Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is a well-known traditional medicinal plant that thrives in Indonesia. The amount of fruit production per year can reach 1500 pieces per plant but is easily damaged, its shelf life is short, the taste of sour fruit causes not many people to consume the fruit fresh, in addition, have a low selling price and economic value. Therefore to increase the storage capacity, selling price, and economic value it is necessary to process into functional foods such as jelly drinks. This study aims to determine consumer acceptance of Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) jelly drink products. The method of this research was the design of random group. The first factor is the concentrate of carrageenans (1%; 1,5%; 2%) and the second factor is the concentrate of sugars (13%, 15%). Observations on Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) jelly drink (taste, color, aroma, suction power, and mouthfeel) by 25 untrained panelists. Organoleptic test data were analyzed by nonparametric statistical methods using the Friedman test. The results showed that the best treatments on consumer acceptance of jelly drink Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) in an organoleptic manner was obtained from treatment with 1,5% carrageenan and 15% sugar with a product value of 2,39 with a mean value of panelist favorability to taste on 6,23; the color on 7,76; aroma on 7,19; suction power on 8,5; mouthfeel on 7,54.

Tomato hybrids obtained from homozygous progeny of line 30-4, engineered for Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) resistance, were tested under field conditions in two locations with their corresponding nontransgenic hybrids. No transgenic hybrid became infected, but 33 to 50% of plants of each nontransgenic hybrid became infected with a severe reduction of marketable fruit production. The transgenic hybrids conformed to the standard agronomic characteristics of the corresponding nontransgenic ones. Fruit were collected from the nontransgenic plots included in the experimental field and from border rows, and seed were used to estimate the flow of the transgene via pollen. No transgene flow was detected in the protected crops; however, in the open field experiment, 0.32% of tomato seedlings were found to contain the genetic modification. Immunity to TSWV infection in 30-4 hybrids was confirmed in laboratory conditions using mechanical inoculation and grafting. Thrips inoculation in leaf discs of line 30-4 demonstrated that TSWV replication was inhibited at the primary infection site but not in leaf discs of a commercial hybrid containing the naturally occurring resistance gene Sw-5. Due to the high economic value of tomato crops worldwide and the importance of TSWV, the engineered resistance described here is of practical value for breeding into cultivars of commercial interest, because it could be combined with naturally occurring resistance, thus greatly reducing the ability of the virus to develop resistance-breaking strains.

Herlang Subdistrict is the largest producer of coconut juice (along with Selayar Regency and JenepontoRegency) which is the raw material for coconut sugar production in South Sulawesi. Tugondeng Village is one ofthe villages in Herlang District. About 80% of Tugondeng villagers work in the coconut sugar manufacturingindustry. However, this potential has not well developed due to the low economic value of brown sugar. To increasethe selling price of coconut sugar produced by Tugondeng Village, efforts need to be made to process coconut sapand coconut sugar into products which have higher selling price, namely palm sugar. The steps taken to achieve theobjectives of this activity were : (a) presentation of material on how to process coconut sap and coconut sugar intopalm sugar; and (b) demonstration of preparing palm sugar from coconut sap and coconut sugar. The resultsobtained show that the process of making palm sugar from coconut sap and coconut sugar is quite simple and thepalm sugar produced has longer shelf-life than coconut sugar

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; margin: 0in 0.5in 0pt;"><span style="letter-spacing: -0.15pt;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Batang;">This paper empirically tests for methodological superiority in detecting divergent earnings (the difference between actual and expected earnings).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>Divergent earnings are generated using Value Line forecasted and reported earnings data.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>Two hundred random samples of 100 cases each are drawn.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>One hundred independent two sample tests are performed with 0%, 1%, 3%, 5%, 7%, and 10 % positive earnings introduced.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>The two sample tests are performed using both parametric (t test), and nonparametric (Mann Whitney test) statistics.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>They are performed on the &ldquo;divergent earnings&rdquo; data deflated by: 1) forecasted earnings , and 2) the market price of the stock.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>The results indicate that the superior alternative is nonparametric statistical methods based upon ranks, and the deflator choice under these nonparametric methods is of little consequence.</span></span></span></p>

Fermented beverages have become a powerful player in the global beverage sector because of the increased demand for health products and their nutritional benefits to societies. This study aimed to identify consumer acceptance and willingness to pay for fermented drinks developed by MARDI. It also will evaluate the market potential of products among industry players. In this study, the data was collected using structured questionnaire and face-to-face interviews focused on the population in Peninsular Malaysia. The population's selection by stratified random sampling technique and the major survey locations included mall and hypermarket. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to discover the underlying structure of observed variables. A total of 400 respondents had participated in the study. A field survey conducted showed that 54% of respondents knew about functional foods and 55% of these are aware of functional foods based on fruits were in the market. The survey found that 30% of respondents had taken fermented drinks before, while the rest had never known this drink. Age and income have a significant influence on consumers' willingness to pay fermented drinks at a reasonable price if this product is available in the Malaysian market. Government support is needed to encourage the cultivation of indigenous fruit in Malaysia. It can be done through the provision of seed subsidies and financial resources to farmers in expanding and increasing the supply of these raw materials for the production of value-added products.

After a short introduction to martingale-based option pricing theory, we focus on two possible fields of application for nonparametric methods: the estimation of risk-neutral probabilities and the estimation of the dynamics of the underlying instruments in order to construct an internally consistent model.

This Paper investigates population I star samples from the viewpoint of the velocity distributions, each being viewed as a mixture. To obtain information on the class centers, clustering techniques are first applied. Secondly, we use a parametric maximum likelihood formulation that we solve by Redner-Walker's E.M. algorithm. The obtained results are compared and discussed from an astrophysical viewpoint.

The consumer acceptance of novel enhanced-quality products and their willingness to buy such products may be a crucial topic in the field of marketing. The aim of this study was to analyze the association between consumers’ perceptions of food quality and their acceptance of enhanced meat products and novel packaging. The study was conducted using the Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) method in a random group of 1009 respondents, who were recruited as a representative sample based on data from the Polish National Identification Number database. The participants were asked about the most important quality determinants of food products of animal origin and about quality improvement methods and their acceptance of those methods. The quality determinants of animal-based food products were indicated as follows: origin, production technology, manufacturer, components and nutritional value, visual and sensory characteristics, expiry date, and cost. The quality improvement methods were clustered into groups that were associated with product enhancement and application of novel packaging, and the acceptance of those methods was also verified. Indicating specific quality determinants of animal-derived food products affects the consumer acceptance of product enhancement (p = 0.0264) and novel packaging as quality improvement methods (p = 0.0314). The understanding that enhancement is applied for the purpose of quality improvement did not influence the acceptance of products (p = 0.1582), whereas the knowledge that novel packaging is applied influenced the acceptance (p = 0.0044). The obtained results suggested that in the case of application of novel packaging, a higher level of knowledge may be a reason for consumer’s rejection of the resulting products, but the appearance and taste of products may contribute to the higher acceptance of novel packaging. Educating consumers may improve their acceptance of product enhancement, as concerns about the addition of food preservatives may lead them to reject enhanced products.
