The earlier compiled collections of Tenebrionidae held at the North Eastern Regional Centre, Zoological Survey of India, Shillong were identified. The present study reports five species of Tenebrionidae belonging to three genera under three tribes of two subfamilies. The collected and identified Tenebrionid species are reported from the Mizoram state for the first time. The synonyms, distribution and images are also provided.

Steringovermes notacanthi, a new genus and species of fellodistomine digenean, is described from the deep-sea spiny eel Notacanthus bonaparte from below 1,000m depth in the north eastern Atlantic. It differs from other related genera in the unique combination of a V-shaped excretory vesicle, multilobate, mainly post-testicular ovary and extensive vitelline fields extending into both the foreand hindbody. In addition, the fellodistomine Olssonium turneri Bray & Gibson, 1980 is reported for the first time from a fish not of the genus Alepocephalus, namely the alepocephalid Narcetes stomias.

This article presents new excavation results from three oval or apsidal houses discovered at the site of Maydos-Kilisetepe (ancient Madytos), which is located near the coast of the Hellespont on the Gallipoli peninsula. The houses date to the late eighth to early sixth century bc. The material from Maydos is evaluated in comparison with the nearby site of Troy (Ilion) and situated within the wider context of developments in the north-eastern Aegean region during the Late Geometric to Early Archaic periods. From the mid-eighth to the mid-seventh century, a cultural koine existed in the north-eastern Aegean, shown by the strong similarities in material culture among the sites in the region. Troy was most probably a large regional centre, while Maydos functioned as a smaller settlement within this network. The power and influence of this koine declined or was replaced in the mid-seventh century, when there was a sudden influx of Ionian-style ceramics at Maydos, around the same time that Troy experienced a destruction. The patterns of cultural interactions changed with the establishment of Greek (primarily Ionian and Athenian) colonies on both sides of the Hellespont during the second half of the seventh to the early sixth century.

Two new species of the tribe Helopini (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) are described from Turkey: Nalassus (Nalassus) becvari sp. nov. (Elazığ Province) and Hedyphanes (Hedyphanes) kmenti sp. nov. (Artvin Province). The first species is characterized by strongly thickened antennomeres 2–8 and differs from all Turkish Nalassus s. str. Mulsant, 1854 in the ventral aspect of eye, which bears a weak posterior ventral impression (rather than a distinct groove of other species). The second species belongs to the species group with asperate punctation of the prothoracic hypomera and differs from all Hedyphanes Fischer von Waldheim, 1820 in the presence of suberect pubescence on both sides of elytral base. Distribution of some Helopini (the Helops genus-group, subtribe Helopina) from Anatolia and Cyprus is updated with new data. Hedyphanes mannerheimi Faldermann, 1837 is recorded for Turkey (Iğdır Province) for the first time. Helops caeruleus caeruleus Linnaeus, 1758 from Pervolia is a new record for Cyprus and the occurrence is probably a result of anthropogenic introduction.

The tenebrionidae collections of Western Regional Centre, Zoological Survey of India Pune were identified.  The species identified as Promethis brevicornis (Westwood, 1842) and Gebienocamaria girardi Masumoto, 1993 and collected from Sangli District and Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary, Satara, respectively constitute a new record for Maharashtra State.

In this study, Bomolochus unicirrus Brian, 1902, a species of parasitic copepod belonging to the family Bomolochidae (Claus, 1875), was reported for the first time from the north-eastern Mediterranean waters off the Turkish coast. Parasites were collected from the gill filaments of the European barracuda, Sphyraena sphyraena(L.)captured by trawling in Iskenderun Bay, Turkey. The morphological features of B. unicirrus were Redescribed and illustrated based on the newly collected material. Key diagnostic characters and newly observed details in some structures are highlighted and supported by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Differences and simply overlooked details in previous descriptions of B. unicirrus, are discussed in detail. In addition, morphological comparisons between presently reported species and the other species of the genus Bomolochus Nordmann, 1832 were also presented.

