This book has reviewed the literature concerning the role of management in business development and several papers on available tools and techniques for research of the business resources and the external factors impacting the organisation, together with tools and techniques used to analyse information systems. A particular note was made of recommendations for seeking out competitive advantage and the omissions and limitations expressed by the authors of the current research and analysis methods. There are arguments for combining specific tools and techniques into a single methodology. This chapter presents the benefits to business managers and development staff for using the methodology and the documentation produced and from having a well-structured business architecture. The advantages of having a holistic view of the organisation and its competitive position concerning the external forces are reviewed in relation to due diligence, transparency and good governance, and risk assessment and planning.

There are many tools and techniques available for business analysis, but the question is whether there is one tool or a set of tools that are most commonly used. What tools or techniques are taught to business managers or business development officers? The literature is reviewed for tools that are most widely taught and in use. The chapter examines the reasons they have been chosen and the comments on how effective they were found to be. The use of tools generally and the need to use more than one tool are discussed. Several authors suggest that the central role of a business analysis tool appears to be to provoke discussion amongst the business development officers. The discussion seems to be more important than the tool in preparation for developing strategic options. The theory of resource-based analysis is discussed with its role in analysing the company and its competition.

Decision making is a significant responsibility for business managers, their decisions impacting business performance. Managers are therefore interested in acquiring and implementing reliable methods for making decisions both now and in the future. Currently, in the countries in the Albanian-speaking regions of the Western Balkans, intuitive decision-making methods predominate. In order to find appropriate methods for assessing and prioritizing goals, new approaches to decision making should be adopted. Various methods have been developed for multi-criteria decision making. One of these is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method—a method which should receive more attention than it has up to now. We would like to show that the AHP method could be of great use in decision making. Through a case study, this paper explores the AHP, a method with three levels in which the identification of decision-making criteria is based on the perceptions of managers and consumers. The paper’s findings offer an important guide for managers to improve decision making and enhance performance in competitive markets.

This study examines the importance customers attach to online meal service quality and delivery speed using data collected in 2017. The structured questionnaire probed for views on meal delivery services and socio-demographic information. The respondents participating in the survey were located in cities across 29 provinces in China. Ordered logit technique estimated equations for modeling service quality and delivery speed importance. Average meal price and food safety expectations were important to consumer perception of service quality, while payment convenience, ordered meal type, and delivery courier logo mattered to perception of delivery speed. Online order business managers should pay attention to orders with above average value, those with multiple, varied dishes, and deliveries to college dormitories. Customers ordering traditional Chinese dishes attach importance to delivery speed in contrast to those ordering barbecue. Courier appearance and display of health badges are also associated with importance attached to delivery speed.

Abusing psychoactive substances has been a popular sport in the business world since the mid-19th century. First, they were appreciated for their stimulating or tonic effects, but later with psychedelics on the scene, their importance in subculture matured. In the last decade, it has become very popular to use LSD and cocaine in subtle doses, which provides users with a high that is enough to feel their psychoactive potential, but not as high that significant behavioral changes can be seen. Unlike regular use, microdosing is usually sufficient to affect a few without undue finish and withdrawal symptoms. It allows for abuse in the regular mode of the working week with a rest phase on the weekend. The diametric difference between the abuse of standard dosing and micro-dosing is also in the decreasing tolerance of the organism. Over time, an organism permanently exposed to microdosing of stimulants is sufficient to achieve a gradually decreasing dose effect that psychedelics develop resistance to. Case studies of such prolonged use were described and analyzed to show the role of microdosing in the creative world and for business managers. Initial field research, funded by the Newton University internal grant, focused on contamination mapping in office spaces for employees in target positions. Further research continues on the investigation of microdosing in conditions of corporate reality.
