Purpose: This study analyzed the bibliometric characteristics of publications on inclusive education in the Social Science Citation Index and Science Citation Index Expanded in the Web of Science Core Collection from 1992 to 2020.Methods: Terms related to “inclusive education” and “inclusion of education” were used as keywords to search for journal articles on July 3, 2020.Results: There were 1,786 articles, representing 3,376 authors, in the 345 journals scanned. The United States, United Kingdom, and Australia were the three leading countries/regions in this field. In the top 12 countries, the top 15 institutions and the top 10 most-cited journals were identified by either the number of publications or the number of total citations. Core themes from the 30 most highly-cited articles were teachers’ attitudes, teachers’ self-efficacy, and the effects of inclusive education. Teachers included both pre-service and in-service teachers; students represented those with and without special educational needs. Conclusion: The results indicate that the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia dominated inclusive education research, originating most of the highly-cited articles, having more prolific authors, and presenting the most-cited institutions. Furthermore, three emerging core themes from the 30 most highly-cited articles were teachers’ attitudes, teachers’ self-efficacy, and the effects of inclusive education. Frontline teachers are recommended to submit manuscripts about their teaching experiences to the most-cited journals, which have a large readership. To measure the effects of inclusive education, it is essential to formulate reliable, valid, and culture-free research instruments for future studies.

Introduction: In contrast with other tropical countries, Cuba has been frequently studied from the point of views of scientometrics. It has been reported that Cuban researchers often failed to cite other Cuban researchers or to collaborate with them, and that 78 % of the Cuban scientifc output is published in Cuban journals and mostly missed by Scopus and the Web of Science. Objective: In this article, we analyze article characteristics (subject, language, authorship), institutions and journals that appear in the Science Citation Index Expanded, as well as citations from the Web of Science Core Collection. Methods: We analyzed publications from Cuba, dated 1900 to 2019, that reached the index. Results: We retrieved a total of 23576 publications, mostly articles. In this database, English is the dominant language, and, over time, articles have become longer and increased the number of authors and references. Numerically, the leading institution is Universidad de La Habana. Research is strongly concentrated around medical subjects. Collaboration teams lead by foreign authors have more citations recorded by the database, where the number of Cuban articles has decreased after 2008. Conclusion: For Cuban publications that reach the Science Citation Index Expanded (under 22%), most research is applied to health subjects and productivity has decreased in the last decade.

The Web of Science Core Collection is a highly selective, abstract-indexed scientometric database, which currently includes more than 21 thousand scientific journals of all specialties published in 110 countries. The database contains three specialized indexes: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Art and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) and a multidisciplinary Emerging Source Citation Index (ESCI). Today there are 15 Ukrainian journals included in the SCIE and 68 in the ESCI. Unfortunately, since 2015, no Ukrainian journals have moved from ESCI to specialized indexes; moreover, several Ukrainian journals were excluded for publishing ethics violations. In 2019, the criteria of journal evaluation were updated/clarified. Today there are 28 criteria; 24 of them (quality criteria) are a prerequisite for inclusion into the ESCI. Journals applying to specialized indexes are evaluated according to four additional criteria of influence. The evaluation is carried out by the Clarivate Editorial Board consisting of company employees, who, in addition to professional skills, do not have any conflicts of interest. To initiate the journal evaluation process, the publisher fills out an online form and continues to publish the journal in a timely manner. Evaluation and subsequent indexing of the journal in the Web of Science Core Collection is a free procedure and the criteria are presented in the article.

The findings of the study of Russian publications array of 2010-2019 are presented. The dynamics for the ten-year period (2010-2019) is demonstrated. For completeness, two of the most authoritative international polythematic resources, i. e. Web of Science Core Collection (WoS CC) and Scopus, were analyzed in parallel. The dynamics of Russian publications is presented in two versions: all types of publications indexed by the systems, and selected types of publications (research articles, reviews, book chapters, and letters). The positive dynamics of the share of Russian publications within the global array was determined, as well as the increase in Russia’s rating positions in terms of the number of publications in the period 2010-2019, were determined. The publications with Russian participation are represented in all 153 science areas (the WOS CC classifier "Research Areas"), however, the barrier of 1% of the total segment of Russian publications reflected in the WoS CC was cleared just in 42 areas. It is demonstrated that in the recent years, along with the decreasing tendency for the share of publications in physics and chemistry within the Russian publication array, there has been an increase in the rate of publications in the technical, social sciences and the humanities. The Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), a WoS CC member since 2015, promotes intensively the works in the humanities and social sciences to the world publishing space. Despite the decrease in the rate of physics and chemistry in the Russian publication segment, these areas remain the undisputed leaders in the share of publications in WoS CC.

The current research conducts a bibliometric performance and intellectual structure analysis of El profesional de la información(EPI) from 2006 to 2017. On the one hand, the EPI’s performance is analyzed according to the data retrieved from the database Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), part of Web of Science Core Collection, putting the focus on the productivity of the authors, number of references, organizations, countries and main publications. On the other hand, the intellectual structure of the journal is analyzed with SciMAT, an open source (GPLv3) bibliometric software tool developed to perform a science mapping analysis under a longitudinal framework, identifying the main thematic areas that have been the object of research, their composition, relationship and evolution during the period analyzed.

AbstractRationale and ObjectiveCitation-based metrics are frequently used to evaluate the academic performance of a publication. One such metric is the number of citations an article receives, however this is not an infallible index. To account for biases of this metric the category-normalised citation index (CNCI), termed ‘impact’, may be used. Here the 100 highest-cited and highest-CNCI articles in radiological literature, from 2009 – 2019 is performed.Materials and MethodsThe Web of Science Core Collection and InCites (Clarivate Analytics) databases were accessed for the citations and CNCI values for articles published in the 186 journals with category “radiology, nuclear medicine, and medical imaging” between 2009 and 2019. The top 100 articles with the highest citation count and highest CNCI values were collected. Article parameters were analysed including title, year of publication, citation count, CNCI, field of study and modality studied were analysed.ResultsFifty-three articles were common to both lists. Neuroradiology was the most prevalent subspecialty studied in both the highest-cited (n = 68) and highest-impact (n = 41) lists, respectively. The most frequently utilised imaging modality was magnetic resonance imaging (n = 64 and 40). The highest-CNCI articles demonstrated greater variability and distribution across subspecialties, imaging modalities and year of publication when compared to the highest-cited list.ConclusionThe use of normalised bibliometric analysis tools may remove bias when evaluating research and better demonstrate the breadth of research activity. Use of these tools may provide a more robust and contemporaneous review of the landscape of research within a field.
