The objective of fuzzy assignment problem is to find the least assignment fuzzy cost (maximum fuzzy profit) of workers with varying degree of skills to job. To attain the objective in this article, an approach involving modified best candidate method has been used to solve Hexagonal fuzzy assignment problem. To order the hexagonal fuzzy numbers Robust’s Ranking technique is applied. We examine a numerical example by using new method and compute by existing two methods. Also we compare the optimal solutions among this new method and two existing method .The proposed method is a systematic procedure, easy to apply for solving fuzzy assignment problem.

In solving real life assignment problem we often face the state of uncertainty as well as hesitation due to various uncontrollable factors. To deal with uncertainty and hesitation many authors have suggested the intuitionistic fuzzy representations for the data. So, in this paper, the authors consider the assignment problem having uncertainty and hesitation in cost/time/profit. They formulate the problem and utilize triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (TIFNs) to deal with uncertainty and hesitation. The authors propose a new method called PSK (P.Senthil Kumar) method for finding the intuitionistic fuzzy optimal cost/time/profit for fully intuitionistic fuzzy assignment problem (FIFAP). The proposed method gives the optimal object value in terms of TIFN. The main advantage of this method is computationally very simple, easy to understand. Finally the effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by means of a numerical example which is followed by graphical representation of the finding.

The present paper attempts to study the unbalanced fuzzy transportation problem so as to minimize the transportationcost of products when supply, demand and cost of the products are represented by fuzzy numbers. In this paper, authorsuse Roubast ranking technique to transform trapezoidal fuzzy numbers to crisp numbers and propose a new algorithm tofind the fuzzy optimal solution of unbalanced fuzzy transportation problem. The proposed algorithm is more efficient thanother existing algorithms like simple VAM and is illustrated via numerical example. Also, a comparison between the resultsof the new algorithm and the result of algorithm using simple VAM is provided.

In this paper, we introduce a new method to solve Interval-Valued Transportation Problem (IVTP) to deal with those problems of transportation wherein the information available is imprecise. First, a newly proposed fuzzification method is used to convert the IVTP to octagonal fuzzy transportation problem and then with the help of ranking function proposed in this paper, the fuzzy transportation problem is converted into crisp transportation problem. Lastly, Initial Basic Feasible Solution (IBFS) of this problem is obtained using Vogel’s Approximation Method and the solution is improved using Modified Distribution (MODI) method. A numerical example with interval data is solved using the proposed algorithm to make comparison of the solution with some other methods. Also, a numerical example with parameters in the form of octagonal fuzzy numbers is illustrated to compare the effectiveness of the proposed ranking technique. The proposed fuzzification and ranking technique can be used in the other fields of decision making dealing with the data in the same form as considered in this paper.

In this paper Branch and bound technique is applied to assignment problem with fuzzy cost with objective to minimise cost, fuzzy cost is assumed as triangular fuzzy number, Yager’s ranking method has been used for ranking the fuzzy numbers, after transforming assignment problem into a crisp one using linguistic variables, assignment problem is solved by branch and bound technique. To deal with fuzzy assignment problem with qualitative data, linguistic variable helps to convert qualitative data into quantitative data.

This paper proposes a new method for ranking fuzzy numbers by difference between relative areas. Comparative examples illustrate the advantage of the proposed method. The ranking method is further applied to help establish a defuzzified multiple level FMADM model, which avoids the complicatied aggregation of fuzzy numbers so that the multiple level FMADM problem can be efficiently solved. A numerical example of car evaluation and selection illustrates the feasibility of the proposed model.

Ranking fuzzy numbers has become an important process in decision making. Many ranking methods have been proposed thus far and one of the commonly used is centroid of trapezoid. However, there is still no agreement on the method that can always provide a satisfactory solution to every situation. This paper aims to propose a new method of centroid using the circumcenter. The calculation for the circumcenter is derived from the trapezoidal fuzzy numbers and a series of the proposed steps. The proposed method offers a straightforward calculation by considering the centroid in each part of trapezoid to obtain a new centroid which eventually becomes the circumcenter. The Euclidean distance is used to calculate the ranking function from the circumcenter of centroids and the original point. A numerical example is given to illustrate the proposed method. At the end of this paper, a comparison of centroid method between the proposed method and other methods is presented.

This paper proposes a new method to rank the parametric form of fuzzy numbers based on defuzzification. The defuzzification process use centroids, value, ambiguity and decision levels on fuzzy number developed from the parametric form of a generalized fuzzy number. The proposed method avoids reducing function to remove lower alpha levels and can overcome the shortcomings in some of the existing fuzzy ranking methods. The proposed method can effectively rank symmetric fuzzy numbers with the same core and different heights, fuzzy numbers with the same support and different cores, crisp numbers, crisp numbers having the same support and different heights, and fuzzy numbers having compensation of areas. A demonstration of the proposed method through examples and a comparative study with other methods in the literature shows that the proposed method gives effective results.

A well-organized arithmetical procedure entitled standard deviation is employed to find the optimum solution in this paper. This technique has been divided into two parts. The first methodology deals with constructing the entire contingency cost table, and the second deals with optimum allocation. In this work, the method of magnitude is used for converting fuzzy numbers into crisp numbers as this method is better than the existing methods. This technique gives a better optimal solution than other methods. A numerical example for the new method is explained, and the authors compared their method with existing methods such as north west corner method, least cost method, and Vogel's approximation method.
