Voting system is a tool for managing the complete process of the election with the use of technology. It will record the information of the candidates, voters and administrator. Commission on Election is an organization where in-charge in conducting the election process. Also, they are accountable for evaluating the qualifications of the candidates and assigned officers who serve as the electoral board who will proclaim the winner/s. The researcher applied the System Development Life Cycle in designing and developing the automated voting system using the development platform such as MySQL which serves as the database wherein it stores the data of election; Visual Basic 6.0 serves as the programming editor and Local Area Network (LAN), a network connection. The system was tested and implemented during the Student Supreme Council and Student Body Organization election in the year 2012 and 2013 applying the two level of security which is in the form of access code generated by the system and exported data from the registrar office as the basis and filters the qualified voters. During the testing and implementation, most voters from the agriculture found out that the system is less convenient compared to BSIT students who believed that the system is the most suitable method of voting. Regarding security, BS Agriculture students also think that the system is less secured, whereas the BS Fisheries voters emphasized that the system provides the high level of protection. In this manner, voting system addresses the problems encountered every election and designed a friendly-user interface for all kinds of users.

This study aims to design a LAN network for data backup systems that are in accordance with certain aspects such as the selection of network design, network hardware, network transmission media, network connection devices, and network operating systems. Data is the most important thing for everyone, data can usually be reused even though it has not been used for some time, and therefore data storage is a serious problem that must be considered. Data on the server computer is very important to be maintained so that a backup process is needed on that data to another computer that is used as a backup in the event of damage to the hardware and software of the server computer. FTP is one of the solutions to the problems faced above, where FTP can be used to process the download and upload between the server and client computers. This design uses the Autobot system. The expected benefit in designing this LAN is that the existing network at SMP Negeri 6 Pekanbaru is not only used by employees and employees but can be used and enjoyed by teachers and students to access the internet anywhere as long as it is still within the scope of the SMP Negeri 6 area Pekanbaru.

Modernization causes the examination process in some educational institutions that are usually done conventionally now start to change to CBT (Computer Based Test). At STMIK Atma Luhur, CBT in the form of a coding test carried out on a computer laboratory was felt to be not effective enough due to a short correction time, as well as the possibility of lossing the students work due to sudden power failure. Collection of jobs using an LAN (Local Area Network) intranet network can not be realized due to the difficult network configuration and requires not a small cost. One solution that can be offered in overcoming the above problem is to create a web-based exam application that is connected to a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) intranet network. The system development model and tools used in this study are prototype models and UML (Unified Modeling Language). The proposed application is effective in facilitating and accelerating the process of collecting student answer files from several client computers to a server computer. In addition, the usage of the proposed application allows the lecturer not to correct students' answers in a hurry, so that the scores that are truly objective and can be accounted for are obtained.

Client-server architecture is a local area network (LAN) based computing environment in which a central database sever or engine performs all database commands sent to it from client workstations, and application programs on each client concentrate on user interface functions. Client-server computing is a phrase used to describe a model for computer networking. In this shared processing model, a server has an intelligent database engine functioning as a service on the network. This model offers an efficient way to provide data/ information and services to many users as needed. A network connection is only made when a user needs to access the information or obtain the needed service. This lack of a continuous network connection provides network efficiency. Any change made in the server is transparent to clients.

The paper presents a Software Defined Radio (SDR) development platform with wideband tunable RF (Radio Frequency) front end. The platform is based on the SB3500 Multicore Multithreaded Vector Processor and it is intended to be used for a wide variety of communication protocols as: Time Division Duplexing/Frequency Division Duplexing Long Term Evolution (TDD/FDD LTE), Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile/General Packet Radio Service (GSM/GPRS), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Legacy Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX). As an example, we describe briefly the implementation of the LTE TDD/FDD communication protocol. As far as we know, this is the only LTE category 1 communication protocol entirely developed and executed in software (SW), without any hardware (HW) accelerators.

This paper describes a monitoring and diagnostic system implemented on four Westinghouse 501 B4 peaking combustion turbines at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA’s) Gallatin Combustion Turbine Site, near Nashville, Tennessee. As a follow-up to a maintenance upgrade on the turbine trains, a means was sought to maximize service reliability and minimize labor and maintenance. The system consists of a vibration data acquisition system, ports to access control system data, a local area network, and software to diagnose vibration and performance problems. The analysis software modules expand the state-of-the-art by automated extraction of high level information from sampled raw data and they provide recommendations in graphical, tabular, and interactive formats. The software algorithms are designed to reduce required user expertise and input, and to enhance guidance to operators for appropriate action.

This report focusses on the planning and realization of an interdisciplinary local area network (LAN) for medical research at the University of Heidelberg. After a detailed requirements analysis, several networks were evaluated by means of a test installation, and a cost-performance analysis was carried out. At present, the LAN connects 45 (IBM-compatible) PCs, several heterogeneous mainframes (IBM, DEC and Siemens) and provides access to the public X.25 network and to wide-area networks for research (EARN, BITNET). The network supports application software that is frequently needed in medical research (word processing, statistics, graphics, literature databases and services, etc.). Compliance with existing “official” (e.g., IEEE 802.3) and “de facto” standards (e.g., PostScript) was considered to be extremely important for the selection of both hardware and software. Customized programs were developed to improve access control, user interface and on-line help. Wide acceptance of the LAN was achieved through extensive education and maintenance facilities, e.g., teaching courses, customized manuals and a hotline service. Since requirements of clinical routine differ substantially from medical research needs, two separate networks (with a gateway in between) are proposed as a solution to optimally satisfy the users’ demands.

Now a days in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) used in different fields because its well-suited simulator and higher flexibility. The concept of WLAN  with  advanced 5th Generation technologies, related to a Internet-of-Thing (IOT). In this project, representing the Network Simulator (NS-2) used linked-level simulators for Wireless Local Area Networks and still utilized IEEE 802.11g/n/ac with advanced IEEE 802.11ah/af technology. Realization of the whole Wireless Local Area Networking linked-level simulators inspired by the recognized Vienna Long Term Evolution- simulators. As a outcome, this is achieved to link together that simulator to detailed performances of Wireless Local Area Networking with Long Term Evolution, operated in the similar RF bands. From the advanced 5th Generation support cellular networking, such explore is main because different coexistences scenario can arise linking wireless communicating system to the ISM and UHF bands.
