The process of the development of means of information protection can be divided into three stages: invention of writing, emergence of technical means of information processing and period of mass Informatization of society. Each stage is characterized by the development of information carriers, as a result of which there are new threats of information leakage. In this connection there is a necessity of formation of requirements to protection of information and information systems.

The article aims at defining the competence-based approach to training the future professionals in communication security and development of the advanced fields of their high-qualitative training. The main results of the study are represented in the list of specialists’ professional competencies in the field of communication security, which includes: capability to identify communication threats; peculiarities of civilized, manipulative and barbaric influences at the state, corporate and personal levels; categories of manipulators, types of manipulative traps, existing manipulative techniques; capability for using effective means to neutralize or counteract to manipulative influences; skills required for organization, planning and implementation of one’s actions in terms of information attacks; acquisition of communicative, organizational and technical methods of information protection in the existing information systems and networks.

Information systems relate to diverse applications, but, until recently, the use of this technology in agriculture and environment has been relatively behind the applications in the industrial sector. The publication of IJAEIS started in 2010 in order to promote the new research advances in information systems applied to agriculture and environment. This paper presents an overview of the different scientific issues presented in the 50 papers published in IJAEIS between 2010 and 2013. The authors summarize the different contributions presented in IJAEIS and the authors identify the main trends in the field of agricultural and environmental information systems (ontologies, communication systems, spatial information processing, etc.).

Abstract:Information processing in hospitals, especially in university hospitals, is currently faced with two major issues: low-cost hardware and progress in networking technology leads to a further decentralization of computing capacity, due to the increasing need for information processing in hospitals and due to economic restrictions, it is necessary to use, commercial software products. This leads to heterogeneous hospital information systems using a variety of software and hardware products, and to a stronger demand for integrating these products and, in general, for a dedicated methodology for the management of hospital information systems to support patient care and medical research. We present a three-level graph-based model (3LGM) to support the systematic management of hospital information systems. 3LGM can serve as a basis for assessing the quality of information processing in hospitals. 3LGM distinguishes between a procedural level for describing the information procedures (and their information interchange) of a hospital information system and thus its functionality, a logical tool level, focusing on application systems and communication links, and a physical tool level with physical subsystems (e.g., computer systems) and data transmission. The examples that are presented have been taken from the Heidelberg University Hospital Information System.
