During the period 1969-2019, longhorn beetles (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) were studied in Bulgaria. In different regions of the country, 144 cerambycid taxa from six subfamilies were established: Prioninae (five species), Lepturinae (37 species and subspecies), Necydalinae (one species), Spondylidinae (nine species and subspecies), Cerambycinae (46 species and subspecies) and Lamiinae (46 species and subspecies). New localities of 14 rare cerambycid taxa were established (Pedostrangalia revestita, Alocerus moesiacus, Anisarthron barbipes, Icosium tomentosum atticum, Paraclytus sexguttatus, Aegomorphus krueperi, Agapanthia frivaldszkyi, Deroplia genei genei, Dorcadion equestre transsilvanicum, Phytoecia albovittigera, Phytoecia praetextata praetextata, Pogonocherus hispidus, Niphona picticornis and Saperda perforata). New longhorn beetles were also found in the West Balkan Range, the Eastern and Western Rhodopes, Maleshevska Planina Mt. and North-eastern Bulgaria. These new records enlarged the knowledge about the regional distribution of longhorn beetles in Bulgaria.

The new records of genera and species of algae (Chlorodendrophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cryptophyceae,Mesostigmatophyceae, Raphidophyceae, Xanthophyceae) for the West-Siberian Plain and the Far East, including AltaiKrai, Novosibirsk Oblast and Primorskii Krai, were revealed. All species listed are new ones for the regions, 3 genera and14 species are new for West-Siberian Plain and the Far East, including 1 genus new for Siberia and 1 genus new for the FarEast. The localities and regional distribution are reported for each species.

The article presents new data on the distribution in the territory of Western Altai of 20 species of vascular plants from the families Asteraceae, Betulaceae, Boraginaceae, Crassulaceae, Huperziaceae, Grossulariaceae, Lamiaceae, Onagraceae, Orchidaceae, Papaveraceae, Polygonaceae, Ranunculaceae, Rosaceae, Saxifragaceae и Violaceae. All of them were collected in the highlands of the Korgon Range within the Altai Territory. Of these, Potentilla crebridens is reported for the first time for the Altai Territory and Western Altai; for other species, new localities are indicated. For the first time for the Korgon Range within the Altai Territory, Saxifraga terektensis, Viola tigirekica are presented, and the exact location of Potentilla nivea is noted. New localities of rare and protected species were discovered: Callianthemum sajanense, Huperzia appressa, Pyrethrum alatavicum, Saussurea baicalensis, Scutellaria altaica. For each species, the general distribution, ecology data are given, for some species, notes on the difference and differentiation of them from the closest taxa are indicated. If necessary, the locations of the species previously registered in the Western Altai are indicated. For the species included in the “Red Data Book of the Altai Territory”, we provide an information on the approximate number of individuals in the found populations. Based on the analysis of herbarium material, we exclude Potentilla nervosa from the list of flora of the Altai Territory.

The complex of longhorn beetles in Rila Mt. in Bulgaria was studied by literature data and original biological materials. As a result, 126 taxa from six subfamilies were established, as follows: Prioninae (four taxa), Lepturinae (43 taxa), Necydalinae (two taxa), Spondylidinae (seven taxa), Cerambycinae (31 taxa) and Lamiinae (39 taxa). In this study, two new records for Rila Mt. (Stenurella nigra nigra and Xylosteus spinolae) and new localities or additional information for 24 cerambycid taxa were reported. The longhorn beetles belong to 18 zoogeographical categories and seven complexes. The European complex occupies a dominant position (37.3%), followed by the Palaearctic (23.8%), Eurosiberian (13.5%), Mediterranean (11.1%), European-Iranoturanian (7.1%), Balkan endemic (4.0%) and Holarctic (3.2%) complexes.

AbstractThe paper presents new localities of 15 vascular plants recorded in the Polish part of the Lithuanian Lakeland, north-eastern Poland in 2017–2018, using the ATPOL cartogram method. Crepis capillaris, Diplotaxis tenuifolia, Eragrostis albensis, Matthiola longipetala, Oenothera fruticosa, Oenothera glazioviana and Rubus armeniacus are listed as new species for the regional flora.

New localities of <em>Rhizocarpon distinctum, R. geographicum</em> and <em>R. reductum</em> are reported from NE Poland. <em>Rhizocarpon distinctum, R. grande, R. hochstetteri, R. lavatum, R. petraeum, R. polycarpum</em> and R. reductum</em> are reported from NW Belarus for the first time. <em>Rhizocarpon hochstetteri, R. lavatum</em> and <em>R. polycarpum</em> are new to Belarus. A key to species occurring in the area is given.

