scholarly journals Improvement of Supply Chain Risk Management Algorithm using Modern Technologies

Essence of the risk management model in supply chains of enterprises is investigated in the article. Classification of type risks faced by enterprises in construction of their own supply chains is considered. The SCRM model is analyzed as a supply chain management tool. Necessity to introduce a risk management algorithm at enterprise using modern technologies is substantiated. Structural elements and relationships of the supply chain risk management algorithm are identified. It is justified that one of the most effective tools for identifying and analyzing risks in supply chain is big data, which should include information about the participants (elements) of the supply chain; resources used by supply chain members and / or moving between its elements; logistics processes that occur at each stage of the supply chain. It is also established that the use of block chain technology will ensure the integrity, reliability and security of information, which will form the basis of big data risk management in the supply chain, and the effective functioning of the entire supply chain risk management system.

Supply chain management paradigms are becoming increasingly common management perspectives all over the world due to violent global competition of trade organizations and rapid changes in technology. In recent years, thanks to the communication improvements, customers have become more conscious about purchasing goods or services. Furthermore, organizations have to be customer oriented and more flexible against the dynamism of supply chain environment which increases uncertainties in supply chain parameters. Although a considerable amount of risk factors appearing in supply chain operations, this study concentrates on detecting key supply chain risks which could cause abnormalities and occur from rapid changes in customer demand, unpredictable price fluctuations, defect variations and delivery delays and provides the correction of these problems automatically. Thus, a system dynamics model is established for determining risks. This combined approach would be helpful for integrated supply chain risk management.

Social network theory is an appropriate theory for understanding the relationships among the different parties in the supply chain. This article adopts the conceptual-theory framework to introduce arm's-length and close ties concepts into the field of supply chain risk management. The theoretical paradigm of social network theory is used to develop a framework and propositions for future empirical studies. Specifically, this conceptual article uses the idea of the social network theory to propose the need for firms to incorporate both the close and arm's-length ties in their supply chains. This approach of combining the two forms of ties as a composite tie within a supply chain could serve as an important supply chain risk management tool in relation to supply chain disruption and its mitigation, because of the synergistic benefits.

Under the condition of competition and cooperation allying type between enterprises promotes the formation of supply chain. Due to a large quantity of uncertain factors the supply chain will be interrupted provided some risk appears, which shows the vulnerability of the whole supply chain, and all risks of supply chain occur hereby. Supply chain risk management (SCRM) is the process of risk mitigation in supply chains achieved through collaboration, coordination and application of risk management tools among the partners, to ensure continuity coupled with long-term profitability of the supply chain. Supply chain risks emanate from multiple sources and similarly risk mitigation in supply chains is dependent on several variables. The most difficult part of supply chain risk management is prioritizing risks and an understanding of the relationships among various types of risks and risk mitigation variables. Drawing from the standard framework, in this research a modified house of quality is developed to understand the relationships between various supply chain risks and risk mitigation variables. It helps to prioritize various risks and understand the current status of the supply chain and the deficient areas with regard to risk mitigation capabilities. The structured QFD process provides the supply chain managers a conceptual map that enables the improvement of planning and control of various risks that could impact a supply chain.

The importance of supply chain management (SCM) has been increasing recently and the concept of supply chain risk management (SCRM) has been gradually expanded. Since the concept of risk and uncertainty permeates all organizational functions, risk management would seem to be a crucial step towards safeguarding a company's competitive advantage. In the case of modern supply chains, which are composed of complex relationships necessitated by competitive pressures such as outsourcing and globalization, understanding and implementing risk management processes and initiatives at various levels of the chain is essential (Peck, 2006). Is managing risk in Virtual Enterprise Networks different from managing risk in supply chains? It is not unusual for firms in a supply chain to come together and act as a Virtual Enterprise Network (VEN) and the supply chains of today’s globalized and outsourced business environment exhibit many VEN-like features. Looking at VEN risk management from the perspective of supply chain risk management, current ideas on VENs will serve as a base onto which ideas on supply chain risk will be transposed. Many concepts related to supply chain risk will be explored and related to their possible VEN counterparts: risk, vulnerability, robustness, flexibility, resilience and business continuity. Conceptual in its approach and drawing from other areas of research, this chapter introduces four distinct groups of VENS, namely Constrained, Directed, Limited and Free VEN, and concludes that VEN risk management can and should learn from supply chain risk management.

Abstract Since seaports are common and crucial links in the supply chains of several organizations, the objective of this work was to identify what risks a port can offer to the organizations in its chain and how they are treated by the port’s managers. An exploratory survey was carried out using semi-structured interviews with employees of the company that operates the container and coal terminal of the second largest Brazilian port. The results revealed there is no structured risk management process by the port administration, but several actions taken revealed concern for reaction to risk situations. This highlights the benefits of clarifying the issues, contributing to the literature and assisting professionals in structuring a supply chain risk management process.

The competition between supply chains is increasingly fierce on the current, supply chain risk management is got more attention by people. This paper elaborates definitions and meaning of the supply chain risk and supply chain risk management at first, followed by the classification of supply chain risk factors whose features are analyzed and compared thereafter. In the last, the paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions on supply chain risk management, which provides a useful reference for the future studies.
