Background Paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors, especially in the bladder. Although many paragangliomas are non-functional, functioning paragangliomas present with many non-specific signs and symptoms, such as hypertension and headache, complicating their diagnosis. Here, we report a case of micturition-induced severe headache associated with a bladder paraganglioma. Case description: This report describes a severe headache disorder triggered by micturition and associated with a bladder paraganglioma in a middle-aged woman. Her pain occurred consistently after micturition, beginning from the left side of the nose and gradually extended to the forehead and the parietal and occipital regions. The headaches lasted 5–10 min. Removal of the paraganglioma completely eliminated the patient’s pain syndrome. Conclusion This case elucidates the association between micturition-triggered headaches and bladder paragangliomas. The presence of a post-micturition severe headache should suggest the possibility of a bladder paraganglioma.

: Pemphigus is a chronic autoimmune vesiculobullous disease caused by autoantibodies directed against desmogleins (Dsgs). Pemphigus vegetans is a rare variant of pemphigus vulgaris, characterized by vegetative plaques, primarily occurring in flexures. It is a less common disease and involves the skin and mucosa due to disintegration of cellular adherence (acantholysis), resulting in intradermal split. We report this case of pemphigus vegetans of Neumann type for its rare presentation. We report a case of pemphigus vegetans, involving lips in a middle-aged female and sparing flexural areas. This patient was diagnosed on the basis of histopathology and treated successfully with intralesional steroids, resulting in the resolution of her plaques.

To investigate depression following bereavement, 255 adult middle-aged women (117 widows, 58 mothers, and 80 adult daughters) completed the Beck Depression Inventory-Short Form (BDI). The intensity of the level of depression was analyzed across the three types of bereavement. Bereaved mothers had significantly higher levels of depression than both widows and bereaved adult daughters. Over 60 percent of the mothers had depression scores in the moderate to severe depression range. Widows had significantly higher levels of depression than adult daughters.
