A study was carried out on the impact of quarrying and crushing waste on the quality of soil in Tumkur District. The quarries located in different parts of Tumkur District produces quarry wastes (aggregates), blasted materials (fly rocks), chemicals (explosives used for blasting) and dust (granite powder) generated from activity are spread and settled in the surrounding area. The soil samples were collected both near and away from the quarry and crushing sites. The collected samples were analyzed for various physico-chemical parameters viz temperature, pH, EC, organic carbon, nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, iron and boron using standard methods. The results revealed the deterioration of soil quality near the quarrying and crushing sites and this can be attributed due to the accumulation of dust. The soil properties are less affected away from the quarry sites.

Productivity of two common osier (Salix viminalis L.) plantations in two different regions of Lithuania was marginally studied in 2014. The regions where the studies on common osier plantations have been done differed in soil groups. For that, the main importance of the study was to identify soil group typological parameters as well as to describe soil chemical characteristics. Further, it was important to estimate the volume of common osier biomass and to assess the impact of different soil parameters on osier biomass productivity. The obtained results let to exclude the importance of soil group as well as of soil typological unit on the productivity of common osier plantations in different regions. Thus, it was found that soil density is the main factor influencing the growth of common osier and it was optimal in studied Histosol (in South West of Lithuania). However, organic carbon and total nitrogen concentrations were the main parameters having impact on common osier productivity in Arenosols (in Western Lithuania).

Abstract This study was undertaken to explore the entrepreneurial intention of Polytechnic Students in Nigeria with case study of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro. The population for the study was all students from various department undergoing entrepreneurship education/training in the polytechnics in south-west Nigeria. The sample size for the study is 3000 respondents. The respondent were selected by using simple random sampling. Logistic regression model was used for the hypothesis tested. The two environmental factors examined were Family environment and Nigeria environment. The impact/significant of these factors were examined to know how they can impact on students entrepreneurship intention. The study revealed that parental entrepreneurship skill directly influence students’ entrepreneurial intention and that opportunities that exist in Nigeria affect students’ entrepreneurial intention. Hence, the researcher suggest that schools should involve the services of psychologist and motivational speakers in Nigeria entrepreneurship curriculum in order to work on the students’ reasoning mentality about entrepreneurship.
