Big data is a fast-growing technology that has the scope to mine huge amount of data to be used in various analytic applications. With large amount of data streaming in from a myriad of sources: social media, online transactions and ubiquity of smart devices, Big Data is practically garnering attention across all stakeholders from academics, banking, government, heath care, manufacturing and retail. Big Data refers to an enormous amount of data generated from disparate sources along with data analytic techniques to examine this voluminous data for predictive trends and patterns, to exploit new growth opportunities, to gain insight, to make informed decisions and optimize processes. Data-driven decision making is the essence of business establishments. The explosive growth of data is steering the business units to tap the potential of Big Data to achieve fueling growth and to achieve a cutting edge over their competitors. The overwhelming generation of data brings with it, its share of concerns. This paper discusses the concept of Big Data, its characteristics, the tools and techniques deployed by organizations to harness the power of Big Data and the daunting issues that hinder the adoption of Business Intelligence in Big Data strategies in organizations.

Internet of Things (IoT) is an up-and-coming technology that has a wide variety of applications. It empowers physical objects to be organized in a specialized framework to grow its convenience in terms of ease and time utilization. It is to convert the thought of bridging the crevice between the physical world and the machine world. It is also being use in the wide range of the technology in this current situation. One of its applications is to monitor and store data over time from numerous devices allows for easy analysis of the dataset. This analysis can then be the basis of decisions made on the same. In this study, the concept, architecture, and relationship of IoT and Big Data are described. Next, several use cases in IoT and big data in the research methodology are studied. The opportunities and open challenges which including the future directions are described. Furthermore, by proposing a new architecture for big data analytics in the Internet of Things, this paper adds value. Overall, the various types of big IoT data analytics, their methods, and associated big data mining technologies are discussed.

The term Big Data corresponds to a large dataset which is available in different forms of occurrence. In recent years, most of the organizations generate vast amounts of data in different forms which makes the context of volume, variety, velocity, and veracity. Big Data on the volume aspect is based on data set maintenance. The data volume goes to processing usual a database but cannot be handled by a traditional database. Big Data is stored among structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data. Big Data is used for programming, data warehousing, computational frameworks, quantitative aptitude and statistics, and business knowledge. Upon considering the analytics in the Big Data sector, predictive analytics and social media analytics are widely used for determining the pattern or trend which is about to happen. This chapter mainly deals with the tools and techniques that corresponds to big data analytics of various applications.

Big data is in every industry. It is being utilized in almost all business functions within these industries. Basically, it creates value by converting human decisions into transformed automated algorithms using various tools and techniques. In this chapter, the authors look towards big data analytics from the healthcare perspective. Healthcare involves the whole supply chain of industries from the pharmaceutical companies to the clinical research centres, from the hospitals to individual physicians, and anyone who is involved in the medical arena right from the supplier to the consumer (i.e. the patient). The authors explore the growth of big data analytics in the healthcare industry including its limitations and potential.

The term Big Data refers to large-scale information management and analysis technologies that exceed the capability of traditional data processing technologies. Big Data is differentiated from traditional technologies in three ways: volume, velocity and variety of data. Big data analytics is the process of analyzing large data sets which contains a variety of data types to uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, customer preferences and other useful business information. Since Big Data is new emerging field, there is a need for development of new technologies and algorithms for handling big data. The main objective of this paper is to provide knowledge about various research challenges of Big Data analytics. A brief overview of various types of Big Data analytics is discussed in this paper. For each analytics, the paper describes process steps and tools. A banking application is given for each analytics. Some of research challenges and possible solutions for those challenges of big data analytics are also discussed.

The adoption of Web 2.0 technologies, Internet of Things, etc. by individuals and organization has led to an explosion of data. As it stands, existing Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMSs) are incapable of handling this deluge of data. The term Big Data was coined to represent these vast, fast and complex datasets that regular RDBMSs could not handle. Special tools or frameworks were developed to deal with processing, managing and storing this big data. These tools are capable of functioning in distributed industry- standard environments thereby maintaining efficiency and effectiveness at a business level. Apache Hadoop is an example of such a framework. This report discusses big data, it origins, opportunities and challenges that it presents, big data analytics and the application of big data using existing big data tools or frameworks. It also discusses Apache Hadoop as a big data framework and provides a basic overview of this technology from technological and business perspectives.

Big data is emerging, and the latest developments in technology have spawned enormous amounts of data. The traditional databases lack the capabilities to handle this diverse data and thus has led to the employment of new technologies, methods, and tools. This research discusses big data, the available big data analytical tools, the need to use big data analytics with its benefits and challenges. Through a research drawing on survey questionnaires, observation of the business processes, interviews and secondary research methods, the organizations, and companies in a small island state are identified to survey which of them use analytical tools to handle big data and the benefits it proposes to these businesses. Organizations and companies that do not use these tools were also surveyed and reasons were outlined as to why these organizations hesitate to utilize such tools.
