The technology acceptance model (TAM; Davis, 1989) has been widely used by information technology researchers to gain a better understanding of information technology (IT) adoption and its use in organizations. While TAM has been applied and tested in academic and corporate settings, involving students, business managers, and clerical and administrative types as participants, few studies have evaluated TAM in the healthcare environment. This chapter examines the applicability of the extended technology acceptance model (TAM2; Ventkatesh & Davis, 2000) in the context of physicians’ intention to adopt Internet-based health applications. Data was collected in a survey of pediatricians to see how well the extended model fits in the medical sector. This chapterdiscusses the implications, limitations, and possible explanations for the inconsistent results found within the model when applied to such professional users as physicians.

While there has been a great deal of research on the application and implementation of Information Technology (IT), there is less research on the variables which can contribute to the successful diffusion and implementation of IT within an organization. This paper looks at the relationship between the cultural/work values of the people involved and IT adoption. Three cultures and the correlation of their cultural/work orientations and the adoption of IT via the Technology Adoption Model (TAM). Findings suggest a correlation between some of the variables in the two models used.

BACKGROUND Many theories/ models adopted from behavioral sciences literature or developed within the field of information technologies could help in understanding the technology acceptance, usage, and effective adoption. OBJECTIVE The main aim of this paper is to review the different theories/ models that can help in understanding information technology/system acceptance and use, and to choose the most appropriate theoretical framework that could be applied to understand the factors influencing physicians’ use of the Electronic Health Record system (EHR) at King Fahd Military Medical Complex (KFMMC) in Dhahran city, Saudi Arabia. METHODS The theories/ models were reviewed using scientific databases. The inclusion criteria were if the theories/ models used to explain individual behaviors toward accepting and using of information technology including the once conducted within the healthcare. RESULTS The review showed that there were five theories/ models were used within information technology studies to understand the technology acceptance and used. There were Theory of Reasoned Action, Theory of Planned Behaviour, Innovation Diffusion Theory, Unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, and Technology Acceptance Model. Each has different explanatory power of technology use. The most appropriate theoretical framework to understand the reason behind physician use of the EHR at KFMMC would be the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). TAM model could explain up to 75% of the variation in the behavioral intention (acceptance), and up to 62% of the variation in the actual use. It is the gold standard for assessing the usage of health technologies and systems. In fact, the TAM model is one of the core models used to explore the physician’s perceptions of the Electronic Health Record system adoption. CONCLUSIONS This review showed that there are different theories available in the literature can be used to justify the reason behind electronic health record acceptance. TAM is one of the effective, simplest models used to understand the factors influencing physicians to use the EHR-system. Further studies need to apply the TAM model to check its ability in explaining the reason behind EHR within different hospitals in Saudi Arabia

Teori dan Model Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) dari Fishbein & Ajzen (1975), Theory Planned Behavior (TPB) dari Ajzen (1991), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) dari Davis (1989) dan Diffusion of Innovation Model (DOI) dari Rogers (1983 dalam Rogers, 2003) sering digunakan oleh banyak peneliti untuk menemukan faktor – faktor yang mempengaruhi adopsi yang berkaitan dengan teknologi. Pada penelitian ini keempat teori dan model ini dikombinasikan guna menjelaskan faktor – faktor yang mempengaruhi adopsi Twitter advertising pada segmen muda usia 15 – 24 tahun. Sebanyak 389 penguna Twitter menjadi responden penelitian ini, dimana 5 diantaranya diwawancara untuk mendapatkan pemahaman mendalam akan adopsi Twitter advertising. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat attitude terhadap Twitter advertising, subjective norm terhadap Twitter advertising, perceived usefulness terhadap Twitter advertising berpengaruh dan signifikan terhadap intention to adopt Twitter advertising.

