In Japan, a super-aging society, there is much debate about how to provide safe home care in the future. To provide safe nursing care food, it is necessary to consider not only the nutritional aspect of the diet but also the dietary form. In the case of diminished or impaired swallowing function, it is useful that the viscosity of the diet matches the ability of the care recipient to swallow the food. Therefore, in this study, we report the viscosity measurement using a commercially available thickener and a commercially available universal design food (which can crush with gums) by changing the blending amount and combination of them. In this study, we used commercially available thickener A, and thickener B, which can purchase at pharmacies and three types of commercially available universal design foods (which can crush with gums) can purchase at pharmacies. In the case of foods having a large amounts of carbohydrates, the thickener B (high in thickening polysaccharides) can stabilize the viscosity and is suitable for adjusting the viscosity.

Assuming home care for the elderly, we aimed to create a nursing food that can be created even at home, considering the combination of thickeners and foods, and creating useful data. Therefore, we used two types of thickeners that can purchase at pharmacies and three types of commercially available nursing food that can eat without chewing. Line Spread Test Start Kit (LST) manufactured by SARAYA used for viscosity measurement. The two types of thickeners used this time became more viscous when added to the food. And the viscosity of the food could be maintained over time (this time after 5minutes). However, in the case of foods rich in lipids, the thickener B was able to maintain the viscosity more than the thickener A. It is necessary to select a thickener that is compatible with the raw material ratio of the food.

OBJECTIVE: to understand the future expectations and experience of vulnerable mothers from pregnancy to their child's early years. METHODS: this qualitative study used the social phenomenology of Alfred Schütz as a framework. From January to April 2011, nine mothers from the 2009 program "Chile Grows with You" were interviewed at health centers in an urban Santiago de Chile community. RESULTS: analysis of the "lived type" led to an understanding of the mothers' real-world experience. Unexpected pregnancies in extremely vulnerable mothers are associated with feelings of hopelessness then resignation. There is no plan for the future; the mother lives in the present with great uncertainty. CONCLUSIONS: from the mothers' stories, significant patterns were identified in their experiences, yielding insights into society from these women's perspectives. For humanized, comprehensive nursing care, this expertise directs interventions designed to overcome despair in women excluded because of their invisibility and poverty.

Purpose: The National Health Insurance Service implemented a tele-consultation pilot project for in-home care using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). This study aims to investigate nurses’, doctors’, and families’ perceptions on the project. Methods: Using the pilot project database and perception survey data, this study provides a description of the satisfaction, re-participation motivation, and experiences of nurses, doctors, and families. Results: Tele-consultation for home-visit nursing was used to monitor health conditions and problems, such as pain and blood pressure, or health counseling for home-care beneficiaries. The beneficiaries' families showed higher levels of satisfaction than the service providers. Nurses and doctors had relatively positive perceptions about the usefulness of sharing information about beneficiaries, timeliness of providing nursing care, and convenience of communication. Meanwhile, nurses and doctors had negative perceptions of the sufficiency and accuracy of information obtained from tele-consultation, implying the necessity of adopting more advanced ICTs.Conclusion: This study suggests what must be considered when designing a tele-consultation service model in long-term care settings, especially in the home-visit nursing care setting. Innovative approaches using ICTs should be taken to improve home-visit nursing care quality in the era of super-aging and COVID-19.
