The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is generating the emergence of new pathologies such as nomophobia. The aim of this research was to analyze the prevalence of nomophobia among young people, as well as to check whether the level of nomophobia is higher in males or females and in those students who claim to have less healthy nutrition due to the use of their mobile phones. The research method was based on a correlational and predictive design with a quantitative methodology. The measurement tool used is the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q). The participating sample was 1743 students between 12 and 20 years old from different educational stages of the Autonomous City of Ceuta (Spain). The results show that highest rates of nomophobia were found in relation to the inability to communicate and contact others immediately. About gender, women have higher rates of nomophobia than men. In relation to age, no significant differences were found; thus, the problem may affect all ages equally. Finally, students who think that their smartphone use is detrimental to their good nutrition show higher levels on the scale provided.

The model of a modern society is a „digital society” based on the widespread use of information and communication technologies. Information is of utmost importance. However, „unprocessed“, „unprepared“ information is not valuable, but quite the opposite – it causes great damage economic, technical, psychological, political and others). First of all, this concerns young people, who are exposed to the influence of „harmful factors“ (information messages, appeals) more than other categories of the population.

The use of mobile devices in classrooms is becoming more and more common. The introduction of these resources to produce learning is part of the mobile learning methodology. Among the possibilities of these devices provide we can find, as an emerging technology, augmented reality, which combines elements of the real world with virtual images. The purpose of this paper is to know the impact of the augmented reality in the educational cooperatives of Andalusia. In this regard, educational cooperatives are centers characterized in their origin by promoting the development of methodologies based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The data collection instrument used in this questionnaire is a quantitative methodology of a descriptive nature. The questionnaire was prepared ad hoc according to the existing literature and the answers coded on a Likert scale. The results show that only a minority of teachers implement the augmented reality in their classes. In addition, there are statistically significant differences in terms of professional experience, so that younger teachers tend to implement methodologies based on the use of emerging mobile technologies such as augmented reality. Finally, it is emphasized that despite the constant technological advance of mobile devices in society, their application in the classroom occurs slowly.

A characteristic of modern society in the last few decades is the increasingly powerful exchange and transfer of knowledge through information technologies that offer tools for the production, creation, collection, organization, use and storage of knowledge and information. The research was conducted among students of the International University of Novi Pazar, with indicators that indicate the degree of understanding and use of computers and the development of information literacy, after which young people should understand and rationally use information and communication technologies. Students provided answers to questions such as: how to access information and how to evaluate information in a youth support process related to research processes that enable young people to find, download and make relevance assessments, Everyday use of computer-aided technologies by young people also generates larger amounts of information that are difficult to manage. So, young people have a large amount of important information that needs to be recognized on the one hand, and understood on the other, and finally situated in a harmonious relationship, so for them, in computer and IT terms, complex tasks are set, such as how to choose the right technology and how to manage that information. Information management refers, among other things, to the ability of young people to take responsibility, fundamentally for the process of planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling.

This chapter seeks to evaluate the attitudes and practices of media participation amongst young Portuguese aged between 12-18 years, with a particular focus on content creation and sharing through media and information and communication technologies (ICT). Audience participation in television and internet will be addressed, having as basis the results and findings of three empirical studies integrated in the PhD research project of the author, namely: an ethnographical study about the usage of media and ICT usage by 10 families conducted at their own domestic contexts, a quantitative survey about the usage of media and ICT by young people aged 12-18 with a total of 962 respondents and, finally, an evaluation study of a participatory media format which was tested and evaluated by 77 teenagers from three different schools. The main objective is to better understand the attitudes and behaviors of young people in Portugal towards the practices of creation and sharing digital content through media and ICT, providing empirical data about the range and frequency of experiences of content creation by this specific population, as well as their interest and adherence to participatory media formats.

The focus of this article is on how young people, ages 12–19, in the early 21st century use information and communications technologies. The wide and diverse nature of the landscape, composed of multiple platforms and applications in continuous change, necessitates a broad approach. Information technologies are now bundled with communications capabilities and vice versa, making a focus on one and not the other virtually impossible. Furthermore, one of the difficulties in studying ICT use among children and teenagers is that statistics and studies are still limited, even within digitally privileged countries. Ironically, while research in this area has focused on the educational use of ICT, young people overwhelmingly use it for personal reasons. This article, therefore, looks at ICT through a wide angle and offers a snapshot of the role of ICT in the lives of young people in the early days of the 21st century, suggesting in broad terms where the emerging issues and trends may lie.

The article has been devoted to the study of the impact of new information and communication technologies in the educational environment on the transformation of the values of student youth. It has been shown, how in the process of the evolution of values, a gap occurs between the declared values and life orientations, determining the behavior of young people. The conclusion has been made, that the worldview of modern student youth is of a synthetic nature: it contains, on the one hand, conservative values, focusing on the stability and connection of generations, on the other hand, “modernist” attitudes reflecting modern social realities. It has been shown, that potential opportunities for the inclusion of young people in the innovative development of the country’s economy are determined by the dynamic balance of traditional ethical values and the modern requirements of sociocultural dynamics.
