In this paper, we introduce a new construction method of a fuzzy implication from n increasing functions g i : [ 0 , 1 ] → [ 0 , ∞ ) ,   ( g ( 0 ) = 0 ) ( i = 1 , 2 , … , n ,   n   ∈ ℕ ) and n + 1 fuzzy negations N i ( i = 1 , 2 , … , n + 1 ,   n   ∈ ℕ ). Imagine that there are plenty of combinations between n increasing functions g i and n + 1 fuzzy negations N i in order to produce new fuzzy implications. This method allows us to use at least two fuzzy negations N i and one increasing function g in order to generate a new fuzzy implication. Choosing the appropriate negations, we can prove that some basic properties such as the exchange principle (EP), the ordering property (OP), and the law of contraposition with respect to N are satisfied. The worth of generating new implications is valuable in the sciences such as artificial intelligence and robotics. In this paper, we have found a novel method of generating families of implications. Therefore, we would like to believe that we have added to the literature one more source from which we could choose the most appropriate implication concerning a specific application. It should be emphasized that this production is based on a generalization of an important form of Yager’s implications.

In the recent years, several new construction methods of fuzzy implications have been proposed. However, these construction methods actually care about that the new implication could preserve more properties. In this paper, we introduce a new method for constructing fuzzy implications based on an aggregation function with F (1,  0) =1, a fuzzy implication I and a non-decreasing function φ, called FIφ-construction. Specifically, some logical properties of fuzzy implications preserved by this construction are studied. Moreover, it is studied how to use the FIφ-construction to produce a new implication satisfying a specific property. Furthermore, we produce two new subclasses of fuzzy implications such as UIφ-implications and GpIφ-implications by this method and discuss some additional properties. Finally, we provide a way to generate fuzzy subsethood measures by means of FIφ-implications.

In this paper, we introduce and study the GD′-operations, which are a hyper class of the known D′-operations. GD′-operations are in fact D′-operations, that are generated not only from the same fuzzy negation. Similar with D′-operations, they are not always fuzzy implications. Nevertheless, some sufficient, but not necessary conditions for a GD′-operation to be a fuzzy implication, will be proved. A study for the satisfaction, or the violation of the basic properties of fuzzy implications, such as the left neutrality property, the exchange principle, the identity principle and the ordering property will also be made. This study also completes the study of the basic properties of D′-implications. At the end, surprisingly an unexpected new result for the connection of the QL-operations and D-operations will be presented.

Image registration has always been an important research topic. This paper proposes a novel method of constructing descriptors called the histogram of oriented local binary pattern descriptor (HOLBP) for fast and robust matching. There are three new components in our algorithm. First, we redefined the gradient and angle calculation template to make it more sensitive to edge information. Second, we proposed a new construction method of the HOLBP descriptor and improved the traditional local binary pattern (LBP) computation template. Third, the principle of uniform rotation-invariant LBP was applied to add 10-dimensional gradient direction information to form a 138-dimension HOLBP descriptor vector. The experimental results showed that our method is very stable in terms of accuracy and computational time for different test images.

AbstractThe rapid advances in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics will have a profound impact on society as they will interfere with the people and their interactions. Intelligent autonomous robots, independent if they are humanoid/anthropomorphic or not, will have a physical presence, make autonomous decisions, and interact with all stakeholders in the society, in yet unforeseen manners. The symbiosis with such sophisticated robots may lead to a fundamental civilizational shift, with far-reaching effects as philosophical, legal, and societal questions on consciousness, citizenship, rights, and legal entity of robots are raised. The aim of this work is to understand the broad scope of potential issues pertaining to law and society through the investigation of the interplay of law, robots, and society via different angles such as law, social, economic, gender, and ethical perspectives. The results make it evident that in an era of symbiosis with intelligent autonomous robots, the law systems, as well as society, are not prepared for their prevalence. Therefore, it is now the time to start a multi-disciplinary stakeholder discussion and derive the necessary policies, frameworks, and roadmaps for the most eminent issues.

A control program was designed with Unity 5 virtual reality application in the automotive and robotics field. Thus, a virtual model of a robotic car was tested in a virtual reality program. After optimization, the smart controller was implemented on a specific model of the automated Chevrolet Camaro. The main objective of the present paper is to design a control program model to be tested in virtual reality and in a real-size car. Results concerning the virtual modeling of an automated car and its artificial intelligence controls have been presented and discussed, outlining the forces, torques, and context awareness capabilities of the car.

Number of responses and time to extinction were measured after 3, 10, 1000, 3000, 5000, and 10,000 reinforced key-peck responses during conditioning. Each response was reinforced with a 045-gm. food pellet. The number of responses in extinction was a monotonically increasing function which became asymptotic beyond 1000 reinforced responses. Number of reinforced responses during conditioning significantly affected the number of responses in extinction ( p < .001) but not the time to extinction. The results support the findings of previous free-operant bar-press studies with rats. Free-operant animal studies of extinction after continuous reinforcement have consistently produced monotonically increasing functions and have typically employed relatively small amounts of reinforcement. Amount of reward may be an important parameter determining the shape of the extinction function in the free-operant studies.
