Objective: To determine subjective outcomes after cholesteatoma surgery. Design: Cross sectional observational study Methods: Study place: Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical college Hospital (SZMCH), Bogura, Bangladesh Study population: Chronic otitis media (COM) with extensive cholesteatoma. Interventions: Canal wall down mastoidectomy for cholesteatoma. Main Outcome Measures: In this study, the Chronic Ear Survey (CES) was provided to all patients preoperatively and one year after surgery. The preoperative and postoperative score differences were analyzed. We also assessed correlations between chronic ear survey scores and air conduction threshold. Results: Seventy six patients were enrolled in our study & marked improvements were found in total CES score & all subscale scores postoperatively (P value: 0.00). The total CES score and symptom subscale scores were observed greater improvement (P value: 0.00).Significant negative linear correlations were observed among total CES scores, symptom subscale scores and air conduction thresholds (P<.05). Conclusion: The present study suggests that canal wall down mastoidectomy (CWDM) provides a significant improvement in the post-operative Quality of life (QoL) &b there is a significant association between subjective outcomes &the objective audiometric results. BACKGROUND Fatigue has been defined as a feeling of weakness subjectively, also expressed as extreme tiredness and energy loss due to illness or physical or mental exertion. Differences of quality of fatigue between healthy controls and cancer patients have been suggested. Moreover, these are due to heightened degree of expression of fatigue in cancer patients. We wanted to determine the prevalence of fatigue in patients suffering from head & neck cancer and receiving chemotherapy as well as radiotherapy and evaluate the fatigue related impact on quality of life. METHODS This is a cross sectional study done among patients of head & neck cancer, receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in the Department of Oncology, Surgery and Pathology, K.D. Medical College Hospital & Research Center, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Department of Radiation Oncology, Grecian Superspeciality Hospital, Mohali. PG Department of Radiotherapy, Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre, S.C.B. Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack. Duration of study is 2013 December 2014 November and 2019 March - 2020 July. Forty-one patients were studied. RESULTS Out of twenty-four patients who were treated with radiotherapy, nine patients had mild fatigue; fifteen patients had moderate fatigue; and no patient had severe fatigue. Among seventeen patients who received chemotherapy, fourteen patients reported mild fatigue, two reported moderate fatigue, and one patient reported severe fatigue. CONCLUSIONS Different anticancer therapies cause Cancer Related Fatigue (CRF); those could be chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Severity of fatigue was more in radiotherapy as compared to chemotherapy group. KEYWORDS Cancer, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Fatigue, Quality of Life (QOL)

Background: The aim of the study is to compare the efficacy of autologous incus versus allogenic titanium prosthesis in terms of anatomical results, hearing gain after surgery, operative course and complications.

Methods: This is a prospective interventional study of 20 patients out of which 10 underwent autologus incus and 10 underwent titanium prosthesis ossiculoplasties performed between April 2018 To April 2019 in Government Kilpauk medical college and hospital, Chennai after ethical clearance. The postoperative improvement of mean air-bone gap and air conduction over same frequencies between the two groups were studied. A improvement in pure tone average more than 10 dB was considered successful.

Results: In current study, 10 patients underwent ossiculoplasties using titanium ossicular replacement prosthesis and 10 patients underwent ossiculoplasties using autologous incus. 5 of the patients in each group underwent canal wall up and 5 underwent canal wall down procedure. The average ABG closure was 9.30 dB in incus group and 15.22 dB in titanium group.

Conclusions: Titanium ossicular prosthesis ossiculoplasties provide a significant hearing gain and are advantageous because of the easy insertion with pre-sculpted structure yet the cost is a concern. Better results were noted in canal wall up procedures more than canal wall down procedures.

Objective: To evaluate Hearing Status in Pre and Post-operative Canal Wall Down Mastoidectomy with Type III Tympanoplasty with or without cartilage augmentation. Methods: This was a prospective study, done in Otolaryngology & Head Neck Surgery department of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital(SSMCMH) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University(BSMMU) , Dhaka, Bangladesh. 1stJuly to 31st December, 2012. Forty patients were studied in this series. Results: The results concluded that mean pre and post-operative air bone gap were 38.5 dB and 29.69 dB respectively with a net gain of 8.81 dB in Canal wall down mastoidectomy with cartilage augmented Tympanoplasty type III which is statistically significant. The postoperative PTA-ABG ranged from 25-36 dB , the ABG closure was 11-15 dB in 40% case. Whereas mean pre and post-operative air bone gap were 37.19 dB and 34.19 dB respectively with a net gain of 3 dB in Canal wall down mastoidectomy without cartilage augmented Tympanoplasty type III which is statistically insignificant. The post-operative PTA-ABG ranged from 26.25-41.75 dB, the ABG closure was 0-5 dB in 35% case. Conclusion: Hearing results after cartilage augmentation in type iii Tympanoplasty showed improvement at individual and mean post-operative PTA-ABG and also improvement in ABG closure suggesting thin cartilage disc increased the effective vibrating area of tympanic membrane graft. Kata Kunci: Logoterapi, kualitas hidup IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS WITH RENAL FAILURE WHO UNDERWENT HEMODIALYSIS ABSTRACT Logotherapy is a therapy to discover the positive meaning behind an unexpected event. Logotherapy is carried out individually or in groups in the form of counseling and oriented to the search for the meaning of individual life. This study aims to improve the quality of life of patients with renal failure who underwent hemodialysis. This research was conducted by using pre-experiment with pre-post test study. The sampling technique was done by the convenience sampling. The number of patients undergoing hemodialysis as many as 46 respondents. Data analysis was done by using test t test dependent. The result showed that from 46 respondents got the mean of quality of life of patients who had hemodialysis 60.22 with lowest score 55 and highest score 69. Whereas from 46 respondents got the mean score of life quality of patients who had hemodialysis 88.72 with score the lowest score 79 and the highest score 103. The result of statistical test with t test dependent is known there is influence of logoterapi to the ability of meaningful life on client who undergo hemodialysis at Semarang Regency hospitals (p value: 0.0001).
