Meningiomas are the most common dural tumour, but there are also many other dural masses which mimic their appearances, such as neoplastic and non-neoplastic lesions. In this paper we report another mass which may mimic a dural lesion, namely a muscle graft harvested from the temporal site and left in situ, used to achieve haemostasis in a posttraumatic temporal extradural hematoma in a young male patient. Solid knowledge of differentiating neuroimaging characteristics of dural masses, as well as its corroboration with the patient’s medical history are extremely helpful in establishing an accurate diagnostic.

Objective Current recommendations for cochlear hydrops treatment include systemic glucocorticoids and diuretics. Cochlear cells express dopamine receptors, although their role is unknown in the pathophysiology of cochlear hydrops. Case Description We report the case of remission of recurrent right-sided cochlear hydrops in a young male patient treated with bromocriptine due to pituitary macroprolactinoma. Transient improvement was observed after oral steroid and diuretic treatment, but cochlear hydrops recurred until the dose of bromocriptine was increased to 10 mg daily. Conclusion Bromocriptine may stimulate dopamine receptors in cochlear cells with potential therapeutic role in patients with cochlear hydrops. There are no widely accepted and effective treatments for endolymphatic hydrops, and identifying potential new and efficacious therapeutics is of high relevance.

SummarySevere acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the etiological agent of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), produces protean manifestations and causes indiscriminate havoc in multiple organ systems. This rapid and vast production of proinflammatory cytokines contributes to a condition termed cytokine storm. A 35-year-old, otherwise healthy, employed, male patient was tested positive for COVID-19. He was admitted to the hospital on disease day 10 due to retarded verbal reactions and progressive delirium. On account of these conditions and the need for noninvasive/invasive ventilation, a combination treatment with baricitinib and remdesivir in conjunction with standard of care was initiated. The cytokine storm was rapidly blocked, leading to a vast pulmonary recovery with retarded recovery of the central nervous system. We conclude that the rapid blockade of the COVID-19-induced cytokine storm should be considered of avail as a principle of careful decision-making for effective recovery.

Pilonidal sinus in the sacrococcygeal region is an acquired condition and usually seen in young male adults. Diagnosis is indicated by to see the site and appearance of chronic discharging opening, and identification of midline pit in the natal cleft. The management of the sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus varies from clipping of hairs with good hygiene of the area, wide excision of the area with primary or secondary closure and newer flap procedures, but none is widely accepted. The main concern for the treatment to the patient is the recurrence. This prospective study has been performed to determine the effectiveness and safety of the Limberg flap procedure for sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus for new and recurrent cases. Primary end point was rate of recurrence and secondary end points were its complianceand complications such as wound infection, postoperative pain and return to work. A total of 17 patients were operated from March 2012 to June 2016.Both primary and recurrent diseases were included. All patients successfully underwent surgery. Patients complained very minimal postoperative pain. LO were average 2 days. All patients were discharged with negative suction drain in situ. Drains were removed on 7th POD and stitches were removed on 9th to 12th postoperative day. All patients returned to work after 2nd weeks. In our study no recurrence or major complications were found. Limberg flap for sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus was found very useful and effective in terms of recurrence rate and patients morbidity. J Shaheed Suhrawardy Med Coll, December 2020, Vol.12(1); 6-8

The first 100 words appear below:</span></p><p>A 15 year old male patient came to the Department with the complaint of continuous dull pain on his upper left central incisor. He also gave a history of traumatic injury when he was eight years old for which he didn't undergo any dental treatment. He had noncontributory medical history. On extraoral examination, no abnormality was detected. Intraoral examination revealed there was no sign of caries, no crown discoloration, no swelling and no sinus tract was present. Gingival tissue and tooth were intact. On palpation, the patient felt mild pain on the root area of affected tooth. On percussion, dull percussion note was present.</p>
