During pulsed laser welding of AZ 31B magnesium (Mg) alloy and T2 pure copper (Cu), Cu2Mg and Mg2Cu are generated, but the bonding ability of the two compounds is usually weak, resulting in low strength. In order to improve the joint of two dissimilar metals, a zinc interlayer was inserted between the Mg alloy and Cu, and the effects of the thickness of the Zn interlayer on the microstructure and properties of the joint were studied. The fused zone consisted of Cu2Mg and MgZn, and, according to first-principles calculation, in the same energy range, the area enclosed by the density of the state curve of MgZn was larger than that of Cu2Mg. Hence, the bonding ability of MgZn was better than that of Cu2Mg, and MgZn improved the strength of the welded joint. The most advantageous thickness of the Zn interlayer was 0.1 mm, and the shear strength was 48.15 MPa that was 161% higher than that of the directly welded Mg/Cu joint.

The aim of this research is to study the effect of welded joint design (Butt joint and lap joint) on thejoint strength during tension and fatigue loading with different current of welding (40,50,60,70,80) ^per, and different type of wire welding. The result of this research is showed that the effect of fatigue loading on the type of joint is more than the effect of tension loading on it. And the butt joint welding is better than the lap joint welding during the fatigue loaded. The experimental results of the effect of W'elding current showed that more increasing and more decreasing the value of the heat input, during the welding was found to produce mechanical brittleness on the buttjoint welding during the static and dynamic loading. Also it was found that welded lap joint properties are improved when the welding current is increase during the static and dynamic loading. Results indicate too that the more effect of the type of wires welding on the welded joint during the static and dynamic loading.?

In this study, equilibrium lattice parameters, heat of formation and cohesive energy of four kinds of typical phases with different structure intermetallic compound in Al-Cu-Mg alloy were investigated by first-principles calculations based on density functional theory via CASTEP software. The calculation results are analyzed and show that ternary strengthening phase Al2CuMg generated first when Mg content is higher, while binary strengthening phase Al2Cu or Al3Cu2 first generated and more stable when Mg content is low in Al-Cu-Mg alloy which indicates that element Cu and Al alloying capacity significantly higher than that of Mg and Al element.
