Using the data of a quantum chemical modeling of molecular structures obtained by the density functional theory (DFT), the possibility of the existence of a copper macrocyclic complexes with 3,7,11,15-tetraazaaporphine, trans-di[benzo] 3,7,11,15-tetraazaaporphine or tetra[benzo] 3,7,11,15-tetraazaaporphine and oxide anion where oxidation state of copper is IV, was shown. The values of the parameters of molecular structures and NBO analysis for such complexes were presented, too.

By using the density functional theory (DFT) method at the OPBE/QZVP level, key parameters of molecular structures of six-atomic (heterobi)nuclear metal clusters with an AlnFem composition (n + m = 6) (bond lengths, bond angles, and torsion (dihedral) angles) were calculated. It was found that each of these clusters exists in a large number of structural isomers that differ substantially in terms of their total energy. Furthermore, the molecular structures of these structural isomers significantly differ regarding the geometric parameters and geometric form. In addition, the most stable structural isomers of these metal clusters also differ rather considerably in terms of the geometric form.

A combination of classical molecular dynamics (MM/MD) and quantum chemical calculations based on the density functional theory (DFT) and many-body Green's functions theory (GW-BSE) was performed to describe the conformational and optical properties of diphenylethyne (DPE), methylated-DPE and poly para phenylene ethynylene (PPE).

Calculations based on the density functional theory, with the B3LYP functional and the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set, were performed with the aim of confirming the molecular structure and spectroscopic characteristics of kaempferol, a naturally occurring flavonoid molecule. The electronic structure of kaempferol was examined using NBO analysis. The assigning of the experimentally obtained IR and Raman spectra was performed after the best-fit-based comparison with theoretical spectra. The 13C and 1H NMR experimental spectra were related to the theoretically obtained values of the chemical shifts determined by the GIAO method. The correlation coefficient and the average absolute error values proved B3LYP-D3 to be an adequate method in describing the NMR parameters of kaempferol. Molecular docking analysis was carried out in order to identify the potency of inhibition of the title molecule against human procalcitonin. The inhibition activity was obtained for 10 conformations of ligand inside the protein.

In this work, we performed a quantum-chemical calculation of some epoxy molecules: 1,2-epoxy-butene, 1,2-epoxy-2-methylpropane, 1,2 epoxyethane by the density functional theory DFT. An optimized geometric and electronic structure of these compounds is obtained. It was found that the studied epoxides belong to the class of very weak СH-acids (pKa = 28-30).

The mechanism of reactions of silatranes and germatranes, and their bicyclic and monocyclic analogues with one molecule of methanol or ethanol, was studied at the Density Functional Theory (DFT) B3PW91/6-311++G(df,p) level of theory. Reactions of 1-substituted sil(germ)atranes, 2,2-disubstituted sil(germ)ocanes, and 1,1,1-trisubstituted hyposil(germ)atranes with alcohol (methanol, ethanol) proceed in one step through four-center transition states followed by the opening of a silicon or germanium skeleton and the formation of products. According to quantum chemical calculations, the activation energies and Gibbs energies of activation of reactions with methanol and ethanol are close, their values decrease in the series of atranes–ocanes–hypoatranes for interactions with both methanol and ethanol. The reactions of germanium-containing derivatives are characterized by lower activation energies in comparison with the reactions of corresponding silicon-containing compounds. The annular configurations of the product molecules with electronegative substituents are stabilized by the transannular N→X (X = Si, Ge) bond and different intramolecular hydrogen contacts with the participation of heteroatoms of substituents at the silicon or germanium.

The optimized molecular structures and vibrational frequencies and also gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO)1H and13C NMR shift values of benzoylcholine chloride [(2-benzoyloxyethyl) trimethyl ammonium chloride] have been calculated using density functional theory (B3LYP) method with 6-31++G(d) basis set. The comparison of the experimental and calculated infrared (IR), Raman, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra has indicated that the experimental spectra are formed from the superposition of the spectra of two lowest energy conformers of the compound. So, it was concluded that the compound simultaneously exists in two optimized conformers in the ground state. Also the natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis has supported the simultaneous exiting of two conformers in the ground state. The calculated optimized geometric parameters (bond lengths and bond angles) and vibrational frequencies for both the lowest energy conformers were seen to be in a well agreement with the corresponding experimental data.