The paper provides data on records of 29 species of aphyllophoroid fungi new for the the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area — Yugra. Among them 10 species (Amaurodon cyaneus, Amyloxenasma allantosporum, Asterostroma laxum, Byssoporia terrestris, Paullicorticium pearsonii, Pseudomerulius montanus, Sistotrema sernanderi, Skeletocutis alutacea, S. ochroalba, Tubulicrinis orientalis) are published for the first time for Siberia, and 3 species (Scytinostroma praestans, Tomentellopsis zygodesmoides, Tubulicrinis strangulatus) are new for the West Siberia. Data on their locations, habitats and substrates in region are indicated. The specimens are kept in the Museum of the Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology of the Ural Branch of the RAS (SVER).

Betula humilis Schrank (shrubby birch) is among the most endangered shrub species in Poland. All localities are in the eastern and northern parts of the country, where the species reaches the western border of its geographical range in Europe. Betula humilis is disappearing in Poland due to wetland melioration and shrub succession. Over 80% of the localities described in Poland have not been confirmed in the last 20 years. Five new localities of B. humilis in the North Podlasie Lowland were recorded from 2008 to 2019 in the Upper Nurzec Valley (Fig. 1): 1–1.5 km south-west of Pawlinowo village (in the ATPOL GC7146 plot) and 1.5–2 km north-west of Żuki village (ATPOL GC7155, GC156 and GC166). The population near Pawlinowo (locality 1) is currently composed of ~80 individuals (101 individuals were noted in 2010) and is one of the largest populations in north-eastern Poland. Betula humilis grows there within patches dominated by Salix rosmarinifolia and megaforbs. The population at locality 5 is composed of 18 individuals. At the remaining localities, only 1–4 individuals were found, scattered along drainage ditches surrounded by hay meadows. At some of these localities the species is threatened with extinction. It is suggested to remove competitive trees and shrubs (mainly Populus tremula, Betula pubescens and Salix cinerea) in order to maintain the local populations.

The paper describes the past and present distribution of Colchicum autumnale in the vicinity of Cracow, highlights the role of Stanisław Dembosz (who published the first locality of C. autumnale near Igołomia in 1841). Gives information about the occurrence of C. autumnale in Krzeszowice in the 19th century (reported by Bronisław Gustawicz), presents new localities noted in 2012–2014 in meadows in the north-eastern part of the Puszcza Niepołomicka forest and adjacent area (between the Vistula and Raba rivers), and gives a locality found in Cracow in 2005 (no longer extant).

SummaryRegionally mappable, silicic, outflow ignimbrite sheets are interbedded with fluvial volcanogenic conglomerates and sandstones of the Late Carboniferous Currabubula Formation of north-eastern N.S.W. Four of the most widespread of these ignimbrites are described and defined as members. The oldest member is comprised of many thin, originally non-welded flow units. Interbedded accretionary lapilli horizons may indicate phreatomagmatic activity at vent during the eruption in addition to local rain-flushing of co-ignimbrite ash clouds. Of the three other members, two are multiple flow-unit sheets, 160–180 m in aggregate thickness. Substantial portions of these sheets were originally welded. The remaining member is a simple welded ignimbrite characterized by abundant spherulites and lithophysae. Irregular pre-eruption topography and contemporaneous erosion were responsible for thickness variations of the ignimbrite sheets. Some palaeovalleys, now delineated by the ignimbrites, persisted in spite of repeated pyroclastic influxes. Relic pumice, shards and crystal fragments are ubiquitous components of the sedimentary facies of the Currabubula Formation, and were probably derived from originally poorly consolidated pyroclastic deposits such as airfall ash layers and non-welded ignimbrites. No surface trace of the sources of these ignimbrites exists. However, internal facies, thickness variations and volumes of the ignimbrites indicate that they periodically emanated from a multiple-caldera terrain which was continuously active during the Late Carboniferous, and located several kilometres to the west of present exposures.

The West African crocodile (Crocodylus suchus) is an emblematic species from the Sahara-Sahel with scarce knowledge on distribution and conservation status. This study updated the knowledge on distribution, occupied habitats, population size, and factors that threaten C. suchus and its habitats in Mauritania. Five field expeditions to Mauritania (2011-2016), allowed the detection of 26 new localities, increasing by 27% the current number of all known locations (adding up to ). In most localities less than five individuals were observed, and in all visiting sites the number of observed individuals ranged from one to 23. Eleven threat factors were identified, being droughts and temperature extremes (100% localities affected) and water abstraction for domestic use and nomadic grazing (94%) the most frequent. These findings suggest that crocodiles are apparently vulnerable in Mauritania and that future local conservation strategies are needed to assure the continuity of its fragile populations and preserve their habitats.
