findings – The paper provides empirical insights about the EIS role in enabling innovation. The analysis of the case studies revealed that integrating an EIS with other system(s) or with digital devices can provide new practices that could not be easily available without these technologies. The study also found that applying data analytics tools into data accumulated from EIS, to extract new insights, lead to innovative practices. Practical implications – The study provides a set of recommendations for organizations interested to maximize the benefits from their investments in EIS. Originality/value – The paper provides evidences from cases in United Arab Emirates for the EIS role in enabling business innovation.

Based on cognitive theory and high-level echelon theory, this paper studies the impact of executive support on the performance of enterprise informatization. Constructed the relationship model of corporate executive support, informatization strategy and informatization reform. Through a questionnaire survey of enterprises in Guangdong Province, China, a total of 420 valid questionnaires was collected, and the data were empirically analyzed using SPSS25 statistical software. The paper found that: executive support positively affects enterprise information performance. Information strategy positively affects enterprise information performance. Information strategy has an intermediary effect between executive support and information performance. This paper helps to understand the mechanism of executive support and informatization performance in-depth, enhance the support of executives to informatization management, and provide relevant suggestions for the development of enterprise informatization.

Over the last two decades competition amongst organisations including financial institutions has increased tremendously. The value of information is critical to competition in different organisations. In addition, the management of cost of delivery and cohesiveness of information flow and use in the organisations continue a challenge to information technology (IT). In an attempt to address these challenges, many organisations sought various solutions, including enterprise information architecture (EIA). The EIA is intended to address the needs of the organisation for competitive advantage.This research article focused on the role of principles in the development and implementation of EIA. The article aimed to investigate how EIA could be best leveraged, exploited, or otherwise used to provide business value. The research brings about a fresh perspective and new methodological principles required in architecting the enterprise information.

The article substantiates the possibility of assessing the level of information potential of the company, taking into account the indicators of personnel threats. The analysis of the methods proposed by Russian scientists for assessing the information potential of companies is carried out. Conclusions are drawn about the need to increase the role of the personnel unit in the integral indicator of information potential. The systematization of personnel threats in three groups is proposed in accordance with the classification criterion for the subject (source of threats). It is concluded that it is necessary to build indicators for personnel threats, based on the principles of their construction. The author's system of indicators for each personnel threat is presented.

To meet market demands in the present and future global industrial world, manufacturing enterprises of any kind and any size must be flexible and agile enough to respond quickly to product demand changes. With the support of artificial intelligence and modern information technology, it is possible to realise modern cost-effective customer-driven design and manufacturing taking into account the importance and basic role of quality management and metrology. This will be especially possible on the basis of the innovative concept and model for modern enterprises the so-called “Multi-Functions Integrated Factory – MFIF” that makes possible an agile and optimal industrial production in any kind of industry and especially in up-to-date SMEs.
