As bisphenol A has been found to cause hormonal disturbances, the natural biomaterial isosorbide is emerging as a substitute. In this study, a method for isosorbide synthesis from sorbitol was proposed by dehydration under high temperature and high pressure reaction. Microporous zeolites and Amberlyst 35 solid acids with various acid strengths and pore characteristics were applied as catalysts. In the synthesis of isosorbide from sorbitol, the acidity of the catalyst was the main factor. MOR and MFI zeolite catalysts with high acid strength and small pore size showed low conversion of sorbitol and low yield of isosorbide. On the other hand, the conversion of sorbitol was high in BEA zeolite with moderate acid strength. Amberlyst 35 solid acid catalysts showed a relatively high conversion of sorbitol, but low yield of isosorbide. The Amberlyst 35 solid acid catalyst without micropores did not show any inhibitory effects on the production of by-products. However, in the BEA zeolite catalyst, which has a relatively large pore structure compared with the MOR and MFI zeolites, the formation of by-products was suppressed in the pores, thereby improving the yield of isosorbide.

Kata kunci: MO-MFI, sintesis langsung, XRD, FTIR, TPD-NH HZSM-5 (Si/Al = 30), silicalite and Mo-MFI with different molybdenum concentrations were synthesized by direct synthesis method. The catalyst samples were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Temperature Programmed Desorption of Ammonia (TPD-NH3) techniques. The catalytic performance of the samples was evaluated in a continuous micro packed-bed reactor. The effects of metal content on methane conversion and products selectivity were investigated. Characterization results revealed that the samples were MFI-zeolite catalysts and the molybdenum metal most probably occluded in the defect sites of the zeolite. Modification of zeolite with metal resulted in the enhancement of catalytic activation. The experimental results using Mo(0.1)-MFI demonstrated a high selectivity of C1-oxygenates. However, Mo-MFI catalyst was found not suitable for gasoline production. Key words: MO-MFI, direct synthesis, XRD, FTIR, TPD-NH

The aromatization of n-heptane, one of the main components of light naphtha, has been investigated over HZSM-5 (Si/Al = 33.9) and Zn-HZSM-5: Zn1-HZSM-5 (0.86% Zn); Zn2-HZSM-5 (1.35% Zn) and Zn3-HZSM-5 (2.89% Zn) catalysts prepared by the ion exchange with 10M aqueous solution of Zn(NO3)2. The catalytic activity measurement was performed by the chromatographic pulse method in the temperature range of 673 - 823K. The presence of zinc in Zn-HZSM-5 catalysts provided a significant increase in total aromatics selectivity due to the improvement of dehydrogenation activity by Zn incorporation. The Zn species facilitated the aromatization by converting paraffins into corresponding olefins which, in turn, were the aromatics precursors. Therefore, both acidity and zinc incorporation played important roles in the aromatization of n-heptane. Over 773 K the activity and selectivity of the Zn-HZSM-5 catalysts decrease very probably due to the loss of zinc ions.

The acid and catalytic properties of the modified MFI zeolite catalysts during the conversion of the propane–butane fraction of the associated petroleum gases into the aromatic hydrocarbons were studied. It was established that the high-silica zeolites synthesized with the new structure-forming additive of the alcohol fraction (ZKE-AF) belong to the high-silica MFI zeolites. The resulting zeolites were modified by 1–5 wt. % additives consisting of zinc oxide and sulfide. The influence of the modifying additive concentration containing zinc oxides and sulfides in an amount of 1–5% on the acid and catalytic properties of the catalysts in the conversion process of lower C3–C4 alkanes into liquid hydrocarbons was studied. The research of the acid properties of the modified zeolite catalysts by thermal desorption of ammonia showed that the total concentrations of the acidic centers of H-ZKE-AF modified by 3% and 5% ZnO increased. It was found that the highest yield of liquid hydrocarbons was on the zeolite catalysts modified by 3% and 5% ZnS, and is 60.6% and 60.5%, respectively, which is 9% more than in the initial H-ZKE-AF. The activity of the zeolite catalysts modified by zinc oxide and zinc sulfide was in correlation with their acid properties.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the activity and selectivity in isomerization of n-hexane of bimetallic zeolite catalysts containing a nickel transition metal in addition to palladium. Bimetallic bifunctional linear alkane isomerization catalysts based on the hydrogen form of MFI zeolite have been synthesized. The porous properties of the samples were investigated by means of low-temperature nitrogen adsorption/desorption, the size of the metal component – by TEM, and the catalytic properties – in the micro-pulse isomerization of n-hexane. Antisymbatic correlation between the temperature of the maximum yield of hexane isomers and the amount of nickel in the sample was found for a stable palladium content. The introduction of nickel allows to reduce the optimum process temperature from 598 to 523 K.
