<pre>Enabling global Internet access is challenging for cellular-based Internet of Things (IoT) due to the limited range of terrestrial network services. One viable solution is to deploy IoT over satellite systems for coverage extension. However, operating a hybrid satellite-terrestrial network (STN) might incur high satellite bandwidth consumption and excessive service latency. Aiming to reduce the content delivery latency from the Internet-connected gateway to the users, this work proposes a wireless two-tier cache-enabled model with full-duplex transmissions where content caches are deployed at the satellite and ground station. A closed-form solution for the successful delivery probability (SDP) of the files is derived considering the requested content distributions and channel statistics. Then, the SDP performance under common caching policies can be conveniently evaluated. The results are also used to optimize cache placement under caching capacity constraints. Numerical results demonstrate the performance improvements of the proposed system over those of single-tier cache-aided and half-duplex transmission systems. </pre>

Abstract Vehicle interior noise is the result of numerous sources of excitation. One source involving tire pavement interaction is the tire air cavity resonance and the forcing it provides to the vehicle spindle: This paper applies fundamental principles combined with experimental verification to describe the tire cavity resonance. A closed form solution is developed to predict the resonance frequencies from geometric data. Tire test results are used to examine the accuracy of predictions of undeflected and deflected tire resonances. Errors in predicted and actual frequencies are shown to be less than 2%. The nature of the forcing this resonance as it applies to the vehicle spindle is also examined.

A capacity analysis for generally correlated wireless multi-hop multi-input multi-output (MIMO) channels is presented in this paper. The channel at each hop is spatially correlated, the source symbols are mutually correlated, and the additive Gaussian noises are colored. First, by invoking Karush-Kuhn-Tucker condition for the optimality of convex programming, we derive the optimal source symbol covariance for the maximum mutual information between the channel input and the channel output when having the full knowledge of channel at the transmitter. Secondly, we formulate the average mutual information maximization problem when having only the channel statistics at the transmitter. Since this problem is almost impossible to be solved analytically, the numerical interior-point-method is employed to obtain the optimal solution. Furthermore, to reduce the computational complexity, an asymptotic closed-form solution is derived by maximizing an upper bound of the objective function. Simulation results show that the average mutual information obtained by the asymptotic design is very closed to that obtained by the optimal design, while saving a huge computational complexity.

The technical aspects of the main promising projects in the segments of medium and low-orbit satellite communication systems are considered, as well as the project of the domestic low-orbit information and telecommunications system using the terahertz range, which is based on the use of satellite platforms of the micro- and nanosatellite class and the distribution of functional blocks of complex satellite payloads more high-end on multiple functionally related satellites. The proposed system of low-orbit satellite communications represents the groupings of low-orbit spacecraft (LEO-system) with the architecture of a "distributed satellite", which include the groupings of the root (leading) satellites and satellite repeaters (slaves). Root satellites are interconnected in a ring network by high-speed links between the satellites. The geometric size of the “distributed satellite” is the area around the root satellite with a radius of about 1 km. The combination of beams, which are formed by the repeater satellites, make up the service area of the LEO system. The requirements for the integrated service area of the LEO system (geographical service area) determine the requirements for the number of distributed satellites in the system as a whole. In the proposed system to reduce mutual interference between the grouping of the root (leading) satellites and repeater satellites (slaves) and, accordingly, minimizing distortions of the information signal when implementing inter-satellite communication, this line (radio channel) was created in an unlicensed frequency (e.g., in the terahertz 140 GHz) range. In addition, it additionally allows you to minimize the size of the antennas of such a broadband channel and simplify the operation of these satellite systems.
