The growing deployment of Software Defined Network (SDN) paradigm in the academic and commercial sectors resulted in many different Network Operating Systems (NOS). As a result, adopting the right NOS requires an analytical study of the available alternatives according to the target use case. This study aims to determine the best NOS according to the requirements of Cloud Data Center (CDC). This paper evaluates the specifications of the most common open-source NOSs. The studied features have been classified into two groups, i.e., non-functional features such as availability, scalability, ease of use, maturity, security and interoperability, and functional features, such as virtualization, fault verification and troubleshooting, packet forwarding techniques and traffic protection solutions. A Decision support system, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been applied for assessing specifications of the inspected NOSs, namely, ONOS, Opendaylight (ODL), Floodlight, Ryu, POX and Tungsten. Our investigation revealed that ODL is the most suitable NOS for CDC compared to the rest studied NOSs. However, ODL and ONOS have almost similar scores compared to the rest NOSs.

Cloud computing is a technology that has powerful computing resources that can be applied to many organizations by using dynamic scalability as a virtual service source via the internet. SMK Ma'arif NU 1 Kembaran has a 2013 TKJ curriculum. The curriculum has topics such as Computer Assembly, Network Operating Systems and Server Administration. In the subject of Network Operating Systems, there is no subject that discusses cloud computing technology. This technology will have an impact on the average score of students before training to make VPN with cloud computing, namely 83, 12 and after training to 89.06 so that there is a descriptive increase. The hypothesis used is a two-way hypothesis so that it uses two tails with the result t table that is 2.039513 with a p value of 0.01249. Because the p value is smaller than alpha 5% or by looking at the value | t count | > t table then Ho is rejected. This means that there is a significant difference in the level of understanding of students before and after training to make VPN with cloud computing.Cloud computing is a technology that has powerful computing resources that can be applied to many organizations by using dynamic scalability as a virtual service source via the internet. Abstract Despite the growing popularity of network operating system courses in vocational high schools, issues have been raised regarding the lack of appropriate computer hardware specifications and the limited use of real networking devices. The media that have been used in teaching network operating systems have been based on virtualization-based simulation. However, such virtualization does not expose students to real hardware. This results in less than optimal hands-on activities and students’ psychomotor abilities. Consequently, alternative authentic media are needed to accommodate practical learning and improve psychomotor skills. The aim of this study is to explore the implementation of a single-board microcomputer in learning network operating systems. The Raspberry Pi was chosen as it can replace the role of a non-simulation PC. The choice of Raspberry Pi was also based on the fact that in Indonesia it is still rare to find its implementation for teaching and learning activities in vocational high school, so it is necessary to introduce the device to students. The operating system used by the Raspberry Pi is similar to Ubuntu, which is one of the network operating systems that must be mastered by vocational IT students. The research made a comparison between the two learning media as employed by two groups of students in different classes, one using virtualization-based simulation and the other using the Raspberry Pi. Based on the results, it is concluded that the use of the Raspberry Pi is more effective than that of virtualization-based simulation in improving students’ psychomotor and troubleshooting skills.

This study aims to design a LAN network for data backup systems that are in accordance with certain aspects such as the selection of network design, network hardware, network transmission media, network connection devices, and network operating systems. Data is the most important thing for everyone, data can usually be reused even though it has not been used for some time, and therefore data storage is a serious problem that must be considered. Data on the server computer is very important to be maintained so that a backup process is needed on that data to another computer that is used as a backup in the event of damage to the hardware and software of the server computer. FTP is one of the solutions to the problems faced above, where FTP can be used to process the download and upload between the server and client computers. This design uses the Autobot system. The expected benefit in designing this LAN is that the existing network at SMP Negeri 6 Pekanbaru is not only used by employees and employees but can be used and enjoyed by teachers and students to access the internet anywhere as long as it is still within the scope of the SMP Negeri 6 area Pekanbaru.
