Muslim tourists spending are expected to grow significantly and could represent more than 13% of global tourism expenditure by the year 2020. The growth of younger and educated Muslims with larger disposable income has also further increase their propensity to travel abroad. This study explores the influence of perceived destination attributes on Muslim tourist satisfaction and eventual destination loyalty. The population of the study were Muslim travellers intercepted at the Penang International Airport. A purposive sampling procedure was applied and data collection was through self administered questionnaire. A structural equation modelling approach (using SmartPLS 3.0 software) was employed for data analysisand testing of the research model. The results of the analysis were critically discussed and suggestions were proposed, for practical and empirical purpose.

The aim of this research is to explore the associations among motivation for attendance to Aqaba city, destination satisfaction, and destination loyalty. The research surveyed samples of 200 and used Structural Equation Model for research analysis and testing. The results show that motivation for attendance to Aqaba city positively affects tourists’ destination loyalty. The motivation for attendance positively affects destination satisfaction; and tourists’ destination satisfaction affects tourists’ destination loyalty. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) for the research endogenous variables for tourists’ destination satisfaction, and tourists’ destination loyalty were 0.46, and 0.66 respectively, which indicates that the model does moderately account for the variation of the proposed model; however, opens the gate for further research.

This study aims to test a model linking destination image, perceived value, tourist satisfaction, and tourist loyalty. Based on a sample of 300 tourists travelling by car from the World Natural Heritage Site of Tianchi, China, a new model of destination image was explored and data were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The results show that perceived value and satisfaction are direct antecedents of destination loyalty. Above all, perceived value and tourist satisfaction mediate the relationship between destination image and loyalty. Finally, this study discusses the theoretical and management implications of the findings in order to boost the tourism industry in the context of car trips.

In the context of Muslim-friendly tourism, marketers have to pay attention to the needs of their main target, Muslim tourists. This study aimed to examine the influence of destination attributes, including both generic and Islamic attributes, on overall tourist satisfaction to get a more comprehensive view. Likewise, this study investigated the effect of overall tourist satisfaction on its consequences. The moderation effect of Islamic religiosity on the relationship between Islamic attributes and overall tourist satisfaction was also considered. An online survey was conducted, with a sample of 231 Muslims who traveled to Muslim-majority cities, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The results showed that both generic and Islamic attributes positively influence overall tourist satisfaction, while its consequences affected their behavioral, attitudinal loyalty, and churn intention. Overall tourist satisfaction was not found to affect complaint intention. Likewise, the moderation effect of Islamic religiosity was insignificant.

Purpose There is a substantial body of the literature on the role of destination image in tourist’s future behavior, however, the majority of these studies were conducted in “Sun-and-Sand” destinations, and only a few studies have addressed this research topic in “Historical-and-Cultural” destinations context. The purpose of this paper is to fill this gap by investigating the impact of Egypt’s perceived destination image – as one of the most famous cultural and historical destinations in the global tourism arena – and tourist satisfaction on tourists’ future behavioral intentions. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted a mixed methodology (a combination of survey questionnaire based on a quota sample from 400 tourists, as well as semi-structured interviews with tourists from different nationalities). Data were analyzed using exploratory factor analyses, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Findings The results related to the impact of the perceived destination image are discussed. Also, some practical implications related to destination management organizations are highlighted. Originality/value The study contributes theoretically and empirically to destination image literature, by improving the understanding of the multi-dimensional nature of destination image and its impact on revisit intention and word-of-mouth recommendation. Also, it helps in guiding Egypt’s destination image management activities to rebuild Egypt’s image as a safe destination for all the world’s travelers.

This research study intends to investigate the tourist satisfaction as a mediating variable in the relationship between the Islamic attributes, service quality and destination loyalty among Malaysian Muslim tourists in the Padang city. A self survey was implemented as the means to attain the primary data among the 160 Malaysian Muslim tourists visiting the Padang city . The sample of 119 usable responses were collected from the 160. To analyze the model, Partial Least Squares structural equation modeling was utilized. The statistical outcomes established the positive and significant influence of the service quality, the Islamic attributes and the tourist satisfaction on destination loyalty. The results also established that tourist satisfaction were positively and significantly influenced by the service quality and the Islamic attributes. Along with it, tourist satisfaction mediated significantly in the relationship between the Islamic attribute, the service quality and the destination loyalty among the Malaysian Muslim tourists visiting in Padang city.

This study examines the mediating role of satisfaction about cognitive image, affective image, novelty seeking in the loyalty of international tourists to Nha Trang City. The models employed in this research are developed from previous studies in the fields of Marketing and Tourism. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Model are used to analyze data collected from a survey on international tourists visiting Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam. The results indicate that four dimensions of cognitive image (cultural and social; environmental; infrastructure and accessibility; and local food factors), affective image, and novelty seeking are important premises and directly correlate with the satisfaction and destination loyalty. In particular, environmental factor exerts the strongest impact on the return and recommendation intentions, of which the satisfaction serves as a bridge between the destination image (cognitive and affective), novelty seeking, and destination loyalty. The results provide theoretical and practical implications for stakeholders in Nha Trang City as well as for further research.

Previous studies show that a superior tourist experience would lead to travel satisfaction and develop loyalty towards a destination. However, the role and influence of experience quality on tourist behavioural intentions have yet to be thoroughly scrutinized. This study aims at examining the experience quality of Pangkor Island tourists and its effect on their satisfaction and destination loyalty. This research applied the convenience sampling method whereby the survey data were collected conveniently from the tourists visiting Pangkor Island. The data obtained were examined via Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The structural model assessment proposed that the natural attraction of Pangkor Island, the local behaviour, destination value, safety and cleanliness influence the tourists' satisfaction and destination loyalty. This study contributes to a better understanding of how the quality of tourist experience affect their behavioural mechanisms: travel satisfaction and destination loyalty. The research findings contribute to the literature on island tourism and enrich the existing knowledge of experience quality components and their effect on tourists’ satisfaction and destination loyalty. Keywords: Destination loyalty, experience quality, Pangkor Island, satisfaction, Tourist. Cite as: Hanafiah, M. Purpose This paper aims to examine the effects of travel experience dimensions on tourist satisfaction and destination loyalty. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected from 457 international tourists visiting Phuket through a convenience sampling method. The structural equation modeling approach by AMOS was used to test the effects. Findings In case of island destination, beach attraction is not the only factor contributing to tourists’ loyalty, but hospitality of local people also plays an essential component to retain loyal tourists. Research limitations/implications This study examined only one construct (i.e. travel experience) affecting tourist satisfaction and destination loyalty. Practical implications Tourist experience in beach attractions and local people are the key factors to retain royal tourists. Social implications Quality of beaches and friendliness of local people are important factors to promote island tourism. Originality/value Two key factors of tourist experience were found to affect tourists’ loyalty in the case of island destination: beach attractions and local people.
