From the One Health (OH) perspective, the achievement of better public health results depends on effective strategies and interventions based on integrated research in diverse sectors of activity (human health, animal health, agriculture, and environment). The central topic in the United Nations 2030 Agenda aims at a world free of hunger, poverty, and severe disease through the achievement of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The objective of the present study is to evaluate countries and applicants of technologies patented between 2015-2020. From this methodological perspective, searches have been carried out in this study on the global patent database documents available, using specific search strategies for technologies related to challenging diseases for achieving SDGs, such as neglected communicable and non-communicable diseases: diarrhea, tuberculosis, malaria, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, lung cancer, human schistosomiasis, and Zika.

This conference is also supported by the Indonesian Diaspora Network United (IDNU). Furthermore, to improve key performance indicators, this conference is supported by the Faculty of Arts and Design, Faculty of Social and Political Science, and Faculty of Economic and Business in UNS. The 8th ICSAE conference belongs to the ICSAE conference series. The previous conferences were held in Surakarta Indonesia (2013) as the 1st, Konya Turkey (2015) as the 2nd ICSAE, Warsaw Poland (2016) as the 3rd ICSAE, Surakarta Indonesia (2017) as the 4th ICSAE, Hammamet Tunisia (2018) as the 5th ICSAE, Konya Turkey (2019) as the 6th ICSAE, and Surakarta Indonesia (2020) as the 7th ICSAE. We are sure that the 8th ICSAE will be the flagship conference for researchers, students, and professionals in the areas related to agriculture and environment. Ever increasing physiological and environmental abnormalities warrant natural, safe, easy to extract, less expensive and eco-friendly bio-components of versatile usage. Chitin, the second most abundant polysaccharide in the world, seems promising in fighting diseases, boosting immunity up and maintaining environment fresh. Chitin is a polysaccharide of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine forms the exoskeletons of arthropods, mollusks and insects, cell walls of fungi and scales of fishes. Based on extraction, purification and integration enhancement, chitin could be of greater importance for the maintenance of human health, agriculture and environment. Present article compares and contrasts the methods utilized for extraction and purification of chitin from different sources and review its current fields and suggest the future aspects.

Seaweeds are plants found in sea that have tremendous applications in the fields of agriculture and environment. It comprises of three giant classes with a large number of different species. their ability to adopt to various conditions qualifies them more applicable to various environmental and agricultural arena. Agriculturally, both three classes Phaeophyta, Rhodophyta and Chlorophyta, have significant roles in promoting plant growth and productivity and soil protection as well as reclamation with class Phaeophyta has highest contribution due to its alginic acid content and other multifaceted components that are higher followed by Rhodophyta and Chlorophyta. Seaweed (living or dead biomass) has ability to phycoremediate environment against heavy toxic metals and lessen the excessiveness of non-metal inorganic elements via physisorption, chemisorption with the aid of binding sites provided by proteins and carbohydrates functional groups existing in their cell walls and secretion of organic acids and intracellular transformation and accumulation. Seaweed is an important factor in environmental remediation and soil restoration processes.

Rapid global germplasm trade has increased concern about the spread of plant pathogens and pests across borders that could become established, affecting agriculture and environment systems. Viral pathogens are of particular concern due to their difficulty to control once established. A comprehensive diagnostic platform that accurately detects both known and unknown virus species, as well as unreported variants, is playing a pivotal role across plant germplasm quarantine programs. Here we propose the addition of high-throughput sequencing (HTS) from total RNA to the routine quarantine diagnostic workflow of sugarcane viruses. We evaluated the impact of sequencing depth needed for the HTS-based identification of seven regulated sugarcane RNA/DNA viruses across two different growing seasons (spring and fall). Our HTS analysis revealed that viral normalized read counts (RPKM) was up to 23-times higher in spring than in the fall season for six out of the seven viruses. Random read subsampling analyses suggested that the minimum number of reads required for reliable detection of RNA viruses was 0.5 million, with a viral genome coverage of at least 92%. Using an HTS-based total RNA metagenomics approach, we identified all targeted viruses independent of the time of the year, highlighting that higher sequencing depth is needed for the identification of DNA viruses.

The cotton aphid is one of the main watermelon crop pests and may cause a reduction in productivity due to the suction of sap, the transmission of viruses, and decreased photosynthetic capacity. The objective of this research was to evaluate the feeding preference of the aphid Aphis gossypii and the biometric aspects of watermelon cultivar plants submitted to silicon application. The experiment was conducted at the Institute of Education, Agriculture, and Environment of the Federal University of Amazonas, in Humaitá, Brazil. A randomized complete block design was used for testing preference with choice and a completely randomized design to study the biometric parameters of the plants. The treatments were distributed in a 2 x 3 factorial scheme (with and without silicon and considering cultivars Crimson Sweet, Fairfax, and Charleston). Silicic acid was applied at a 1% concentration directly on the substrate around the plants (equivalent to 1 t SiO2 ha-1), 25 days after sowing. The aphids in the breeding were kept in cucumber plants of cultivar Caipira. The treatments were evaluated through the preference test on watermelon cultivars and biometric studies of plant growth and development. The data were submitted to an analysis of variance, and the means were compared using the F and Scott-Knott tests at the 5% probability level. Silicon does not affect the preference of Aphis gossypii in different watermelon cultivars and negatively affects plant growth and development.