AbstractTwenty-eight noteworthy species of aphyllophoroid fungi were recorded in the Murmansk Region (north-eastern Fennoscandia, Russia). Twenty-one species were reported for the first time in the region: Ceratellopsis corneri, Clavaria amoenoides, C. flavipes, Clavulinopsis umbrinella, Fibulomyces mutabilis, Hydnomerulius pinastri, Hyphoderma sibiricum, Hypochnicium albostramineum, Lentaria afflata, L. micheneri, Peniophorella pallida, Piloderma lanatum, Postia rennyi, Pseudotomentella umbrina, Ramariopsis crocea, R. tenuicula, Sarcodon scabrosus, Sistotrema diademiferum, Typhula curvispora, T. pachypus and T. struthiopteridis. Seven species are second and third records in the forest tundra and northern boreal zone: Ceratellopsis sagittiformis, Odontia fibrosa, Phaeoclavulina flaccida, Pterula sclerotiicola, Ramariopsis tenuiramosa, Tomentellopsis echinospora and Tulasnella allantospora.

A checklist of the trees, shrubs and Hanes of Catapú, Cheringoma District, Mozambique, is presented. Floristically the study area falls within the Swahilian/Maputaland Regional Transition Zone. In total, 238 woody species and infraspecific taxa have been recorded, representing 59 families and 167 genera. Most species (64%) occur both to the north and south of the study area. 26% have their core distribution in the Swahilian Regional Centre of Endemism, 4% have a more southerly distribution. 14 are endemic to the Swahilian/Maputaland Regional Transition Zone and two near-endemic, extending into the Zambezian Regional Centre of Endemism only along the Zambezi River Valley as far west as Kariba. The checklist includes the Sena names for 191 species, 77 of which are recorded for the first time. Comparisons of the Catapú checklist are made with other checklists.

Vernonia monocephala subsp. irwinii is a member of the genus Lessingianthus and is hereby transferred to that genus with a new status and a new name, L. semirii. It differs from L. monocephalus by its subsessile to petiolate (vs. sessile) leaves, largely attenuate (vs. rounded to attenuate) leaf bases, adaxial leaf surfaces drying black (vs. greenish), tomentose to velutinous (vs. villous) abaxial leaf surface and stem indument, and number of florets per head (up to 120 vs. up to 210). Both species are native to provinces of the Cerrado Domain, but they do not occur sympatrically: L. semirii is restricted to the North-eastern floristic province (Bahia, Maranhão, Tocantins and Pará states) and northern portion of the Central-western floristic province (Mato Grosso state), whereas L. monocephalus occurs in Distrito Federal and Goiás states in the Central-western, Central and South-eastern floristic provinces. Lessingianthus semirii is hereby described and illustrated for the first time; a distribution map is provided and affinities of this species are discussed.

Abstract Leucorrhinia caudalis is listed on the European Red List as near threatened. The species had been thought to be extinct in the Czech Republic for the last fifty years, until an accidental discovery of adult males in 2012. In 2014, larvae of Leucorrhinia caudalis were recorded from water reservoirs in the Česká Lípa region, northern Bohemia, for the first time. Thus, it is the first breeding site of L. caudalis in the Czech Republic. A male Leucorrhinia caudalis was also repeatedly recorded in Havířov-Dolní Suchá in the north-eastern Czech Republic.

It is of concern to many in the North East that despite the tremendous influence Gandhi had on the region, there is as yet no detailed study of this involvement. It is appropriate that the North-Eastern Regional Centre, Anthropological Survey of India, is commemorating the life and work of the Mahatma. To an organization engaged in anthropological studies working primarily in the fields of physical anthropology and cultural anthropology and maintaining focus on indigenous populations, the study of the Mahatma is relevant, in his own time and remains so today. So significant has been his impact on humankind that for generations to come this man of peace and unique leadership will be remembered and emulated. The presentation will focus on the Indian national movement and Gandhi’s involvement and influence at the regional level in North East India.
