This study aims to examine the effect of social anxiety on social media dependence in university students. This research used the quantitative approach with a predictive correlation method. The instruments were social anxiety scale (92 items) refers to aspects of social anxiety from La Greca and Lopez, and the scale of dependence on social media (30 items) refers to Griffiths. The participants were 342 students of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung selected by random sampling. The results show that social anxiety influence dependence on social media in university students. The influence of social anxiety variables to dependence on social media is about 7.2%. Most of the participants have social anxiety and social media dependence in the medium category.

AbstractThis study aimed to examine the critical roles of exercising and body image satisfaction on social physique anxiety (SPA) among female university students. For this aim, 118 female university students, 58 of whom exercised regularly, participated in the study. The Social Physique Anxiety Scale, Eating Attitudes Test, and Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale were administered to the participants; their dieting habits were also investigated. Results revealed that approximately half of the participants used at least one unhealthy weight control method in the past 6 months. An analysis of covariance indicated that, after controlling for the effects of abnormal eating behavior, participants who were dissatisfied with their body image and did not participate in a regular exercise activity experienced higher social physique anxiety. However, such a tendency was not found for social anxiety. Thus, these characteristics seem to be specific to social physique anxiety. It was concluded that individuals who have negative view of their appearance were more prone to experience SPA, and they might be avoiding exercise for self presentational purposes. Findings were discussed in the light of literature.

Abstract. The Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale for Children and Adolescents (LSAS-CA) is a valid and reliable clinician-administered measure of social anxiety symptoms in young people. It has been adapted for self-report completion, and although the psychometric properties of this version of the scale have been examined in Spanish, Hebrew, and French language versions, this has not yet been done for the English language version. In the present study, we examined the factor structure and psychometric properties of the self-report version of the scale (LSAS-CA-SR) in a sample of UK adolescents recruited from schools. The factor structure of the scale was determined in our sample of N = 829; a four-factor structure, with interaction anxiety, interaction avoidance, performance anxiety, and performance-avoidance subscales, provided the best fit to the data. Measurement invariance of the scale was demonstrated across age and gender. Psychometric properties of the scale were sound, with good internal consistency (.88–.97), acceptable test-retest reliability (.45–.57), and evidence for convergent and divergent validity.

This study aims to find out and understand self-confidence with social anxiety before free prisoners at Muaro Padang IIA Class Correctional Institution. Variable Dependent in this study is self-confidence and the independent variable is social anxiety. This research is a population research. The sample in this study is prisoners who are free under the guidance of Muaro Padang Class IIA Correctional Institution, which amounts to 72 people. The research method used is quantitative research methods. Measuring instruments used are the self-confidence scale and social anxiety scale, then the data are analyzed using Pearsoncorrelation techniques Product Momentand interpreted based on theories related to the research variables. The results of this study are based on aspects - Aspects of Self Confidence according to Ghufron and Risnawita (2014) and aspects of Social Anxiety according to La Greca and Lopez (1998). Test of validity and reliability usingtechnique Cronbach's Alpha. The results of the validity coefficient on the self-confidence scale ranged from 0.300 to 0.643, while the reliability coefficient was 0.899. The results of the validity coefficient on the social anxiety scale ranged from 0.348 to 0.843, while the reliability coefficient was 0.916. The results of data analysis showed the magnitude of the correlation coefficient of -0.627 with a significant level of p = 0.000 (p <0.01) with an effective contribution of 39% and the remaining 61% was influenced by other factors. This means that there is a negative relationship between confidence in prisoners' social anxiety before being free under the guidance of Muaro Padang Class IIA Correctional Institution.
