Modern methods for studying the heterogeneous structure of complex carbonate reservoirs and erosion protrusions of the foundation

The paper shows the application of modern methods for studying the structure of combined oil-traps. Methods for determining the conceptual geological model of reservoir rocks are described. The examples of the complex-constructed deposits of the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye oilfield (Eastern Siberia) and the deposits in the basement rocks in the fields of Western Siberia and Vietnam are considered in the paper. The creation of a conceptual geological model is also necessary for the successful localization of oil and gas deposits and the identification of promising zones in complex non-traditional traps.

Secondary changes in reservoir rocks in the territory of Western Siberia have a regional distribution pattern, and the amount of oil and gas resources, that are in these zones, reaches 30 % of their total number. Part of the objects where the secondary changes are most clearly manifested, has not yet been introduced into the development, what requires a more detailed approach to planning and conducting geological exploration work in perspective areas, where pore space is modified by secondary processes. In this work the main factors that control the distribution of the main types of secondary changes in reservoir rocks were identified: lithofacies, chemical and tectonic.

The features of the geological structure and oil and gas potential of the Bazhenov-Abalak oil and gas complex are discussed. Based on new geological and seismic data, using an integrated approach, the zones of distribution and the boundaries of thinning out of silty sand reservoir rocks of Vogulkinskaya strata were mapped, four traps and two zones (Ourinskaya, Eastern Tolumskaya), which are perspective for hydrocarbon deposits search, were distinguished. In Bazhenov horizon, the zones of development of anomalous sections and bituminous sediments were mapped, laying above Bazhenov formation, which are perspective for hydrocarbon deposits search. Recommendations for further exploration are given.

The influence of adsorbed polar components on the change in the wettability of terrigenous and carbonate reservoirs of oil and gas condensate fields was studied. The regularities of hydrophobization of the internal space of the reservoir in two cases are established: the effect of only the asphaltene component and the effect of the asphaltene component together with the oil-resinous components. The role of associations of polar components in the change of wettability is shown.

In the presented work the features of the geological structure and oil and gas potential of the pre-Jurassic basement rocks are discussed. In the sediments of the oil and gas bearing horizon of zone of contact five types of reservoir rocks are distinguished. The greatest prospects for oil and gas potential are associated with the carbonate depositions of the Middle Paleozoic and effusive of the medium-acidic composition of the Permian-Triassic and Triassic age. From these deposits in the territory of the district the maximum oil inflows were received. 15 promising zones of oil and gas accumulation in the deposits of the oil and gas bearing horizon of zone of contact were distinguished, three of which are poorly studied by drilling and one zone (Predeniseyskaya) is in the Paleozoic oil and gas complex.

The Mauddud reservoir, Khabaz oil field which is considered one of the main carbonate reservoirs in the north of Iraq. Recognizing carbonate reservoirs represents challenges to engineers because reservoirs almost tend to be tight and overall heterogeneous. The current study concerns with geological modeling of the reservoir is an oil-bearing with the original gas cap. The geological model is establishing for the reservoir by identifying the facies and evaluating the petrophysical properties of this complex reservoir, and calculate the amount of hydrocarbon. When completed the processing of data by IP interactive petrophysics software, and the permeability of a reservoir was calculated using the concept of hydraulic units then, there are three basic steps to construct the geological model, starts with creating a structural, facies and property models. The reservoirs were divided into four zones depending on the variation of petrophysical properties (porosity and permeability). Nine wells that penetrate the Cretaceous Formation (Mauddud reservoir) are included to construct the geological model. Zone number three characterized as the most important due to it Is large thickness which is about 108 m and good petrophysical properties are about 13%, 55 md, 41% and 38% for porosity, permeability, water saturation and net to gross respectively. The initial oil and gas in place are evaluated to be about 981×106 STB and 400×109 SCF.

Zoya Ilyinichna Glezer is the largest Russian micropaleontologist, a specialist in siliceous microfossils — Cenozoic diatoms and silicoflagellates. Since the 1960s, she systematically studied Paleogene siliceous microfossils from various regions of the country and therefore was an indispensable participant in the development of unified stratigraphic schemes for Paleogene siliceous plankton of various regions of the USSR. She made a great contribution to the creation of the newest Paleogene schemes in the south of European Russia and Western Siberia, to the correlations of the Paleogene deposits of the Kara Sea.
