The aim of this study was to evaluate the activity and selectivity in isomerization of n-hexane of bimetallic zeolite catalysts containing a nickel transition metal in addition to palladium. Bimetallic bifunctional linear alkane isomerization catalysts based on the hydrogen form of MFI zeolite have been synthesized. The porous properties of the samples were investigated by means of low-temperature nitrogen adsorption/desorption, the size of the metal component – by TEM, and the catalytic properties – in the micro-pulse isomerization of n-hexane. Antisymbatic correlation between the temperature of the maximum yield of hexane isomers and the amount of nickel in the sample was found for a stable palladium content. The introduction of nickel allows to reduce the optimum process temperature from 598 to 523 K.

Landfill leachates are resistant to biodegradation, contain substances harmful to the environment, which is why they are troublesome in the water and sewage management. The study tested the leachate from the municipal waste landfill in Promnik, whose age of waste disposal is 33 years. The research consisted of extracting from average leachates (with a volume of 800 m3) fulvic acids resistant to biodegradation. The extraction of acids was carried out using a hydrophobic and hydrophilic ionite in a hydrogen form. The extracted fulvic acids (FAs) was subjected to qualitative analysis on the content of micro-pollutants and the content of elementary elements forming the structure of the FAs molecule, their infrared and UV-VIS spectra were examined. Then, a full analysis of the obtained values was carried out in order to determine the properties of the obtained extractant and demonstrate the convergence of its features with humus substances that are common in the environment, which are an important element of soils, affect their quality and participate in the transport of plant nutrients. It was demonstrated that the concentration of FAs in the effluent is 905.6 mg/l.

AbstractWe have made an investigation of the ion transport properties of single crystals of the naturally occurring clay vermiculite in order to elucidate the mechanism of conductivity including the predominant charge carrier. Measurements of the ion conductivity, magnetic susceptibility and x-ray lattice parameters of ion-exchanged samples strongly suggest that the native cations and not protons are the major current carriers. We have synthesized the hydrogen form and found that it is a much preferred precursor for ion-exchange by other cations allowing the time necessary for ion-exchange to be reduced from several months to around a week.