Abstract: A Behavioral Study on Middle-Class Consumers in Adopting M-Commerce in East Java. The objective of this study is to examine factors that influence the behavioral intention of consumers in using and adopting m-commerce. This study combines Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), and Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT). The data of this study were collected through a survey and samples were selected by using convenience sampling technique with SEM-PLS requirement as many as ten times the number of paths. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS). The results of this study show that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, and personal innovativeness affecs behavioral intention. Furthermore, behavioral intention affects actual user, i.e. consumers, to use and adopt m-commerce information technology. This study implies that vendors of m-commerce information technology and management should pay more attention to and reconsider perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, personal innovativeness, behavioral intention, and consumers as actual users, when they make decision regarding adoption and appliance of m-commerce.Keywords: m-commerce information technology adoption, consumer behavior, Technology Acceptance Model, Theory of Planned Behavior, Innovation Diffusion TheoryAbstrak: Studi Keperilakuan Konsumen Kelas Menengah dalam Pengadopsian M-Commerce di Jawa Timur. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menguji faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi minat perilaku konsumen dalam menggunakan maupun mengadopsi m-commerce. Studi ini menggunakan metode survey, sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik convenience sampling, dan teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah SEM-PLS. Studi ini menemukan bahwa konstruk persepsi kegunaan, persepsi kemudahan penggunaan, pengaruh sosial dan keinovatifan pribadi berpengaruh terhadap minat perilaku. Selanjutnya, studi ini juga menemukan bahwa minat perilaku berpengaruh terhadap pengguna yang sesungguhnya, yaitu konsumen, terkait dengan penggunaan maupun adopsi m-commerce. ABSTRACT Context: teleconsultation can be a strategic technological tool for patients to access quality healthcare while dealing with resource challenges within health industry. It can be particularly relevant during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, when the social distancing world had to scramble for new technological solutions to offer quality healthcare services with reduced personal contact. Objective: our research proposes an integrative technology acceptance model to evaluate the drivers of teleconsultation adoption by patients, aligning constructs from the technology acceptance model with other drivers, such as technology readiness, trust, and self-efficacy. Methods: analyses included descriptive statistics and structural equations modeling based on survey’s data from a sample of 415 consumers. Results: results indicate significant relationships between the assessed constructs, with particular relevance on the effects of perceived usefulness, anteceded by trust and technology readiness, on attitude and intention to use teleconsultation. Conclusion: our findings provide helpful insights for health organizations and regulators associated with the diffusion of teleconsultation. The study findings also indicate that the challenging COVID-19 pandemic context may be affecting patients’ intention to adopt teleconsultation.

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed behavior of the people in getting health services that switch to online ones. The study examines the extending of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in using health applications. TAM is no longer relevant to be applied on the specific application studies. The expansion that carried out adds to the variables of social influence, feelings of anxiety, and availability of services in developing attitudes to influence behavioral intentions. Data collected using online questionnaires for users of the Halodoc application as many as 200 respondents. The results of hypothesis testing using the Structural Equation Modeling analysis with the AMOS method show that attitudes are the determinants in forming behavioral intentions which are influenced by perception of usefulness, ease of perception, social influence, and service availability, but not from the feelings of anxiety. These results indicate that individuals perceive Halodoc as providing benefits, easy to use, influencing environment, and well-available services. Therefore it can ignore the anxiety in using the Halodoc application during the Covid 19 pandemic to get health services.

The purpose of this paper is to explore and discuss the determinants that inhibit mobile banking adoption by the rural unbanked in Zimbabwe. The researchers conducted an extensive literature search. The references consulted were categorically analysed and articles were considered to compile the findings of this paper. The study provides a contribution to practice by providing a better understanding of issues associated with mobile banking diffusion mechanisms that aid the adoption of mobile banking systems. The main findings of the research indicate that there is a slow and often annoying adoption of mobile banking within Zimbabwe by the rural unbanked due to a considerable number of inhibitive factors. This research reveals the nature of adoption that may reliably inform service providers about strategies to consider when appealing to this market segment. The study also shows that mobile banking adoption cannot ignore the use of marketing oriented factors in order to avoid the assumption of being myopic by considering only the product based variables to assess behavioural intention to adopt mobile banking services as identified in Technology Acceptance Model. However, the literature review also reveals that there are virtually no substantive theoretical researches which adequately extend the TAM using all the marketing mix elements. Therefore Technology Acceptance Model is extended using the marketing mix elements to better predict the behavioural intention to adopt mobile banking by the rural unbanked. This research, having studied the behaviour of the rural unbanked, argues that mobile banking service providers are likely to develop tailor-made integrated marketing mix strategies in order to financially include this market segment. The paper recommends for future research to use the additional marketing mix elements of physical evidence, processes and people in the adoption of mobile banking services by the rural unbanked.
