BACKGROUND: Cutaneous pseudolymphoma (PSL) is a reactive polyclonal benign lymphoproliferative process in the skin that simulate cutaneous lymphomas clinically, histologically, or both, predominantly composed of either B-cells or T-cells, localized or disseminated. PSL clinically manifests as solitary nodules or plaque on the face. In cases where cutaneous PSL is suspected, the most crucial part is diagnosis, to differentiate benign or malignant lesion. Diagnosis required a combination of clinical, histopathological, and immunohistochemistry examination. CASE REPORT: A 59-year-old man presented with asymptomatic erythematous plaque on her cheek for 6 months before. Histopathological examination revealed dense small lymphocytic infiltration forming lymphoid follicles with centrum germinativum that partially destructed skin appendice glands. Immunohistochemistry examination showed positive result on cluster of differentiation (CD)20 and CD3 staining. With domination of CD20 treatment: Patient was treated with intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide 10 mg/ml and showed satisfying result after 3 times injection. CONCLUSION: A cutaneous B-cell PSL in a 59-year-old man was diagnosed based on history and physical, histopathological, and also immunohistochemistry examination. Intralesional injection of 10 mg/ml triamcinolone acetonide gave satisfying result.

Objective: To report the conduct of the dental team in the face of a patient with a potentially malignant lesion and who had difficulty quitting smoking. Methods: We described the clinical management of the injury and conduct in the face of the smoking habit of a female patient, 57 years old, melanoderma, denied alcoholism and a smoker for 30 years, referred to the Dentistry Service of Hospital Universitário Oswaldo Cruz. Results: An incisional biopsy and histopathological examination of the lesion were performed, which showed hyperplasia, hyperkeratosis and papillomatosis of the squamous epithelium, without signs of malignancy, corroborating the hypothesis of Leukoplakia. It was recommended that she quit smoking, emphasizing the prevention of the malignant transformation of the pathology and promotion of healthy habits. After that, 2 more excisional biopsies were performed to completely remove the lesion. The patient, after diagnosis, reported having stopped the habit and was being followed up with a pulmonologist and dental team. After a year and a half, in a return visit, the patient reported having returned to the habit. The importance of quitting the habit was reinforced and it was referred to psychology, since it showed interest in stopping the use of cigarettes again. Conclusion: In view of the diagnosis of a potentially malignant lesion and difficulty in smoking cessation, the role of the dental team in informing about cigarettes, in the pathogenesis of this lesion, and the importance of avoiding them for the preservation of health, in addition to continuous monitoring with patients.

Treatment of uveitis (i.e., inflammation of the uvea) is challenging due to lack of convenient ophthalmic dosage forms. This work is aimed to determine the efficiency of triamcinolone acetonide (TA)-loaded microemulsion as an ophthalmic delivery system for the treatment of uveitis. Water titration method was used to construct different pseudo-ternary phase diagrams. Twelve microemulsion formulations were prepared using oleic acid, Cremophor EL, and propylene glycol. Among all tested formulations, Formulation F3, composed of oil: surfactant-co-surfactant (1:1): water (15:35:50% w/w, respectively), was found to be stable and showed acceptable pH, viscosity, conductivity, droplet size (211 ± 1.4 nm), and zeta potential (−25 ± 1.7 mV) and almost complete in vitro drug release within 24 h. The in vivo performance of the optimized formulation was evaluated in experimentally uveitis-induced rabbit model and compared with a commercial TA suspension (i.e., Kenacort®-A) either topically or by subconjunctival injection. Ocular inflammation was evaluated by clinical examination, white blood cell count, protein content measurement, and histopathological examination. The developed TA-loaded microemulsion showed superior therapeutic efficiency in the treatment of uveitis with high patient compliance compared to commercial suspension. Hence, it could be considered as a potential ocular treatment option in controlling of uveitis.

Methotrexate-related lymphoproliferative disorder (MTX-LPD) is a rare disorder caused by long-term MTX therapy for autoimmune diseases. There has been no report of the dermoscopic features of MTX-LPD to date. A 64-year-old female presented with a slightly elevated indurated erythematous plaque with scales on her right thigh. The patient had been treated for rheumatic arthritis with MTX and prednisolone for more than 15 years, and 18 mg/week MTX without prednisolone had been administered in the last year. Dermoscopy revealed dotted vessels and glomerular vessels on pink homogeneous areas and multiple surface scales. Enhanced computed tomography showed multiple nodules and lymphadenopathies at the mediastinum and axillae. Histopathological examination revealed telangiectasia in the superficial dermis. Atypical lymphoid cells were scattered in the whole dermis and subcutaneous tissue. A perivascular infiltrate of atypical lymphocytes and histiocytoid cells partially destroyed the vessel walls. Epstein-Barr virus in situ hybridization showed a positive result. The cessation of MTX reduced the erythematous plaque, and lymphadenopathies at the neck, mediastinum, and axillae were not palpable. We discuss the relevance of these dermoscopic and histopathological features. The accumulation of such cases will reveal the dermoscopic features of MTX-LPD and the utility of dermoscopy for the diagnosis of MTX-LPD.

