The article is a synthesis of theoretical approaches to the definition of «supply chain» and to consider the formation of supply chains, justifying the need to consider the conditions of transportation of perishable goods. In the article analyzes the main characteristics of the supply chain in which it differs from the usual shipping is that it, companies are partners, not competitors, which are set to profit by due to the optimal delivery of goods between all links of the chain. But do not take into account the characteristics of perishable products, which limits the use of existing supply chains for products with unlimited shelf life and requires research in the study of patterns of logistic chains delivering perishable goods. In the article found that the formation of the supply chain do not address specific delivery of perishable goods with limited shelf life. In Ukraine, the commercial merezhayi not always warehouses for storage of goods, so formuivanni supply chain must consider these characteristics and also in more detail to consider when choosing a model of supply chain management KEYWORDS: SUPPLY CHAIN, SUPPLY CHAIN LENGTH, WIDTH OF SUPPLY CHAIN, SHIPPING LOADS, TRADE NETWORKS.

The direction for the construction of a sustainable supply chain concept has an evolution and contribution of multiple disciplines that have been elaborated by academic and business bias. From this point on, defining a concept of this subject represents an issue that demands an interpretative effort, since several factors and theoretical approaches influence this category. The objective of this article is to demarcate a theoretical framework on sustainable supply chains and relate it to the barriers present in the measurement of sustainable performance. The method applied in this assessment combines systematic literature review, qualitative analysis of content and bibliometrics, through interconnected steps, which allow a detailing of the dimensions and under dimensions of the sustainability in the supply chain and the identification of the barriers that are associated with the measurement of performance. The material considered is supported through theoretical and empirical studies, which approached the formulation of the concepts and their applicability at different levels of the supply chain. This allows the content analysis to demarcate certain stages of development and the different theoretical approaches that respond and assist the concept. The results contribute to the definition of a roadmap to measure of sustainable performance, an issue that is the basis of future studies over this theme.

Supply chain management is the active management of supply chain activities to maximize customer value and achieve a sustainable competitive advantage for a longer time. The supply chain firms put an extra effort to develop and run in the most effective & efficient ways possible. There are issues of concern that need attention, like huge losses in perishables (food) because of infrastructural deficiencies. The demand for food remains highly unfulfilled in most of the country and outside in spite of high production of food. This is because of highly ineffective, inadequate and very weak supply chains for food that require temperature controlled conditions to retain quality and safety of food and curb the decay process. An effective food retail supply chain thus becomes vital (Bourkakis and Weightman, 2004).Supply chains for perishable and time-sensitive products, pose specific and unique challenges. The temperature controlled supply chains or cold chains are a significant proportion of the retail food market which is still in the nascent stage.

In 1998, the Council of Logistics Management modified its definition of logistics to indicate that logistics is a subset of supply chain management and that the two terms are not synonymous. Now that this difference has been recognized by the premier logistics professional organization, the challenge is to determine how to successfully implement supply chain management. This paper concentrates on operationalizing the supply chain management framework suggested in a 1997 article. Case studies conducted at several companies and involving multiple members of supply chains are used to illustrate the concepts described.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine how social sustainability is considered in the study of supply chain management, thereby identifying key areas for future researchers to develop. Design/methodology/approach A systematic literature review of 109 studies is conducted. The papers have been analysed with a particular focus on their definition of social sustainability, research methods used, the central themes covered and the evolution of the debate including theories and the main findings. Findings Findings show that, first, researchers have thus far focused on principles for managing social change, developing measures for performance, identifying drivers and barriers, with few studies considering the social practices, particularly at the micro level and in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises. Second, findings also reveal that there is less consideration of the suppliers’, as opposed to the buyers’, perspective. Research limitations/implications This review focuses only on social sustainability within supply chain management, without considering the economic and environmental dimensions. Practical implications This review provides the key themes and areas for managers/practitioners to consider when implementing social sustainability in supply chains. It also provides insights into under-researched areas together with the need for future researchers to move beyond frameworks and develop more tools and instruments for measuring social performance in practice. Originality/value This paper is one of the few studies that consider the social dimension of sustainability exclusively within the context of supply chains, providing insights and implications for further research.

The article explores the main problems of managing the perishable cargo delivery, identifies the economic aspects of the development of logistics technologies. The foundations of increasing the efficiency of the perishable products delivery control system are proposed. Object of the study - supply chain management of perishable products. Purpose of the study - the systematization of processes of economic management framework of perishable cargo delivery and the development of proposals to improve its efficiency. Methods of the study - system generalization, method of comparisons, classification and analytical. Transportation of perishable products requires increased attention to maintaining the quality of the cargo. This is achieved by thorough preparation for transportation, strict compliance with numerous requirements for load, placement, packaging, delivery time, etc. All this places high demands on the process of organizing transportation, in terms of coherence and coordination of participants' actions, requires compliance with standards, quality planning of both the process and the delivery result. Based on the analysis of the main trends in the development of supply chain management system of perishable products, the essence and features of the basic principles manifestation of the delivery management process are substantiated and characterized. Among these principles stand out: consistency, innovation, coordination, balance and efficiency. These principles are implemented in the technical, technological and organizational and economic components of the management system. The essence of the economic mechanism for managing the perishable goods delivery is revealed. The effectiveness of the mechanism is achieved by the synergistic effect of its components, the action of levers and instruments of organizational and economic regulation. The consistency of the elements of the supply chain management mechanism helps to balance the economic interests and efforts of delivery entities. The results of the article can be used by transport and logistics enterprises to form the basis for improving the delivery of perishable and other types of products. This chapter introduces the concept of Supply Chain Management (SCM). It provides a broad definition of supply chain, the drivers for integrated supply chains design, and current challenges in global supply chains. More importantly, this chapter provides the reader an insight into aligning corporate strategy, people mindset, process design, and technology in designing an integrated supply chain. A real-life example in the health care industry is provided. The example aims to give readers the identification of supply chain bottlenecks, the right methodology to map the AS IS processes, and the redesign of simplified supply chain processes. Finally, the guidelines for supply chain management implementation issues, such as vendor selections and team building, are addressed.

Historically, healthcare supply chains have commonly been associated with the procurement and logistics of healthcare supplies and services. However, recent developments in healthcare render this understanding too narrow. This chapter broadens the definition of supply chains in healthcare ecosystems by using concepts from traditional supply chains and supply chain management. The chapter groups healthcare supply chains into four main categories: health services, pharmaceutical, special health services, and health humanitarian supply chains. Next, the chapter discusses the key strategies, challenges, and risks as well as the existing research for these categories. The chapter concludes with a short discussion on future research.
