Gridhrasi (Sciatica) is a disorder in which low back pain is found, that spreads through the hip, to the back of the thigh and down the inside of the leg. Mechanical low back pain (LBP) remains the second most common symptom related reason for seeing a physician. 85% of total population will experience an episode of mechanical LBP at some point during their lifetime. Fortunately, the LBP resolves for the vast majority within 2-4 weeks. There are many causes for low back pain, however true sciatica is a symptom of inflammation or compression of the sciatica nerve. The sciatica nerve carries impulses between nerve roots in the lower back and the muscles and nerve of the buttocks, thighs and lower legs. Compression of a nerve root often occurs as a result of damage to one of the discs between the vertebrae. In some cases, sciatic pain radiate from other nerves in the body. This is called referred pain. Pain associated with sciatica often is severe, sharp and shooting. It may be accompanied by other symptom, such as numbness, tingling, weakness and sensitivity to touch. There is only conservative treatment giving short term relief in pain or surgical intervention with side effect. But these are not successful and therefore those who are suffering from this are always in search of result oriented remedy. Walking distance and SLR test were taken for assessment parameter, VAS score was adopted for pain. Before treatment patient was not able to walk even 4 to 5 steps due to severe pain, was brought on stretcher and his SLR was 30° of right side. After 22 days of treatment he was able to walk up to 500 meters without any difficulty, SLR was changed to 60° and patient had got 80 % relief in pain. This case report showed that Ayurvedic protocol is potent and safe in the treatment of Gridhrasi.

There is a diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma in cases of chronic contained rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm, as the symptoms can be more subtle including dull back pain, and thus lacking the typical features of rupture. The objective of this research was to introduce a case report emphasizing the need to relate the low back pain with atypical radiological appearances of entities, as aortic abdominal aneurysms, capable to compromise the patients’ clinical diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.

Ayurvedic Yoga therapy is the application of the eight limbs of Yoga to the healing process. The Ayurvedic paradigm is based on three fundamental concepts: (1) The nature of the patient must be known. (2) The nature of the imbalance or disease must be known. (3) The nature of the remedy must be known. Ayurvedic Yoga therapy is unique in the field of Yoga therapy in that it uses the traditional language and knowledge of Vedic healing to describe and determine the process of healing. This article describes how the eight limbs of Yoga may be applied to healing according to the Ayurvedic paradigm. A case study of low back pain to demonstrate how these general principles may be applied to an individual.

The literature defines DRA as a gap of more than two fingerbreadths between two rectal abdominal muscle bellies, either above or below the umbilicus. Separation is referred to as DRA. Female diastasis recti is more common in postpartum women. Lower back pain is the most common cause of daily activity limitation in postpartum females. Post-partum women express concerns about their mobility, pain, and normal activities, all of which have an impact on an individual's quality of life. The study aimed to check the Impact of diastasis recti and low back pain on quality of life in post-partum females. This research will be conducted at the Physiotherapy OPD at Ravi Nair Physiotherapy College and the AVBRH in Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha. Post-partum females will be evaluated for diastasis recti. The effect of diastasis recti and low back pain on postpartum females' quality of life. The current study significantly showed that the correlation between diastasis recti and quality of life with satisfaction is -0.473r, and the correlation between diastasis recti and importance is -0.452r, and the correlation between low back pain and quality of life is 0.025r.So the present study shows that an increase in inter rectal distance and low back pain will affect the quality of life in postpartum females. From the present study, we can conclude that an increase in rectal distance and lower back pain have an impact on the quality of life of postpartum females.

Abstract Context Lower back pain (LBP) is prevalent and is a leading contributor to disease burden worldwide. Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) can alleviate alterations in the body that leads to musculoskeletal disorders such as LBP. Bio-electromagnetic Energy Regulation (BEMER; BEMER International AG), which has also been shown to relieve musculoskeletal pain, is a therapeutic modality that deploys a biorhythmically defined stimulus through a pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF). Therefore, it is possible that combined OMT and BEMER therapy could reduce low back pain in adults more than the effect of either treatment modality alone. Objectives To investigate the individual and combined effects of OMT and BEMER therapy on LBP in adults. Methods Employees and students at a medical college were recruited to this study by email. Participants were included if they self-reported chronic LBP of 3 months’ duration or longer; participants were excluded if they were experiencing acute LBP of 2 weeks’ duration or less, were currently being treated for LBP, were pregnant, or had a known medical history of several conditions. Ultimately, 40 participants were randomly assigned to four treatment groups: an OMT only, BEMER only, OMT+BEMER, or control (light touch and sham). Treatments were given regularly over a 3 week period. Data on LBP and quality of life were gathered through the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Short Form 12 item (SF-12) health survey, and Oswestry Low Back Pain Questionnaire/Oswestry Disability Index prior to treatment and immediately after the 3 week intervention protocol. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed retrospectively and absolute changes for each participant were calculated. Normal distribution and equal variances were confirmed by Shapiro–Wilk test (p>0.05) and Brown-Forsythe, respectively. Significance was set at p<0.05. Results Despite a lack of statistical significance between groups, subjective reports of pain reported on the VAS showed a substantial mean percentage decrease (50.8%) from baseline in the OMT+BEMER group, compared with a 10.2% decrease in the OMT-only and 9.8% in BEMER-only groups when comparing the difference in VAS ratings from preintervention to postintervention. Participants also reported in quality of life assessed on the Oswestry Low Back Pain Questionnaire/Oswestry Disability Index, with the OMT+BEMER group showing a decrease of 30.3% in score, the most among all groups. The OMT+BEMER group also reported the greatest improvement in score in the physical component of the SF-12, with an increase of 21.8%. Conclusions The initial data from this study shows a potential additive effect of combination therapy (OMT and BEMER) for management of LBP, though the results did not achieve statistical significance.

Abstract: Low back pain (NPB) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders in everyday life. NPB is pain that is felt in the lower back and is usually local pain or radicular pain or both. This pain can be caused by poor posture when standing or sitting, bending / twisting, lifting weights incorrectly and so on. The cause of NPB often occurs in inpatient nurses. This case report is located in dr. Murjani Sampit, Kotawaringin Timur, Kaliantan Tengah. The purpose of this case report is to determine the risk factors for low back pain in nurses at dr. Murjani Sampit. The method used is a questionnaire to determine individual factors and the Brief Survey method for ergonomic risk assessment. A case study was conducted on 2 inpatient nurses who had a history of Lower Back Pain. Based on the results of the ergonomic risk assessment using the Brief Survey method, the highest work risk was in the back region with a score of 4. Characteristic factors of respondents including gender, BMI, work experience, smoking behavior and exercise habits did not have a significant relationship with the incidence of NPB. Based on the results of statistical tests obtained from several case studies and research shows that only the length of sitting and the length of standing that affect the incidence of low back pain
