Under complex working conditions, vehicle adaptive cruise control (ACC) systems with fixed weight coefficients cannot guarantee good car following performance under all conditions. In order to improve the tracking and comfort of vehicles in different modes, a fuzzy model predictive control (Fuzzy-MPC) algorithm is proposed. Based on the comprehensive consideration of safety, comfort, fuel economy and vehicle limitations, the objective function and constraints are designed. A relaxation factor vector is introduced to soften the hard constraint boundary in order to solve this problem, for which there was previously no feasible solution. In order to maintain driving stability under complex conditions, a multi-objective optimization method, which can update the weight coefficient online, is proposed. In the numerical simulation, the values of velocity, relative distance, acceleration and acceleration change rate under different conditions are compared, and the results show that the proposed algorithm has better tracking and stability than the traditional algorithm. The effectiveness and reliability of the Fuzzy-MPC algorithm are verified by co-simulation with the designed PID lower layer control algorithm with front feedforward and feedback.

The complex characteristics of the gas turbine in a combined cycle unit have brought great difficulties in its control process. Meanwhile, the increasing emphasis on the efficiency, safety, and cleanliness of the power generation process also makes it significantly important to put forward advanced control strategies to satisfy the desired control demands of the gas turbine system. Therefore, aiming at higher control performance of the gas turbine in the gas-steam combined cycle process, a novel fuzzy model predictive control (FMPC) strategy based on the fuzzy selection mechanism and simultaneous heat transfer search (SHTS) algorithm is presented in this paper. The objective function of rolling optimization in this novel FMPC consists of two parts which represent the state optimization and output optimization. In the weight coefficient selection of those two parts, the fuzzy selection mechanism is introduced to overcome the uncertainties existing in the system. Furthermore, on account of the rapidity of the control process, the SHTS algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem rather than the traditional quadratic programming method. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed through simulation experiments of the gas turbine in a combined power plant. The simulation results demonstrate the remarkable superiorities of the adopted algorithm with higher control precision and stronger disturbance rejection ability as well as less optimization time.

This paper proposes a model predictive control method based on dynamic multi-objective optimization algorithms (MPC_CPDMO-NSGA-II) for reducing freeway congestion and relieving environment impact simultaneously. A new dynamic multi-objective optimization algorithm based on clustering and prediction with NSGA-II (CPDMO-NSGA-II) is proposed. The proposed CPDMO-NSGA-II algorithm is used to realize on-line optimization at each control step in model predictive control. The performance indicators considered in model predictive control consists of total time spent, total travel distance, total emissions and total fuel consumption. Then TOPSIS method is adopted to select an optimal solution from Pareto front obtained from MPC_CPDMO-NSGA-II algorithm and is applied to the VISSIM environment. The control strategies are variable speed limit (VSL) and ramp metering (RM). In order to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, the proposed algorithm is tested under the simulation environment originated from a real freeway network in Shanghai with one on-ramp. The result is compared with fixed speed limit strategy and single optimization method respectively. Simulation results show that it can effectively alleviate traffic congestion, reduce emissions and fuel consumption, as compared with fixed speed limit strategy and classical model predictive control method based on single optimization method.
