The problem of modern archeology is the study of monuments that are not expressed on the surface due to centuries of plowing. Using the example of a geophysical study of the Shekshovo 9 monument (Suzdal Opolie region), we consider the use of geophysical methods for mapping the structure of the necropolis. The main idea is to search and interpret archaeological objects in geophysical data as heterogeneities towards background geological and soil structures.

The paper shows the application of modern methods for studying the structure of combined oil-traps. Methods for determining the conceptual geological model of reservoir rocks are described. The examples of the complex-constructed deposits of the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye oilfield (Eastern Siberia) and the deposits in the basement rocks in the fields of Western Siberia and Vietnam are considered in the paper. The creation of a conceptual geological model is also necessary for the successful localization of oil and gas deposits and the identification of promising zones in complex non-traditional traps.

The report presents the results of comprehensive studies of loess-like formations that are common within drainage basins of Ay and Yuruzan rivers (South Urals). Loess complexes associated with the third fluvial terrace. The lithological composition, structural and textural features indicate that the loess were formed like the part of alluvial fans, planned under the third fluvial terrace. The obtained palynological data indicate the formation of deposits in the Middle Pleistocene during the Odintsovo interglacial and Moscow glaciation.

Geomechanics is a complex discipline that covers issues of geology, geophysics, petrophysics, mechanics, etc. Building a digital geomechanical model begins with audit input data. This stage lays the foundations for all subsequent work. For geomechanical modeling, the basis of the future project is a special logging complex, which must include DTP, DTS, RHOB, CALI, GR. In this paper, on the example of one of the deposits of the Krasnoleninsky arch, the solution to the problem of reconstructing the P-, S-waves slowness, as well as bulk density, is shown based on various approaches.

Studies on the study of the rocks of the trap formation on the territories of diamondiferous regions within the eastern side of the Tunguska syneclise have been carried out. The zoning of pyroclastic formations of the mafic complex is performed on the basis of the structural-formational analysis in. Volcanogenic rocks formed as a result of explosive processes in the main volume are composed of different-fragmented tuffs. Areal development of pyroclastic formations associated with epicenters of volcanic structures, we reconstructed. This is a negative prognostic factor in the exploration for kimberlites. The regularity of implementation shafts intrusive bodies within the paleo valleys and grabens controlling kimberlites. This is recommended for prediction of new diamond deposits.

The composition and speciation of trace elements (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Ni, Co, Mn, Fe, Ba, and Sr) in surface water and bottom sediments of the Pirogov water reservoir have been studied. It was found that the metal content in surface water does not exceed the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) for fishery water reservoir excluded Zn (2–9 MPC) and Cu (up to 2 MPC). According to results of thermodynamic calculations, the predominant metal speciation in water is the free ion (Sr, Ba, Zn, Ni, Co, Cd), fulvate (Cu) and carbonate (Pb) complex. The interstitial water is characterized by an increase in the content of sulfate complex of trace elements in loams, the solid phase of which is also characterized by slightly anomalous contents of Zn, Cd, Co, and Ni. According to data of sequential selective procedure, metals are predominantly immobilized in solid phase of bottom sediments in the crystal structure of silicates or bounded to iron and manganese oxides. Only for Cd and Mn exchangeable and bound to carbonates fractions are characterized by considerable relative contents.

The article presents the results of studying the petrographic and mineralogical compositions of the sandstones of the Algan formation. Sandstones represented by pelitic-fine-medium-grained quartz-feldspar lithic arenites. Two tectonically combined sandstones lithotypes found. Lithotypes were formed in two heterochronous basins by high-speed and medium-speed turbidity flows, in moderately deep marine environments, in a relatively small distance from the coast. Sedimentation was near the deltas and prodeltas. The sources of these basins were different, related to the heterochronous volcanic areas in the north of the researched region.

Based on the results of field research in the summer of 2018 a hydrochemical characteristic of the current state of the Moscow Canal and the Volga-Baltic system was carried out. The spatial change in the ionic composition of water and the content of dissolved forms of trace elements in the area from Moscow to Petrozavodsk was analyzed. The dynamics of the microelement composition was characterized and the stability of the ionic composition of water over a long-term observation period was shown.

Reserves estimation approach is discussed for the Upper Cretaceous Senonian deposits at Medvezhye gasified. The approach is based on geological, petrophysical characterization and production history of the field. Dominant clay formations that form the gas-bearing reservoir are described and characterized. Primary guidelines are defined to estimate geology and hydrocarbon saturation based on geophysical well logs.

The activation of modern sedimentation on the shallows of the Laptev Sea, which underwent exclusively erosion in the past, has been revealed. It occurs against the background of rising sea levels. In this activation, the key role of reducing the area of sea ice, cryogenic and hydrodynamic processes, initiated by climate warming, was established. Sedimentation, accompanied by the formation of islands, is confined to positive uplift morphostructures.
