The professional competencies pre-service geography teachers acquire in university influence their contribution to education for sustainable development (ESD) in their future school careers. We assessed pre-service geography teachers’ (n = 100) competencies and attitudes towards the official, German ESD orientation framework to determine the specific need for higher education action. The results are a high competence assessment and even higher importance assigned to the ESD-related professional competencies. In the context of ESD, pre-service teachers are most confident in their content knowledge and social and personal competencies and least confident in their pedagogical knowledge. The cross-sectional analysis shows the perceived competence level rising with the semester number and a strong positive influence of the school practice module.

It is a School Action Research with two cycles where each cycle consists of four stages; they are Planning, Implementing corrective actions, Observing, and Reflecting. It aims to find out the improvement of teachers’ competencies through Madrasah Teachers Forum known as MGMP. This research was conducted in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Pamekasan – East Java, Indonesia. It involved six Mathematic teachers, four Physics teachers and three Biology teachers as research subjects. The results showed that there was an increase in the competencies of the member of teachers forum at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Pamekasan. This can be seen from the results of observations in two cycles, as well as on the results of the tests carried out. It can be seen that the results of the posttest significantly increased. In the distribution of the questionnaire conducted to find out teachers' perceptions and opinions on the Madrasah Teachers Forum, the results of the questionnaire were at a value of 85%; thus, teachers felt the direct benefits of the Madrasah Teachers Forum to increase their competencies. Based on the results of the study, the researcher recommends to teachers participating in the Madrasah Teachers Forum to: (1) Utilize Madrasah Teachers Forum activities as an empowerment forum to update and upgrade their professional competencies and (2) Utilize Madrasah Teachers Forum to establish strong solidarity among teachers.

One of the competencies for mathematics teachers that needs to be developed continuously is professional competence. However, even if efforts for developing teachers’ competencies have been made formally by the government, it seems still lacking. This study, therefore, aims to develop mathematics teacher professional competencies through an informal development model using social media. This research used a qualitative method, a case study design, involving 19 mathematics teachers from various regions in Indonesia in the informal development process in the range of 2019-2021. The informal approach was carried out using question-and-answer techniques and guided discussions on mathematical problems. From the teacher development processes, 30 mathematics problems and their solutions were collected. As an illustration of this development process, this article presents five problems and their solutions, including solutions for two mathematics problems on conceptual understanding and three mathematics problems on problem-solving. We conclude that this informal approach is fruitful in helping mathematics teachers solve mathematics problems. This study implies that the teacher development process carried out in this study can be used as a model for informal teacher development by other higher education academics in their respective places.

Purpose. Determination of the role of scientific project activity in the formation of professional competencies of applicants for higher education in the field of electrical engineering.Methodology. The method of scientific projects is used to form the professional competencies of applicants for higher education in the specialty “Electricity, electrical engineering and electromechanics”.Findings. The implementation of project scientific activities using the base of engineering and scientific projects to improve energy efficiency motivates applicants for higher education to acquire new knowledge, creates the preconditions for the development and implementation of a modern educational program in the field of electrical engineering, contributes to the integration of a new structure into the university system – an energy-innovative hub of knowledge.Originality. In the work design methods and teaching technologies in the field of electrical engineering were further developed, which provide the use of the university base of scientific and engineering projects on energy efficiency and participation in the implementation of projects of applicants for higher education, which allows to form professional (scientific-research) competencies of applicants and to develop modern educational program.Practical value. The research results can be used to update educational programs in electrical engineering and to support the development of energy efficiency at the university when creating an energy-innovative knowledge hub that will allow organizing a complex interaction of the components “education – science (innovation) – business (entrepreneurship) – state”.

Educators are increasingly urged to improve quality control mechanisms. Improving quality involves more than simply increasing the variety of options for assessments. It calls for a new model of curriculum design focused on the formation of professional competencies students will need in the workplace along with the integration of theory-based learning activities and assessments supported by instructional technologies. This chapter will present a framework that educators can use to guide the integration of learning activities, assessments, and instructional technologies in a manner that guides students in the development of professional competencies for success in the workplace and also provides a stream of quality control data that can be used to measure both educational and organizational effectiveness.

The article outlines aspects of the formation of general professional competencies (GPC-1) through the study of mathematical disciplines; reveals the features of the methodology for the application of tasks (tasks of profile content, task case, task-situation), which are the main means of assessing the formation of the corresponding indicators of achievement of competence: ID-1, ID-2, ID-3, etc. The work analyzed educational publications in mathematical disciplines for the presence of tasks for an objective assessment of the level of formation of general professional competence (GPC-1), the problem of developing the content of criteria and assessment tools for formation of general professional competencies. The authors provide examples of tasks in the disciplines of Higher Mathematics and Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, designed to form skills in identifying and defining a problem, choosing research methods, analyzing, interpreting the result and transferring fundamental knowledge into the language of professional activity.

Introduction. The relevance of the study is due to the need to match the requirements of stakeholders to the level of preparedness of a graduate of a master's degree. The purpose of the research. The research is aimed at the development and scientific substantiation of the master's degree program in the field of speech therapy support for persons with communication disorders of various categories in terms of interaction with stakeholders. Methodology and research methods. The Master's program is based on the principles and provisions of practice-oriented and competence-based approaches that ensure the formation of students ' professional competencies and practical skills in solving real professional problems, both in practical classes and during industrial practice on the basis of stakeholders. The research used methods of design, content analysis, questionnaires, mathematical statistics (descriptive statistics, factor analysis). The results. The mechanism of designing the master's degree program is based on the inclusion of stakeholders in the process of forming professional competencies of graduates, the development of its structure, content and areas of implementation (educational process, scientific work, practice, final qualification work, career guidance). The conducted research with the participation of stakeholders (56 people: speech therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, rehabilitologists, managers) allowed us to determine the four-factor structure of knowledge, skills and labor actions (professional competencies) necessary for a speech therapist when working with people with communication disorders of various categories: ability to plan and implement the content of correctional and developmental classes (percentage of dispersion – 29.4); the ability to design an adapted basic general education program and a special individual development program (percentage of dispersion – 24.5); the ability to implement speech therapy support in the rehabilitation work system (percentage of dispersion – 18.9); the ability to plan and conduct applied scientific research in education, including the diagnosis of persons with communication disorders of various categories (percentage of dispersion – 7.8). Practical significance. The results obtained can be used by the heads of universities focused on the development of interaction with stakeholders, can help to encourage the introduction of practices and strategies that take into account the influence of stakeholders in the development of management decisions and the organization of effective training of teachers in the master's program. They may be of interest to speech therapists-practitioners, scientific supervisors of master's programs.
