As the core component of the valve cooling system in a converter station, the main pump plays a major role in ensuring the stable operation of the valve. Thus, accurate and efficient fault diagnosis of the main pump according to vibration signals is of positive significance for the detection of failure equipment and reducing the maintenance cost. This paper proposed a new neural network based on the vibration signals of the main pump to classify four faults and one normal state of the main pump, which consisted of a convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM). Multi-scale features were extracted by two CNNs with different kernel sizes, and temporal features were extracted by LSTM. Moreover, random sampling was used in data processing for imbalanced data, which is meaningful for data symmetry. Experimental results indicated that the accuracy of the network was 0.987 obtained from the test set, and the average values of F1-score, recall, and precision were 0.987, 0.987, and 0.988, respectively. It was found that the proposed network performed well in a multi-label fault diagnosis of the main pump and was superior to other methods.

Effective diagnosis of vibration fault is of practical significance to ensure the safe and stable operation of power transformers. Aiming at the traditional problems of transformer vibration fault diagnosis, a novel feature extraction method based on complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN) and multi-scale dispersion entropy (MDE) was proposed. In this paper, CEEMDAN method is used to decompose the original transformer vibration signal. Additionally, then MDE is used to capture multi-scale fault features in the decomposed intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Next, the principal component analysis (PCA) method is employed to reduce the feature dimension and extract the effective information in vibration signals. Finally, the simplified features are sent into density peak clustering (DPC) to get the fault diagnosis results. The experimental data analysis shows that CEEMDAN-MDE can effectively extract the information of the original vibration signals and DPC can accurately diagnose the types of transformer faults. By comparing different algorithms, the practicability and superiority of this proposed method are verified.

Bearings are the key and important components of rotating machinery. Effective bearing fault diagnosis can ensure operation safety and reduce maintenance costs. This paper aims to develop a novel bearing fault diagnosis method via an improved multi-scale convolutional neural network (IMSCNN). In traditional convolutional neural network (CNN), a fixed convolutional kernel is often employed in the convolutional layer. Thus, informative features can not be fully extracted for fault diagnosis. In the proposed IMSCNN, a 1D dimensional convolutional layer is used to mitigate the effect of noise contained in vibration signals. Then, four dilated convolutional kernels with different dilation rates are integrated to extract multi-scale features through the inception structure. Experimental results from the popular CWRU and PU datasets show the superiority of the proposed method by comparison with other related methods.

With the development of the wide-area monitoring system (WAMS), power system operators are capable of providing an accurate and fast estimation of time-varying load parameters. This study proposes a spatial-temporal deep network-based new attention concept to capture the dynamic and static patterns of electrical load consumption through modeling complicated and non-stationary interdependencies between time sequences. The designed deep attention-based network benefits from long short-term memory (LSTM) based component to learning temporal features in time and frequency-domains as encoder-decoder based recurrent neural network. Furthermore, to inherently learn spatial features, a convolutional neural network (CNN) based attention mechanism is developed. Besides, this paper develops a loss function based on a pseudo-Huber concept to enhance the robustness of the proposed network in noisy conditions as well as improve the training performance. The simulation results on IEEE 68-bus demonstrates the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed network through comparison with several previously presented and state-of-the-art methods.

Accurate and reliable fault diagnosis is one of the key and difficult issues in mechanical condition monitoring. In recent years, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has been widely used in mechanical condition monitoring, which is also a great breakthrough in the field of bearing fault diagnosis. However, CNN can only extract local features of signals. The model accuracy and generalization of the original vibration signals are very low in the process of vibration signal processing only by CNN. Based on the above problems, this paper improves the traditional convolution layer of CNN, and builds the learning module (local feature learning block, LFLB) of the local characteristics. At the same time, the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) is introduced into the network, which is used to extract the global features. This paper proposes the new neural network—improved CNN-LSTM network. The extracted deep feature is used for fault classification. The improved CNN-LSTM network is applied to the processing of the vibration signal of the faulty bearing collected by the bearing failure laboratory of Inner Mongolia University of science and technology. The results show that the accuracy of the improved CNN-LSTM network on the same batch test set is 98.75%, which is about 24% higher than that of the traditional CNN. The proposed network is applied to the bearing data collection of Western Reserve University under the condition that the network parameters remain unchanged. The experiment shows that the improved CNN-LSTM network has better generalization than the traditional CNN.

Abstract Traditional engine fault diagnosis methods usually need to extract the features manually before classifying them by the pattern recognition method, which makes it difficult to solve the end-to-end fault diagnosis problem. In recent years, deep learning has been applied in different fields, bringing considerable convenience to technological change, and its application in the automotive field also has many applications, such as image recognition, language processing, and assisted driving. In this paper, a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) in deep learning is used to process vibration signals to achieve fault diagnosis and classification. By collecting the vibration signal data of different engine working conditions, the collected data are organized into several sets of data in a working cycle, which are divided into a training sample set and a test sample set. Then, a one-dimensional convolutional neural network model is built in Python to allow the feature filter (convolution kernel) to learn the data from the training set and these convolution checks process the input data of the test set. Convolution and pooling extract features to output to a new space, which is characterized by learning features directly from the original vibration signals and completing fault diagnosis. The experimental results show that the pattern recognition method based on a one-dimensional convolutional neural network can be effectively applied to engine fault diagnosis and has higher diagnostic accuracy than traditional methods.
