A Review of Talent Adaptive Concept and Conceptual Framework of Accelerated Industry4WRD Talent Adaptation in Malaysia

Effective to current practice in the growth of talent by versatility, the companies require expertise to work in different divisions; subsidiaries; or departments; after three to five years’ operating in a specific position, upon request for relocation or promotional activities. Nevertheless, the transfer to work requires specific talent to learn new activities and procedures through adaptation through reading over administrative tasks, as well as to gain technical expertise such as Industry 4.0, which is typically learned by being on the job and takes longer before the talent becomes fully competent to conduct its tasks linked to Industry 4.0 areas. Use eight-dimensional adaptive efficiency as the foundation, this study intends to analysis and to clarify the critical factors in Industry 4.0 job adaptation as well as to create an effective structure that accelerates the cycle of talent adaptation. This framework is expected to contribute to Malaysia Industry4WRD strategy on ‘People’ shift factor and supplement its two aspects of Personal Competence Growth and Top Management Technology Savviness. The study would examine a case study on Malaysian industries and use a semi-structured interview with selected respondents to establish the accelerated proposed adaptation mechanism for Malaysian industry talent.

This paper aims to provide the reader with an organic view of the eyewear sector considering both market and quality aspects and evaluating the role of Industry 4.0 in process and product innovation for managing consumer health, analyzing a case study of a leading multinational company in the eyewear and ophthalmic lenses sector. The research has been developed with a qualitative approach. The study is a conceptual development and it uses an exploratory interview to create a single case study. The case study was developed with the realization by the researcher of a semi-structured interview. The selected interlocutor was the Innovation Manager of Alpha Optics. It has been decided to focus the attention on this figure, as it was responsible for the realization and introduction into the company of Industry 4.0 enabling technologies for developing health innovations. From this case study it was possible to observe how the connection with the trends that influence the demand for eyeglasses is a driving factor for product innovation. Products increasingly adapted to the needs of young people and the use of digital devices seem to be the ones on which the greatest number of innovations are concentrated.

This paper presents the research results in the field of implementation of fourth industrial revolution technologies into the service sector, with a specific focus on the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies into corporate processes of industrial laundries. The theme covered was found topical following the analysis of practical needs and based on the specific nature of industrial laundry processes and only marginal interest paid in professional theory and discussions to the possibility and efficiency of the Industry 4.0 technologies implementation into non-production companies. Based on the analysis and evaluation of secondary data, advanced Industry 4.0 technologies have been identified which might lead to the increase of industrial laundries efficiency. Further, the methods of monitoring, structured interview and case study have been combined to design the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies into the system of existing information and communication technologies and systems. Based on a quality comparison, the case study and structured interview results have proven the benefits of implementation of automated identification and data collection technologies including the implementation of vertical integration of corporate information system and horizontal integration leading to the interconnection with customers in industrial laundries corporate processes.

This paper aims to identify the competency components of Islamic legacy planners in the event of post COVID-19 pandemic crisis in Malaysia. A qualitative approach using a multiple-case study through semi-structured interview was used. Data was gathered from a representative of full-fledged Islamic trust companies in Malaysia on what constitute as required competency components for Islamic legacy planners. In total, 4 interviews have been performed involving the decision-makers as well as c-level executives of the participating companies. It is found that there are non-standardised guidelines on recruitment of Islamic legacy planners. The majority of the respondents within the group have also chosen fiqh mawarith as the main knowledge to be acquired besides knowledge in product and solution, law and regulations. The results of this study have practical contributions to the regulatory bodies, academicians and professionals. The competency framework is recommended to the industry players in pooling competent talents in the Islamic legacy planning industry. In spite of its limitation to confine only to the full-fledged Islamic trust companies, it sheds light on competency issues within the Islamic organisations. The study would contribute to the practitioners as a guideline in recruiting their Islamic legacy planners and also for succession planning purposes. A competency model for Islamic legacy planners was proposed focusing on several components that can be used as guidance in determining the criteria needed for a competent Islamic legacy planner, which is a new dimension for Islamic legacy planning literature. The sub-objective of determining the elements of competency, as well as understanding the current practice of recruiting the Islamic legacy planners became the input in the moulding of the competency framework.

This article addresses the evolution of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) in the automotive industry, exploring its contribution to a shift in the maintenance paradigm. To this end, we firstly present the concepts of predictive maintenance (PdM), condition-based maintenance (CBM), and their applications to increase awareness of why and how these concepts are revolutionizing the automotive industry. Then, we introduce the business process management (BPM) and business process model and notation (BPMN) methodologies, as well as their relationship with maintenance. Finally, we present the case study of the Renault Cacia, which is developing and implementing the concepts mentioned above.

Arm recovery varies greatly among stroke survivors. Wearable surface electromyography (sEMG) sensors have been used to track recovery in research; however, sEMG is rarely used within acute and subacute clinical settings. The purpose of this case study was to describe the use of wireless sEMG sensors to examine changes in muscle activity during acute and subacute phases of stroke recovery, and understand the participant’s perceptions of sEMG monitoring. Beginning three days post-stroke, one stroke survivor wore five wireless sEMG sensors on his involved arm for three to four hours, every one to three days. Muscle activity was tracked during routine care in the acute setting through discharge from inpatient rehabilitation. Three- and eight-month follow-up sessions were completed in the community. Activity logs were completed each session, and a semi-structured interview occurred at the final session. The longitudinal monitoring of muscle and movement recovery in the clinic and community was feasible using sEMG sensors. The participant and medical team felt monitoring was unobtrusive, interesting, and motivating for recovery, but desired greater in-session feedback to inform rehabilitation. While barriers in equipment and signal quality still exist, capitalizing on wearable sensing technology in the clinic holds promise for enabling personalized stroke recovery.

Nowadays, engineering students have to improve specific competencies to tackle the challenges of 21st-century-industry, referred to as Industry 4.0. Hence, this article describes the integration and implementation of Education 4.0 strategies with the new educational model of our university to respond to the needs of Industry 4.0 and society. The TEC21 Educational Model implemented at Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico aims to develop disciplinary and transversal competencies for creative and strategic problem-solving of present and future challenges. Education 4.0, as opposed to traditional education, seeks to provide solutions to these challenges through innovative pedagogies supported by emerging technologies. This article presents a case study of a Capstone project developed with undergraduate engineering students. The proposed structure integrates the TEC21 model and Education 4.0 through new strategies and laboratories, all linked to industry. The results of a multidisciplinary project focused on an electric vehicle racing team are presented, composed of Education 4.0 elements and competencies development in leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The project was a collaboration between academia and the productive sector. The results verified the students’ success in acquiring the necessary competencies and skills to become technological leaders in today’s modern industry. One of the main contributions shown is a suitable education framework for bringing together the characteristics established by Education 4.0 and achieved by our educational experience based on Education 4.0.
