International construction is complicated and involves high risks. However, with the development of technological innovation, Building Information Modeling (BIM) emerged and seems to be able to address certain risks. To understand BIM applications in risk management for international construction, a state-of-the-art review is required. Therefore, this paper aims to identify the research trends and opportunities for risk management in BIM-enabled international construction by reviewing 526 peer-reviewed journal articles for the years 2007–2017. Thus five steps of bibliometric analysis were conducted based on the proposed frameworks of BIM risk management in international construction (BIM-RM-INTL). The results show that the popularization of BIM not only attracts all stakeholders’ interests but also brings some risks. For example, financial factors are hard to detect and control through BIM, information loss during transmission stands out, and BIM has no unified standards and regulations for international construction. The research has mapped existing research results and their relationships for future risk management in BIM-enabled international construction.

AbstractThe construction industry is multidisciplinary in nature and various operations are executed at the same time. One of the major resources for executing construction operations is the human workforce. Management of this workforce with effective safety provisions is a prime factor for reducing accidents on construction sites. Nowadays, technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) offer the potential to manage safety on-site with their automatic safety checking capability. BIM is a model-based smart nD platform that offers tools for architecture, engineering, and construction proficients to plan, design, and manage construction activities more efficiently. Despite its growing use globally, BIM has not been adopted sufficiently in the Indian construction industry. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the adoption of BIM in the global construction and the Indian construction industry. It also reviews the adoption of BIM for safety in the global and Indian construction industry. The bibliometric analysis is carried out in two phases, at first it reviews the adoption of BIM globally, and limits the findings to cover BIM adoption in the Indian construction industry. Secondly, it reviews the adoption of BIM for safety in global construction and limits the findings to cover BIM adoption for safety in India. Various complementary tools such as VOSviewer, iMapbuilder have been used for data analysis. The research highlights the need for BIM in India particularly for safety on construction sites.

One of the most prevailing needs of the construction industry is related to the improvement of the performance of construction processes, one of the most significant trends applied for this purpose is the modeling of construction information (BIM - Building Information Modeling) . This review shows the benefits of its application in construction projects, the knowledge of BIM from an overview of the state of the art. And finally the general description, the practical theoretical application, conclusions and recommendations are presented. Una de las necesidades más imperantes de la industria de la construcción está referida a la mejora de los rendimientos de los procesos de construcción, siendo una de las tendencias más significativas aplicadas para este propósito el modelado de información de construcción (BIM – Building Information Modeling). En la presente revisión se muestran los beneficios de su aplicación en los proyectos de construcción, el conocimiento de BIM desde una visión general del estado del arte. Y finalmente se presenta la descripción general, la aplicación teórica práctica, conclusiones y recomendaciones.

<p>目前國內有關建築資訊塑模(Building Information Modeling, 簡稱BIM)與維運需求項目並沒有產生直接對應。根據國外文獻整理,有關建築物維運管理(Facilities Management,簡稱FM)目前常用的標準如ISO55000(2014)、ISO 19650、BS1192-4(2014)、與共同資料環境(Common Data Environment,簡稱CDE)與營建資訊的交付標準(Construction Operations Building Information Exchange,簡稱COBie)等。本研究提出建築物的維運資料架構與系統建立流程,它包含BIM模型建置、IFC資料轉檔、共同資料庫建立與建築物維運系統的發展四個階段。隨著施工過程中,逐步建立BIM竣工模型的建材與設備資料,才能達成以建築物生命週期履歷落實標準化維運管理的目標。本計畫以內政部營建署執行中的三個代辦工程討論竣工模型之建材與設備交付資訊項目。目的是協助公部門工程主辦機關從施工階段的BIM執行契約可延伸到竣工階段的維運資料。本研究的成果將提供一個通用的維運資料架構與系統雛形,協助政府部門可用於執行BIM契約資料交付。</p> <p>&nbsp;</p><p>The data translation between Building Information Modeling(BIM) and Facilities Management(FM) has not been built an automatic mechanism in Taiwan currently. According to the literature review, the standards related to building FM include ISO55000 (2014), ISO 19650, BS1192-4 (2014), Common Data Environment (CDE), and Construction Operations Building Information Exchange, (COBie). The thesis proposes a framework and data delivery process for building maintenance data translation. The process includes four stages of BIM model data input, IFC data export, CDE database, and FM system development. With the construction process, the materials and equipment data will be embedded into the completion model. The completion model will assist to achieve the goal of implementing standardized maintenance management on the building life cycle. The thesis discusses the building materials and equipment delivery information of the completed model with three public-work cases by Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior. The purpose is to assist the BIM model data can link the construction to the maintenance and operation stage. The results will provide a general data requirement table system porotype that can assist the government departments to execute BIM contracts. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
