While China’s sharing economy slows down and enters a period of structural adjustment, the coworking industry is a new force. Moreover, after China had issued important policies to support the comprehensive upgrading and the sustainable development of mass entrepreneurship and mass innovation in September 2018, the development potential of the coworking industry became even greater. However, the coworking industry also faces many development bottlenecks, such as the homogeneity of services and the single-profit model. Therefore, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to realize the sustainable development of the coworking industry to facilitate mass entrepreneurship and innovation in China. The coworking industry is both a subindustry of sharing economy and a branch of the Internet industry, with the significant characteristic of networking. Therefore, we used social-network analysis (SNA) to build a three-level index system of China’s coworking industry: the density-comprehensive index at the macrolevel, the subgroup comprehensive index at the mesolevel, and the centrality-comprehensive index at the microlevel, so as to scientifically measure the development status of the coworking industry. In addition, the comprehensive index system was applied to a comparative study of the six models that were formed in actual development. Analytical results indicate that China coworking industry formed a good network with rich ecological diversity. Different from other countries, China’s coworking industry has embodied a profound gene of entrepreneurship and innovation since its early stage of development. Internet giant enterprises Alibaba, Tencent, and Baidu are playing an important role in the development of China’s coworking industry, and all have strategic layouts among several models.

Education is considered an essential tool for achieving sustainability-related goals. In this regard, education for sustainable development (ESD) and climate change education (CCE) have become prominent concepts. The central characteristics of both concepts influence the non-hierarchical network governance structure that has formed around them: (1) their international origin, (2) the conceptual ambiguity that surrounds them, and (3) the limited implementing power of international organizations who developed these concepts. Hence, networks are essential to ESD and CCE, however, only few studies have used social network analysis (SNA) techniques to analyze their governance structure. The aim of this article is to illustrate how to use SNA, based on Twitter data, as an approach to examine the governance structure that has developed around ESD and CCE. We conduct an illustrative SNA, using Twitter data during three global climate change summits (2015-2017) to examine CCE-specific debates and identify actors exerting the most influence. We find that international organizations and international treaty secretariats are most influential across all years of the analysis and, moreover, are represented most often. These findings show that using SNA based on Twitter data offers promising possibilities to better understand the governance structure and processes around both concepts.

Green buildings have been viewed as one of the most effective solutions to the negative environmental impacts of construction activities. For the sustainable development of the economy and the environment, many governments in the world have launched a variety of policies to encourage the development of green buildings. However, green targets achieved during the operational stage of green buildings are far below the expectations from the design stage. In addition, the development of green buildings is unevenly distributed in different cities. To help resolve these issues, this paper identifies 28 green building influencing factors from two perspectives, the life cycle and stakeholders. Then, a social network analysis is used to analyse their interactions and identify the critical factors. Our results show that government supervision, incremental cost, property management experience, and the awareness of environmental protection in green buildings are the critical influencing factors in promoting green building development. However, some factors related to contractors, designers and suppliers are not as important as perceived. Finally, some policy recommendations are proposed to promote green buildings in China.

SOCIAL CAPITAL AND SOLIDARITY TOURISM: THE DISCOHESION OF COHESION IN THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT POLICY FOR SERRO Abstract: For the creators of the Programa Turismo Solidário – PTS (Solidarity Tourism Program), cooperation is the master key of sustainable development. It results from a kind of social capital that consists of bonds of mutual trust among the actors involved in the collective action. Therefore, the complete fulfillment of the program's objectives demanded a sufficient supply of social capital circulating through the social networks of the localities in the Serro area included in the PTS. This paper aims to analyze the connections between the relational perspective of social capital and the problem of collective action in this sociospatial context in Minas Gerais. Resorting to the theoretical and methodological framework of Social Network Resorting to the theoretical and methodological framework of Social Network Analysis in order to clarify these connections allowed us to see that the formulation of PTS and how it was implemented in São Gonçalo do Rio das Pedras, Milho Verde e Capivari contributed to the lack of cohesion in the tourism social networks and, as a result, the failure of PTS. AbstractWhen the world’s countries agreed on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, they recognized that equity and inclusion should be at the center of implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 15, which calls for protecting, restoring, and promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, has spurred commitments to restore 350 million hectares of land by 2030. These commitments, primarily made in a top-down manner at the international scale, must be implemented by actively engaging individual landholders and local communities. Ensuring that diverse and marginalized audiences are engaged in the land restoration movement is critical to equitably distributing the economic benefits of restoration. This publication uses social network analysis and machine learning to understand how important the voices of Africans, women, and young people are in governing restoration in Africa. We analyze location- and machine learning-identified demographics from Twitter data collected during the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), which is the world’s largest platform for promoting sustainable land use practices. Our results suggest that convening the GLF in Nairobi, Kenya elevated the voices of African leaders in comparison to the previous GLF in Bonn, Germany. We also found significant demographic differences in topic-level engagement between different ages, races, and genders. The primary contributions of this paper are a novel methodology for quantifying demographic differences in social media engagement and the application of social media and social network analysis to provide critical insights into the inclusivity of a large political conference aimed at engaging youth and African voices.
