Background: Obesity that occurs in adolescents (age >18 years) shows a significant increase, from 12% in 2007 to 13% in 2010 and 19% in 2019 in males, and from 13% to 28% in 2013 in females. Objective: To analyze the prediction model of obesity among teachers in senior high school in Kendari.Methods: This was a prediction cross-sectional study. There were 250 high school teachers were recruited from 12 senior high schools using purposive sampling. The instruments used were questionnaires (food frequency, consumption recall, and activities recall questionnaire), Seca weight scale, anthropometry microtoice, meter, computer program, and stationery. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square.Results: Findings showed that there was a significant correlation between age group (p = 0.05), knowledge (p= 0.02), stress (p= 0.05) and diet (p= 0.013). The prediction factor of obesity among high school teachers is that teachers with an upper age (age> 45 years) tend to be obese 2.64 times that teachers at a young age (age <45 years). And if teachers experience stress, then they will suffer from obesity 2.17 times compared with teachers have no stress.Conclusion: Factors associated with obesity in high school teachers in Kendari is age group, knowledge, stress and dietary factors while the factors that are not related in this study are attitudes about nutrition, activity and smoking habits. The highest predictors of obesity in teacher of senior high school are age and stress.

Background: Well-being is increasingly emerging as an important determinant of teacher effectiveness. Aim and objective: To assess the predictors of psychological well-being in Southern India. Settings and design: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 460 high school teachers from government and private schools in Udupi district. Methods and materials: Ryff’s psychological well-being scale (1989) was used. Statistical analysis used: Predictors were identified using logistic regression and p<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant Results: Autonomy, personal growth, positive relations, purpose in life and self-acceptance emerged as predictors of psychological well-being. Age predicted the subdomain of autonomy; number and age of children predicted environmental mastery; gender, monthly income and travelling time of teachers predicted the subdomain of self-acceptance among teachers. Conclusion: Teachers are an important resource whose psychological well-being has not received the attention it is due. An intervention program designed to fit their felt needs may be a step in the right direction.

A cross sectional study was carried out among 140 high school teachers selected from 4 sub educational districts of Tirur educational district through multistage sampling. Both sexes were included in the study. The tool used for the study was Dutch musculoskeletal questionnaire and filled up by personal interview. The data obtained was statistically analyzed by using Chi square test, Yates correction and Fisher’s exact test. Most reported musculoskeletal complaints were knee pain (43%), shoulder pain (34%), Lower back pain (23%) and ankle pain (22%). This study shows that musculoskeletal disorders are prevalent among high school teachers of Tirur educational district. Musculoskeletal disorders are associated with factors such as age, gender and occupational factors such as prolonged standing and overtime work.

In-service training programs in any organization enable employees to carry out their responsibilities concerning the organizations' standard and effective delivery. In the pandemic, there is an uprising concern among educators on delivering instruction and their readiness to do so. Hence, a descriptive-comparative approach was conducted to investigate senior high school teachers' readiness on developmentally appropriate pedagogies and their training needs. The data was collected using a researcher-developed electronic-based survey instrument thru Google Form among 35 senior high school teachers in Dolores National High School. The data analyses include mean computation in assessing respondents' level of academic competence, the median for readiness on developmentally appropriate pedagogies and training needs, and non-parametric Mann Whitney U-test and Kruskal Wallis H-test on the significant difference of teacher readiness when compared according to their academic competence indicators. Findings revealed that the majority of the senior high school teachers possessed low academic competence, were exposed to developmentally appropriate pedagogies on teaching methods and modes of assessment and needed immediate training in managing learners with multiple intelligences and learning styles and provided instruction via electronic or distance learning mode. Also, results revealed a significant gap in the respondents' exposure to developmentally appropriate teaching methods compared to their training acquired (p = .002). Hence, the researcher recommends reviewing schools' in-service training and directing them in preparing senior high school teachers to deliver new-normal-based education.