B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma which is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma is rather uncommon in children. Focal changes in bones in the course of non-Hodgkin lymphoma are mostly secondary changes and their primal location in a bone is rare. PBL (primary bone lymphoma) mainly concerns a thighbone and a tibial bone; the primary location in jaw bones is quite sporadic. In diagnostics, there is mainly magnetic resonance, medical scan (tomography), and above all – histopathological test. There is also chemotherapy by choice, and primary location in a jaw or a mandible significantly advances the prognosis. The aim of the work is to introduce a patient who was definitively diagnosed B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma from the early B-cells. The girl reported to Laryngological Clinic, Dental Surgery Clinic for Children, Oncological Clinic of Children’s Memorial Health Institute. The cause of the visit was an elevation on the right side of a nose base, present for two months and misdiagnosed by doctors as a post-traumatic swelling in this region. After introducing laboratory and scan diagnostics and taking biopsy from the lesion, a final conclusion was made. Also, a proper treatment according to the protocol for B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma was introduced. Non-specific B-cell lymphoma picture, as mentioned in the described case, specifically due to location in a jaw bone and a slow pace of growing, may both constitute huge diagnostic problems and deteriorate prognosis. Therefore, it is important to take into account also lymphoma – in such location of a lesion. Moreover, it is worth remembering that the final diagnosis may only be passed on the basis of histopathological examination.

Abstract The aim of the study was to investigate the possibility of Transmissible Viral Proventriculitis (TVP) occurrence in broiler chickens in Poland. In march 2016 proventriculi samples were collected from broiler chickens showing poor uniformity and decreased body weight, accompanied by enlarged proventriculi. Histopathological examination of affected proventriculi revealed typical lesions associated with TVP (vacuolar degeneration and necrosis of glandular epithelium, replacement of glandular epithelium by hyperplastic ductal epithelium and moderate to severe lymphocytic infiltration). To our best knowledge, up to date there is no report indicating the presence of TVP in Poland nor in Central and Eastern Europe.

Nodular fasciitis is a benign tumor, resulting from reactive proliferation composed of fibroblastic/myofibroblastic cells. Due to its rapid growth and high cellularity it may be mistaken for sarcoma. Despite the possibility of spontaneous regression, excision is the treatment of choice. A 24-year-old female patient presented with a nodule on the zygomatic region with 3 months of evolution. Excisional biopsy was performed. Histopathological examination associated with immunohistochemical markers HHF35, AML and Ki-67 allowed diagnostic confirmation. The main relevance of the case presented is its rare location, suggesting its inclusion among the differential diagnoses of tumor lesions on the face.

ABSTRACT The trichoepithelioma is a benign cutaneous neoplasm which is derived from hair follicles. It is common in the face, but there are only three reports of the solitary occurrence on the nose. It is often not recognized because of its rarity, controversial classification, origin and biological potential. The objective of this paper is to present a case of solitary trichoepithelioma on the nose, histopathological examination and treatment. It should be considered as a differential diagnosis of a solitary lesion of nose which is confused with basal cell carcinoma. The confirmation by histopathological examination is essential. Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence and histological type of lesions affecting the ovaries and to analyze employed methods of invasive treatment. Materials&Methods: Medical records of patients who were treated surgically for ovarian tumors in the years 2015 -2019 were reviewed. The study group was comprised of 31 female patients. Results: During 5 years time, there were 31 girls in the age from 3 months to 17 years hospitalized in the department. The mean age was 11 years. Histopathological examination was performed in all of these cases. 12 patients were diagnosed with malignant lesion, 19 with benign lesion. The most commonly diagnosed malignant tumors were a dysgerminoma and a mixed germ cell tumor. In the group of benign lesions, the most frequent tumor type was mature teratoma. The first occurring symptom was abdominal pain. Some of the lesions were diagnosed accidentally during ultrasonography. The diagnostics was expanded depending on the size of the tumor, staging and clinical condition of the patient. All the patients were treated surgically, 16 of them underwent laparoscopic surgery. Torsion of the ovary or oviduct was observed in 3 cases. Chemotherapy was introduced in 8 cases as complementary treatment. Conclusions: The most commonly diagnosed tumor was mature teratoma. Ultrasonography is the most frequent method of the ovaries’ examination. Ovarian lesions are characterized by non-specific clinical symptoms, which is associated with prevalent incidental detection during ultrasonography.
