In this article, the context of m-learning in relation to e-learning and d-learning is presented. Because of the great importance in Web-based technologies to bridge over mobile and wireless technologies, the infrastructure to support m-learning through browser-based technologies is described. This concept represents my own view on the future direction of m-learning. An m-learning experiment, which implemented the concept, is then presented.

The Internet is a major driver of e-learning advancement and there was an estimate of over 1000 million Internet users in 2004. The ownership of mobile devices is even more astonishing. ITU (2006) reported that 77% of the population in developed countries are mobile subscribers. The emergence of mobile, wireless and satellite technologies is impacting our daily life and our learning. New Internet technologies are being used to support small-screen mobile and wireless devices. In a field marked by such rapid evolution, we cannot assume that the Web as we know it today will remain the primary conduit for Internet- based learning (Bowles, 2004, p.12). Mobile and wireless technologies will play a pivotal role in learning. This new field is commonly known as mobile learning (m-learning). In this article, the context of m-learning in relation to e-learning and d-learning is presented. Because of the great importance in Web-based technologies to bridge over mobile and wireless technologies, the infrastructure to support mlearning through browser-based technologies is described. This concept represents my own view on the future direction of m-learning. An m-learning experiment, which implemented the concept, is then presented.

With the outstanding improvements in technology, the number of e-learning applications has increased greatly. This increment is associated with awareness levels of educational institutions on the related improvements and the power of communication and computer technologies to ensure effective and efficient teaching and learning experiences for teachers and students. Consequently, there is a technological flow that changes the standards of e-learning processes and provides better ways to obtain desired educational objectives. When we consider today's widely used technological factors, Web-based e-learning approaches have a special role in directing the educational standards. Improvements among m-learning applications and the popularity of the Artificial Intelligence usage for educational works have given great momentum to this orientation. In this sense, this chapter provides some ideas on the future of intelligent Web-based e-learning applications by thinking on the current status of the literature. As it is known, current trends in developing Artificial Intelligence-supported e-learning tools continue to shape the future of e-learning. Therefore, it is an important approach to focus on the future. The author thinks that the chapter will be a brief but effective enough reference for similar works, which focus on the future of Artificial Intelligence-supported distance education and e-learning.

Today, extremely fast developments take place in science and technology. These changes and developments reflect upon all systems and give rise to changes in some concepts and processes. Lifelong learning is one of the concepts affected by these changes. Educational institutions are considered to be responsible for spreading knowledge through e-learning, virtual university, Web-based education, distance education, which offer professional development. Therefore, distance education institutions have an important place in the education system of the future. However, innovations and developments have to be followed closely and operationally used for adaptation to the education system of the future within the distance education system as well. A scientific and realistic way of adapting to these developments is possible only if program development efforts are constant. Looking from this framework, teaching design, internationalization, entrepreneurship have given rise to differentiation in the program development of distance education. This is explored in this chapter.

Micromax is an Indian consumer electronics company which began by selling mobile phones. In early 2014, Micromax ranked third in the mobile handsets category in India, behind Nokia and Samsung. The case is set in 2014, a watershed year for Micromax. It has to make decisions related to the future direction of the company. There are various options available, such as expanding into other consumer electronics and consumer durables categories, expanding outside India, etc. Micromax had recently introduced premium smartphones, and there had been a gradual shift in its target segment from rural to more upmarket consumers. Micromax aspired to be considered among the best brands in the world; however, the company was unsure of how to move forward. Its leadership had to decide on the right positioning for Micromax.

Clinical Informaticians have been considerably effective at replacing paper-based medical data with healthcare applications. Presently, the theme of interest for biomedical IT systems comprises of Web based and wireless healthcare provisions. To explore into this area of research, we begin by familiarizing the audience with the theme of healthcare applications in Section 1. This is followed by listing and discussing the advantages provided by generic computerized systems developed primarily for the assistance of physicians in Section 2.1. In Section 2.2, we consider possible challenges that these applications induce. Section 3.1 comprises of the possible benefits offered by Web-based applications for clinicians, whereas Section 3.2 focuses on the challenges offered by Web-based applications. Section 4.1 delivers an overview on the subject of wireless healthcare technology in regard to physicians whereas Section 4.2 lists and defines its benefits in detail. Section 4.3 gives a brief coverage to wireless healthcare devices that could be of significance to clinicians. Furthermore, Section 4.4 consists of a clarified consideration of wireless applications that currently provide assistance to certified physicians, followed by Section 4.5, focusing on its challenges. We conclude this chapter in Section 5, providing an insight of how the future of generic, Web-based, and wireless technologies could lead to added development in our lives as clinicians or patients.
