The Vitaceae Juss., in the basal lineages of Rosids, contains sixteen genera and 950 species, mainly of tropical lianas. The family has been divided in five tribes: Ampelopsideae, Cisseae, Cayratieae, Parthenocisseae and Viteae. Seed shape is variable in this family. Based on new models derived from equations representing heart and water drop curves, we describe seed shape in species of the Vitaceae. According to their similarity to geometric models, the seeds of the Vitaceae have been classified in ten groups. Three of them correspond to models before described and shared with the Arecaceae (lenses, superellipses and elongated water drops), while in the seven groups remaining, four correspond to general models (waterdrops, heart curves, elongated heart curves and other elongated models) and three adjust to the silhouettes of seeds in particular genera (heart curves of Cayratia and Pseudocayratia, heart curves of the Squared Heart Curve (SqHC) type of Ampelocissus and Ampelopsis and Elongated Superellipse-Heart Curves (ESHCs), frequent in Tetrastigma species and observed also in Cissus species and Rhoicissus rhomboidea). The utilities of the application of geometric models for seed description and shape quantification in this family are discussed.

Seed shape in species of the Cactaceae is described by comparison with geometric models. Three new groups of models are presented, two for symmetric seeds, and a third group for asymmetric seeds. The first two groups correspond, respectively, to superellipses and the combined equations of two semi-ellipses. The third group contains models derived from the representation of polar equations of Archimedean spirals that define the shape of asymmetric seeds in genera of different subfamilies. Some of the new models are geometric curves, while others are composed with a part resulting from the average silhouettes of seeds. The application of models to seed shape quantification permits the analysis of variation in seed populations, as well as the comparison of shape between species. The embryos of the Cactaceae are of the peripheral type, strongly curved and in contact with the inner surface of the seed coat. A relationship is found between seed elongation and the models, in which the genera with elongated seeds are represented by models with longer trajectories of the spiral. The analysis of seed shape opens new opportunities for taxonomy and allows quantification of seed shape in species of the Cactaceae.

Abstract Finite Element Model Updating has for objective to increase the correlation between the experimental dynamic responses of a structure and the predictions from a model. Among different initial choices, these procedures need to establish a set of representative parameters to be updated in which some are in real error and some are not. It is therefore important to select the correct properties that have to be updated to ensure that no marginal corrections are introduced. In this paper the standard localization criteria are presented and a technique to separate the global localization criteria in family-based criteria for damped structures is introduced. The methods are analyzed and applied to both numerical and experimental examples; a clear enhancement of the results is noticed using the family-based criteria. A simple way to qualify the stability of a localization method to noise is presented.

A Theory is developed, based on the very limited available experimental evidence, to predict the distortion and disintegration of a water drop when it is exposed to a stream of air with continuously increasing relative velocity. The theory is applied to water drops situated in the path of a solid sphere moving through the air.

Objective: Nonsyndromic oral clefts are common birth defect with complex etiology. In the present study, we attempt to further validate the possible role for ABCA4 and ARHGAP29 in the susceptibility to nonsyndromic oral clefts. Design: We performed allelic transmission disequilibrium test analysis, on 10 eligible single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and SNP haplotypes using the Family-Based Association Test. Participants: The study sample consisted of 334 case–parent trios of nonsyndromic oral clefts from Taiwanese population, separated into nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P) and nonsyndromic cleft palate only (NSCPO) groups. Results: We found only the SNP rs560426 within the ABCA4 gene showed strong association with NSCPO ( P = .03498; Permuted P = .05382). No association between other 9 selected SNPs in ABCA4-ARHGAP29 region and the risk of nonsyndromic oral clefts was found. For the haplotype analyses, we found only haplotype T-C (rs570926 and rs3789431) in ABCA4 block 2 showed significant association with nonsyndromic NSCL/P in these Taiwanese trios. Conclusions: We used a family-based analysis in 334 Taiwanese case–parent trios to validate the possible role for ABCA4 and ARHGAP29 in the susceptibility to nonsyndromic oral clefts. This study provides a new evidence for an association between the intron variant rs560426 within ABCA4 and nonsyndromic cleft palate which may contribute their regulatory role in craniofacial development.

Marriage is a spiritual bond between a man and a woman to form a happy and eternal home or family based on the Godhead. Nevertheless, many divorces still occur in the community today. Suscatin is a solution provided by the Government to overcome divorce which is getting higher every year. But there are still obstacles in the organization of Suscatin. The Suscatin implementation is still done manually, where to conduct the exam the bride and groom write on a piece of paper. In addition, the implementation was carried out on the effective day, so the bride and groom could not attend. For this reason, this research was conducted to design a web-based learning system that can facilitate the Office of Religious Affairs and prospective brides. So that the material about marriage can be studied without any obstacles both in terms of time and place of implementation. It is expected to be able to anticipate disputes and divorce as well as violence in the family in order to create a sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah family

The concept of Child Education Management according to the Qur'an". The Qur'an is a revelation of God which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad as the eternal miracle of all time. The Qur'an is the Holy Book of the Muslims which contains guidelines for a happy life and guidance of the world and the hereafter. It contains worship, morals, exemplary story, occult news, universe and so on. Even the Qur'an mentions that It also functioned as an explanation of all things (tibyanan likulli sya-in) (QS. An Nahl/16:89). This reaffirms that there is no exception, everything in the universe has
its explanation from the Holy Qur'an. No exception regarding family issues, especially related to parenting and education for children who grew up in his family environment. The main problems in this research is how is the concept of child education management according to the Qur'an in the
family? In line with that, the Holy Qur'an encourage every parent to feel worried, if then behind the day after, they left a weak generation (QS. An Nisa '/4:9). This is the requirement so that each moslem parent are able to manage their children's education so they can grow and develop a independently. For that, it needs a pattern and attempts so that the process can go as desired. The method used in the writing of this thesis is the method of thematic tafseer (maudhu'i). And the purpose of the research is to be able to find the concept of child education management in a family that Qur'anic. Ultimately it is hoped that the concept of child education management within the family based on the Qur'an will be the solution to achieve the goals of parents to have pleasant children (QS. Al Furqan/25:74), starting with the planning (planning) (QS. Al Anfal/8:60),
organizations (organizing) (QS. Ash Shaff/61:4), applications (actuiting) (QS. At-Tawba: 105/9) and control (controlling) (QS. QAF/50:16-18). The four stages above, are big agendas for each moslem family in order for their children to become shalih and shalihah. Good cooperation between husband and wife in dividing duties and obligations as a father and mother became the key word in determining the success of the process of upbringing and education of their children to become a perfect human being as they expected

Keyword : management, education, child, family

In order to measure the electric insulation performance of the electrical equipment in rainy weather, its essential to design a rain device to simulate different conditions of rainfall. In this paper, a motion model of raindrop sprayed by the rain device and differential equations describing its motion characteristics are built. Basing on the analysis of water drop motion, a set of simulation software is developed for the selection of rain test device and the analysis of test results. The software can simulate the water drops motion process from nozzle to test equipment, and the simulation results is almost the same with field test, so the simulation software provides the basis for the design of rain test device.
