The Covid -19 outbreak caused great uncertainty in whole companies' sectors and levels. In general, companies have been forced to make changes and adjustments to adapt to new needs. This research aims to provide managers and business directors some tools to reduce risks in decision-making and minimize economic and health losses in employees. By implementing emergency plans, risk management, creating trust, and effective communication between the different organization levels and areas. The research is inserted in the critical theory paradigm, an epistemological approach, a qualitative methodological perspective, and an evaluation and action research method. The theoretical foundation is based on the thinking of Armand V. Feigenbaum as a precursor of Total Quality Management (TQM) and project management to mitigate risks and emergencies. Finally, a set of reflections, evaluations, and proposals are showed as a conclusion to facilitate decision-making and companies' adaptability in crisis environments.

Purpose – Reflecting the Mauritian government's “quality” agenda and its focus on school leadership, this paper reports the findings of research exploring Mauritian principals’ views about the use of total quality management (TQM) for school improvement. While aspects of this research have been reported elsewhere, the purpose of this paper is to focus on school leaders’ use of data and evidence in making decisions for school improvement. Design/methodology/approach – The paper reports on qualitative aspects within a mixed methods research with data collected by means of semi-structured interviews conducted with a purposive sample of six principals. The analysis of the data were an exercise in grounded theory building. Findings – The paper expands the knowledge of principals as quantitative data users arguing that qualitative information based on professional discourses, human judgements and lived experiences should be equally valorised if TQM is used for making informed educational decisions. Research limitations/implications – The research relied on principals’ views as the unique source of data. The perspectives of the other stakeholders would offer a richer description of leadership reality in Mauritian schools. Practical implications – The paper suggests a more participatory decision-making model for effective change that could rightfully engage all stakeholders through various complementary quantitative and qualitative processes. It further recommends that alongside the core systemic qualities of TQM, there are ethical, moral and cultural dimensions of leadership that could enhance the teaching and learning environment. Originality/value – While confirming some extant research, the paper brings new thinking to understanding the critical role of principals within the TQM scenario of data-driven decision making.

Increased level of competitivity, continued growth of customers and society demands, and the increasing complexity of products have increased the importance of quality. If the competition could be defined only in few keywords, one of them would surely include the following: quality, innovation and demanding customers. Considering customers who demand quality and competition that responds to such requests, the organization tend to focus increasingly on total quality management - TQM. Although the evolution of the "quality" concept lasts a century, it remains a challenge for all organizations. According to these statements, this paper aims to highlight some aspects of the state of implementation and application of TPM, as a defining component of TQM. The questionnaire method was applied as statistical research method used to a sample of 31 companies in the automotive industry in Romania. The objective behind the survey was to obtain as much information as possible about TPM. The data obtained were statistically processed to more accurately portray the current image of the degree of concern for TPM and how the TPM is approached by companies who responded to the questionnaire.

Abstract This paper is the result of the author`s many years of multidisciplinary research in the areas of quality management and operational risk management. The main focus of the research is aimed at strengthening the model of the “three lines of defence” in terms of more efficient management of operational risks - those that arise as a result of inadequate and unsuccessful processes and systems, human factors, as well as those that can appear as a result of external events. The strengthening of the three lines of defence model is brought about through the synergy of quality management principles, the principles of risk management, and the total quality management approach. In essence, the term strengthening may be interpreted as a process of continual improvement. Business operations based on the principles of quality management and risk management allow central banks to be able to continuously improve their overall business performance. The principles of quality management contain properly aligned and matched best solutions from current management theory and practice. Designed to work together - and this essentially means in a consistent, synchronized and synergistic manner, the principles are translated into a series of requirements and guidelines of international standards suitable for implementation. Through their synergy, the principles of quality management and risk management, as well as approaches to total quality management form a clear, applicable and sustainable paradigm of successful management of central banks. Incorporation of the principles of quality management in central bank systems and processes would significantly strengthen the three lines of defence, in terms of efficient operational risk management, which this paper aims to show in a clear and comprehensive manner. Although any central bank is a specific institution, all the principles of quality management and risk management can be applied to its operations. In addition to the numerous and highly significant benefits and synergistic effects that the application of quality management and risk management principles bring to central banks, what should also be highlighted is their impact on a new way of thinking regarding successful central bank governance, which generates a new attitude towards its responsibilities, objectives, employees, and the environment. A new way of thinking produces new behaviours and an improved business culture and can ensure the sustainable success of central banks and other financial system entities. Bearing in mind that the process of risk management is an integral part of the working of central banks, the most effective results are achieved when the “process owner” is also the “risk owner”. This paper shows that the integration of these two roles contributes to the full effectiveness and efficiency of the processes and risks management. It is clearly demonstrated that this unity of the roles, along with a quality culture, a risk culture, and risk-based thinking is embedded in all management processes - from defining policies, objectives, and plans, all the way to their operational implementation and that this ensures the fulfilment of requirements, needs, and expectations of customers and other relevant stakeholders. In all of this, the management of any central bank plays the most important role, not only because of the importance and complexity of the issues in question, but also because of their full responsibility to manage risks in a proper, effective, conscientious and dedicated manner, as that is the key precondition for achieving sustainable success.

The church has not implemented many quality management (TQM) in its institutions because it is considered that this is only for companies that aim to profit. Whereas profit is not TQM orientation but customer satisfaction. The importance of TQM is due to the rapidly changing world and the presence of competitors from both similar and different institutions. One of the products offered by the church is teaching-based, especially the basic doctrines of the Christian faith. This is rarely done by the church, it can be seen from the absence of writings that discuss the doctrine of doctrine as part of church quality management and as an adaptation of the church in dealing with competitors. The approach used in this paper is a qualitative grounded research method; the reason is, that there has not been found a paper that presents the teaching of the basic doctrines of the Christian faith as part of the implementation of TQM in the Church. The results found that teaching the basic doctrines of the Christian faith has made the Church in general able to survive for thousands of years in the midst of various teaching attacks from both internal and external to the Church. The conclusion is that the teaching of the doctrine of the Christian faith is the main product of the Church in satisfying the congregation to ensure that the congregation remains part of the holy community, namely the Church, as well as being an important part of showing the quality of the Church.
